I guess I picked a cool vacation spot.
This is where I'll be spending the night on February 27.
Young Excitement.
So it's been awhile since I've posted, mostly because I've had nothing to say. I do have something to share now, and it sort of makes me sad that I've grown up and become cynical and sort of bored.
I went to a Trampled by Turtles show the other night, and I was hanging out with my friend before the show and we spotted this pretty young looking kid who was grinning ear to ear. We decided he was probably stoned out of his mind which is very likely for a TbT show. After seeing him whip out a North Face fanny pack, we decided it might be interesting to chat with this kid so we asked him what he had in his fanny pack (naturally). Turns out, Justin just started school at UW-Madison and was a a big fan of Trampled. He was genuinely so excited that he was just smiling ear to ear while looking around the theatre. We talked a bit longer and my friend and I shared with him some other music talent from Minneapolis and some stories about college. He talked about how he was doing the pre-med track but wasn't really feeling it. He just wanted to help the poor and build houses. After he spotted some people he knew, we said goodbye. My friend and I resumed to our beer drinking. After the show we were able to catch Justin, and he was still grinning from ear to ear after the show.
After I got home, I realized that I don't have that 'newbie' excitement anymore. I'm not sure if it's just what happens when you get older, or if I'm just so sucked into this routine of work+after work that I tend to forget how awesome things like live music or a sporting event are.
I'm hoping to open myself up to some new experiences in the next few months in hopes of having a grin from ear to ear that the random freshman I met at a TbT show had.
