rambling below the cut

ada as stratt has been something hugely on my mind lately. i don't think ada specifically set out from the beginning to do all of those atrocities for the sake of humanity. i think what happened was she was on edega's team - likely for the ESA - when the petrova taskforce came to be.

edega was the former lead, who then decided he would put himself on the mission and thus needed someone able to make the rest of the hard decisions. he's never been a people person. that's ada's specialty. so ada goes out, collects her ragtag crew of scientists, cobbles together the hail mary, and then has to sacrifice the teacher that had been at her side through thick and thin when everything explodes and one third of her team is just gone.

of course, she also has to sacrifice her former boss and her childhood friend Ian, and adding that extra twist of the knife of tying the woman she started to harbor feelings for to the trolley tracks is almost too much to bear.

because she still has a planet to save, and 26 years to wait.
