I’ve watched all of season 2 and I think I need a little more time to process it, but my initial reaction is that I loved it. Jonny and Simone were so good as Anthony and Kate and their chemistry was incredible. I wish the show had focused a bit more on the development of their relationship. It doesn’t bother me that the show deviated so much from the book but there were some lovely moments from the book that showed us why they fell in love with each other, the library scene most notably, that should have been included. But after waiting years, I am so happy to see Anthony and Kate’s story on screen, I am looking forward to seeing more of their marriage in future seasons.

It’s been a week and I’m still not over the excitement of Simone as Kate. 

Whatever complaints I have about the series, I’ve been so impressed with the casting so far and I’m excited to meet future Bridgerton spouses.

Do you think they will announce the casting for Edwina and Mary Sharma before shooting begins? Super excited to see how that goes. I saw someone say Banita Sandhu would be an excellent choice for Edwina. And I can see that happening. Not sure if she still acts. I just saw her in one Bollywood flick a few years back. Anyways the whole desi aspect of it makes me so excited. Hope they keep an indian Mary too just because desi mamas are 100x more ambitious. I can already imagine the chaos.

I definitely think we’ll get a casting announcement for Edwina, Mary and possibly a few other new characters before filming starts. I think the plan was to announce Kate at the same time, but fans figured it out so they had to announce early.

I’m really bad at fancasting but I always love seeing other people’s suggestion. I think Banita looks great. I hope both Mary and Edwina are Desi too and I’m excited to see how aspects of their culture are incorporated into the Bridgerton world.

Mary is such an intriguing character, because she needs one of her daughters to marry wealthy, but she doesn’t act like an ambitious mama. She doesn’t push her daughters forward, there are no shenanigans to put them in the path of the most eligible gentlemen. Even when it’s apparent that Anthony has intentions towards Edwina, Mary doesn’t get overly excited about it. She sits back and lets him come to them. It’s a contrast to how other families operate. I wonder if they’ll change that in the show. I’ve said it before, but I would like to see the Sharma ambitions in a positive light - as three women in a precarious financial position, they have so few options left to them, the only one really is marrying well. Literature and films tend to look down on women who want to marry well instead of being purely for love and I think it would be fascinating to explore what it’s like for women who don’t have the option to hold out for love but must secure a wealthy match to support themselves and their family. So I’m all for a more ambitious Mary.

So I was on Amazon on JQ’s page and clicked on the TV tie-in section and saw that the TVWLM was to release in April 27th of this year.... oh my god!! 😭. I forgot we would even get one I’m legit dying!! You think they will shoot one? And I hope it’s like the first one cause I actually liked it which says a lot since I never like TV tie-in.

We'll definitely get a tie in version, but that won't be released until season 2 is released. Due to the popularity of season one, there has been a surge in demand for all the books in the series so they are being reissued. The UK/Ireland versions have new covers that kind of look vaguely similar to the Netflix cover for TDAI.

Those were released this month.

The edition being released in the US April has one the original covers. The one that has a sword on it, for no discernible reason.

We will get a cover with Jonathan and Simone eventually, but not in April. We just have to be patient.

Throw back to that time Jonny attended the Sex Education Season Two premiere. Sadly, I can’t find any pictures of Simone at the event.

Jonny is a fan of the show, he’s praised it in a couple of interviews, including this interview with Attitude Magazine in January 2019.

I hope the writers are watching the incredible excited and positive response to Simone's casting and realize that they the show doesn't have to revolve around Simon and Daphne to be successful.

Yes. I don’t think the writers are worried about that. There are so many reasons the show has been such a massive success, part of it is because of Simon and Daphne. The producers are aware of how popular other couples and books are with book fans, especially Kate & Anthony and Penelope & Colin. There’s every reason to be confident that the show will will build on its popularity when it adapts more popular books. Of course Simon and Daphne should appear in future seasons, but the show can absolutely stand on its own without them.

Do you think Prince Friedrich is going to come back or was he just in the first season?

Once and done, I would think. 

I did like Friederich but I can’t see any point in bringing him back again. Hopefully he’s found himself a nice girl with lovely bangs to marry somewhere and is busy working on the family he wants.

My only concern about Simone's Kate is that they're going to have to work really hard to find an actress to play the more beautiful Edwina since Simone is so striking. I'm thinking along the lines of a young Aishwarya Rai. I'm so excited for s2 since we won't have any idea how they're going to change it but keep it true enough.

You see this is exactly why I'm so afraid of the bangs of doom. If they can't find someone more beautiful than Simone then they can make her less beautiful.

I like what you said about being twice blessed. I will die for Kate Sharma already but I'm feeling a little nostalgic for Kate Sheffield.

Yeah, I can understand that. When I read the books, I conjured up an image of Kate Sheffield to fit the description; tall, brunette, not conventionally beautiful. I really liked her. And now we have a stunningly beautiful British-Indian woman to play Kate Sharma. I really like her too.

Sheffield - Sharma, It’s just a name and doesn’t really matter, and that’s true, but also it signifies that we’re getting a different Kate than the one we’ve grown attached to over the years. But we were always going to get a different Kate, just as we got a different Daphne, Simon, Anthony, Penny, Colin and Marina. There are always going to be differences between the books and the show. They are separate entities. 

 As long as she’s got the spirit of Kate, it doesn’t matter what her last name is. We’re so lucky to have both Kates to enjoy. You can feel nostalgic for old Kate and happily embrace new Kate.

Kate is Kate (no fan of casting do not kill me) but i see rumors about there will be no newton in a show . People said they'll give us snake or some other exotic family pet( 'grounbreaking') i know Netflix love be egdy and 1st season had no really funny/humor moments , 2nd seem go this way..why i have feeling They change dymantic between Mary &Edwida vs Kate 🤷‍♀️ and Yes now i'm Sure John and Michael Sterling will be Asian. Finger crossed for Japanes Michael
