KATE SHARMA HIVE RISE
đ From here đ
OUR VISCOUNTESS HAS ARRIVED đđđ
absolute favorite book scene that i NEED to have end up in the show in some form
Since, it might be Anthonyâs story in Season 2. What do you expect in this season, when it comes to Penelope and Colin Now that heâs back from his travels?
Hi! Thank you so much for this ask! Iâm super sorry it took me so long to reply.
Considering that Season 2 is going to be about Anthony, Iâm so excited to finally meet the legend that is Miss Kate Sheffield and The Sheffield family!
But back to Penelope and Colin, I donât expect their relationship to be quite established yet. They both are still very young and have a lot of growing up to do. The thing is, Iâm a total sucker for the friends-to-lovers and slow burn romance. I mean, The Yearningâą? The longing? The eventual mutual pining? , especially in a period show? I think weâre in for a treat next season, my guys.
Because from what Iâve seen in Season 1, I expect Season 2 to give us:
1. A LOT of stolen glances. Itâs going to drive me insane, but Iâd love to see it.
2. Colin actively seeking Penelope out in the crowd. This happened a lot more than I thought it would be in the first season, and I fully expect this to continue. We didn't get to see them in action that much in the first 3 books before Romancing Mister Bridgerton, therefore I was absolutely NOT prepared to be hit with the feels.
3. Accidentally flirting. I love, love, love their interaction in their book AND in the show. In Romancing Mister Bridgerton, they were flirting for the first half of the book and, to quote Penelope, it was glorious. They are so at ease with each other, and we get to see our Penelope comfortably making fun of members of the ton with Colin. Iâd love to see that on screen.
4. THIS AGAIN PLS
On a more serious note, I want to see how traveling shapes Colinâs character and how itâs going to affect his relationship with Penelope. As for Penelope, I want to see how sheâs going to embrace her identity because, on one hand, sheâs this shy, awkward, almost invisible wallflower, but on the other, sheâs possibly one of the most powerful members of the Haut monde. Iâm curious to see how sheâs going to handle that because sheâs still very young as well.
This is what I can think of off the top of my head, but I did discuss this a little bit with my friend before here if you are interested!
Polin headcanon-ish
a while back I was talking with @nishavanna about what we hoped to see from polin on the show before we get to their season. Iâm in no way a writer but thatâs what we have come up withÂ
They always share a dance on the first episode of each season, no matter the context, not only that but Colin always bring some kind of gift to Penelope when he returns from his travel. So we have a scene of him bringing her the tomatoes they talked about during season 1 and we have a scene on the first episode of season 3 of Colin gifting Pen with something from wherever place he decides to go next, it become their thing, during season 3 (because, if Iâm not mistaken thereâs a time jump of 2 years from the prologue to the first chapter) we see a shot of Penâs room with all the little gifts Colin gave her. itâs very cute. Â
On the last episode of each season they share a special scene; so for season one we got Colin saying that he was going to travel and that Pen had inspired him to do it, we also get Pen refusing his dance. On season 2 theyâre once again talking about Colinâs travels and which place he will visit next, itâs very bittersweet because there he is again leaving and not realizing that Pen is right there, however, this time, when Colin asks her to dance she accepts. And then⊠season 3 happens.Â
So itâs Benedictâs season and we get the whole cinderella plot going on⊠but we also get on episode 6 the sceneâą. It goes very much like in the books, Violet keeps dropping hints about Penelope and how Colin should marry her and, frankly, at that time Colin was still a bit dumb and oblivious, so we get him complaining of his motherâs ideas to his brothers and âand I am certainly not going to marry Penelope Featherington.â âohâ. Itâs very painful to watch and we get some angsty shots of both Pen (bc homegirl loves him) and Colin (bc boy does he realizes that he hurt her badly) so for the next episode or so he keeps trying to apologize to her but she keeps evading him because sheâs not in the mood to see his face.Â
So weâre on the last episode of the season and we get a very clear parallel to their last scene on season 1, but this time, Colin is the one who is trying to get something off his chest and apologize to Penelope and instead of being able to do so, she cuts him off, says that sheâs not feeling well or anything and that she should leave. This time, when the camera pans to Colinâs face we see a moment of realization. That he just lost someone that was very dear to him and he doesnât know what to do with a life without Penelope⊠setting up all the yearning and the beginning of the end to the slow burn and the stolen glances. In conclusion: he doesnât know that he loves her or even that he likes likes her but he definitely realizes that heâs feelings for Pen are not only the friends type.Â
I donât know how to write and someone could definitely do a better job with these, but yeah⊠:D
Bridgerton (2020-) | S1E01: Diamond of the First Water / S1E08: After the Rain
for @mikkel-nielsen because i haven't stopped thinking about them dancing (and not dancing) since you mentioned it.
Colin surprised himself by holding out his hand and saying, âPenelope Featherington, I think you should dance with me.â
And then Penelope surprised him by laughing and saying, âThatâs very sweet of you to ask, but you donât have to dance with me any longer.â
His pride felt oddly pricked. âWhat the devil do you mean by that?â
She shrugged. âItâs official now. Iâm a spinster. Thereâs no longer a reason to dance with me just so that I donât feel left out.â
âThatâs not why I danced with you,â he protested, but he knew that it was exactly the reason. And half the time heâd only remembered to ask because his mother had poked himâhardâ in the back and reminded him.
She gave him a faintly pitying look, which galled him, because heâd never thought to be pitied by Penelope Featherington
"If you think,â he said, feeling his spine grow stiff, "that Iâm going to allow you to wiggle out of a dance with me now, youâre quite delusional.â
âYou donât have to dance with me just to prove you donât mind doing it,â she said.
"I want to dance with you,â he fairly growled.
"Very well,â she said, after what seemed to be a ridiculously long pause. âIt would surely be churlish for me to refuse.â
âIt was probably churlish of you to doubt my intentions,â he said as he took her arm, âbut Iâm willing to forgive you if you can forgive yourself."Â
âI donât know. I donât know when, I donât know how, and to be honest, I donât care. But I know this much is true: I love you, and I hate myself for not seeing the real you all these years.â
âColin, donât,â she pleaded. âNo recriminations. No regrets. Not tonight.â
But he just smiled, placing a single finger on her lips to silence her plea. âI donât think you changed,â he said. âAt least not very much. But then one day I realised I was seeing something different when I looked at you.â He shrugged. âMaybe I changed. Maybe I grew up.â
She placed her finger on his lips, quieting him in the same manner heâd done to her. âMaybe I grew up, too.â
âI love you,â he said, leaning forward to kiss her. And this time she couldnât reply, because his mouth remained on hers, hungry, demanding, and very, very seductive.

Penelope was such a funny character. No, that wasnât quite right. She wasâŠsurprising. Yes, that seemed to sum her up. Very few people really knew her; she had certainly never developed a reputation as a sterling conversationalist. He was fairly certain sheâd made it through three-hour parties without ever venturing beyond words of a single syllable.
But when Penelope was in the company of someone with whom she felt comfortableâand Colin realised that he was probably privileged to count himself among that numberâ she had a dry wit, a sly smile, and evidence of a very intelligent mind, indeed.
"You were not a fool. You merely believed yourself in love. One should never apologize for that."
