SHE/HER is a THIRTY year old CIS WOMAN HUMAN. they’re originally from MANDALORE and now show loyalty to UNALIGNED. they are best known for being a MERCENARY, and i hear they’re pretty LOYAL yet also UNRESTRAINED at times; i hope they survive the galactic civil war.

THE PAST

Born of the Mandalorians, Rylla was raised with the legacy of Mandalore instilled in her. She had spent her young training, eager to learn and eager to help those who needed it. There was pride in her heritage, in the fighting and surviving that the Mandalorian people prided themselves on. Eventually the eager Rylla had met Bo-Katan Kryze. Of course Rylla knew of her, of her sister who was working to instill peace on their home planet but that didn’t quite sit right with Rylla. They came from a people of war, why should they just stop? Why should they change what they had always known? This would lead to Rylla eventually being invited to join Bo-Katan’s own group of fighters, the nite owls. This was more than she had expected for Rylla but her loyalty drove her to continue fighting, for the good of the Mandalorians as she believed. Perhaps joining the death watch was a bit extreme but she wouldn’t let anyone question her loyalty. Loyalty to Bo-Katan, to the nite owls, to Mandalore. When they were ostracized for their radical ideas Rylla still stood by, though her loyalty faltered even more upon maul’s declaration of power. This incited the nite owls, under Bo-Katan’s leadership to defect, and return to attempt to reinstate the elder Kryze sibling as leader. Under her leadership Mandalore was restored to being under the rule of its rightful people, Rylla stood and served under Bo-Katan until the Empire attacked, following suit of Kryze and help her people once more, traveling the galaxy to find allies, keeping in touch with Bo-Katan as much as she was able despite the difficulties .

THE PRESENT

Despite being brought back after not too long of a time, the change in the galaxy is clear. Chaos, confusion, Mandalore still in ruins. What was there to do? Her people were in hiding and those who were known were notorious. That’s what Rylla had to become. Finding credits was an important way to survive in a strange new world, and with money came information, allies. She wanted to find what she could of her people and beyond that, see if there were any of her fellow nite owls still out in the galaxy.

PERSONALITY

Despite being loyal to Mandalore and the Mandalorians, what that has meant for Rylla has changed throughout her life. It settled from blindly following as she grew and fought to figuring out what it meant to her, truly a loyalty to her people and her fellow nite owls. Rylla is trusting to those she is loyal to and to those who prove themselves to her, willing to go great lengths to help and do what must be done, including speaking her mind. Truths could be difficult to they were above all to Rylla, speaking without hesitation to those who deserved it and acting the same way.

he can tell she doesn’t agree with the choice to work with the empire, even some of the watch had not agreed. but he doesn’t regret it, “it was a bounty, and it was better to reunite it with us then let it go to someone else or stay with them.” he says simply. he hates the empire – now, after what they’ve done to the child. but back then he didn’t care much past being paid. the chance to regain beskar had been worth it. 

“but then you’d be copying my answer. not very original.” din replies, a small smile on his face under the helmet. 

It was true Rylla had been one of the few to disagree with the decision to work with the Empire- but in the end she didn’t have a say in the matter. She just had to do what she was told, following her commanders and leaders. Perhaps she did so in order to retain some semblance in say of what she did, though that wasn’t the truest either.

“Mmm, I suppose so. I just believe they shouldn’t have gotten it in the first place,” She replied curtly. “I believe most people these days would say something similar. At least from the ones I interact with.”

13. What was the worst thing in your character’s life?

“Finding that the Mandalorians are gone. All the people, traditions, families just... Erased from the galaxy.’’

“oh, how healthy of you,” she retorted. granted, it wasn’t as though trilla had any kind of high ground when it came to matters of defense mechanisms or mental health. her own was shattered, she had merely learned how to be deadly efficient inside of it. “no, not quite. we haven’t been purged. we just blend in much better than you do.”

“We all have our little quirks, don’t we?” She rose an eyebrow, tone a bit sarcastic but that wasn’t anything new. Honestly, Rylla was never one to talk about health, a lot of the time you just did what you had to to survive and she could assume this other woman was the same. “Mmm yes, blending in with the all black getup and masks. Seem to take a page out of a similar playbook as us.”

“Doubt I’d try to convince you anyway.” Rylla replied with a laugh, watching the woman “Not that I care.”

“cocky. there’s a cliche,” trilla remarked flippantly. it did not matter to her whether it was stolen or not, given she knew of mandalore’s history immediately after the clone wars. it was just the next twenty years that were a blur. “what more is there to really know? your people are ghosts, after all.”

“I’d say it’s a learned defense mechanism.” Rylla snorted a little. Probably true, a lot of mandalorians she knew had cocky personalities. Maybe it was a defense mechanism? Who knew, not as if there were many of her people left to ask. “Your people seem to be too.” Her eyes rested on the force user, small smiling falling.

“I’m glad you trust me that much.” Rylla smirked, nudging her friend “Glad we still have each other to count on.”

Rebellions are built on hope.

“Gonna need a lot more than hope to fight off something like the empire.” Rylla snorted, adjusting her armor “Sometimes hope can only get you so far.”

“The Kryze family.” There was no doubt in her response, there was no reason for there to be. As she grew older she spent more time with the royal family than with her own. Not through any fault of their own, it was just how her work ended up working out “I consider Bo as close as a sister.”

How do family reunions usually go?

Rylla had to pause at that, going quiet for a second. She hardly remembered the last time she saw her family, it was long before she was brought to this time. There was no doubt that they were long gone, and she didn’t dare try and look into how. “I haven’t had any family reunions in a long time.” Her voice was quiet.

“there are many mandalorian’s that would disagree with that statement,” she mused back. they had given many a choice– one she understood. they had sided with the empire to ensure their lives– perhaps something bo did not respect, but she certainly understood. “well, then they’re not the people we want, then.” 

Rylla glanced at her friend, sighing a bit. If only there were that many Mandalorians left to be have such opinions. Times had changed and honestly she wasn’t even completely sure what to do anymore, was there even enough to reclaim their planet? If there were, where were they? “Unfortunately I’m unsure how picky we’re able to be at this point. We have to take any allies we can if we want to have a chance.”

there was a large degree of arrogance in the other’s words, the arch of her brow barely lifting in response. “i imagine most would think your armor stolen.” she shrugged. of course, it didn’t bother her very much. though the empire had gone harshly after mandalore, it was not the task of an inquisitor. “you don’t know very much about my kind, i see. unfortunately for mandalorians, i can’t be lied to about that.”

“My armor is stolen? I think I wear it too well for that.” Rylla replied with almost a hint of a joke, smirking a bit. No, it was her family’s, passed through generations as much of the armor from mandalore had been. She tilted her head to her side, almost scoffing “We both seem to only know about stories of the other, don’t we.”

“more reason to hate the empire,” she hummed, glancing at the woman as they walked along. division had been their downfall. not that it hadn’t been present before, but this degree? it had broken them. “i think considering how we can move forward is the best move. get in contact with our people.”

“As if there were reasons to actually like it.” Rylla snorted in response, eyes trained on the path ahead of them, despite not even being sure where they were headed. “They deserve to rot.” She ended with a sigh, wishing her people weren’t just stories, legends as they were now. “I think we need to be careful with that. There are many of those who do not believe Mandalore can be reclaimed or return to us.”

“you dress like a ghost in the territory of who slaughtered your people. doesn’t that sound foolish?” the empire had made damn sure that mandalore would not survive after the purge. it was almost funny, given the bitter history between the jedi and the mandalorians, that they would target such a group, especially when the world had been considered a neutral one. none of that mattered now, though. trilla stared at the other woman skeptically, her own gaze unrelenting. “i suppose you haven’t been around people like me very often,” she offered. “we’re incapable of being nervous.”

“More people see it as the fact that I survived while others of my people couldn’t.” Rylla knew she was alive because she was out of place, out of time, but the force user didn’t need to know that. Nobody needed to know that. Nobody needed to know her true past, how she got to where she was. “You sounds a little too certain of that. Most Mandalorians would say the same thing.”
