[So. Um...I’m back?]
In My Time of Dying
It was always one small thing, in battle. One different decision, one faster move, and Stiles would be sitting there with them.
And then, just like that, he was.
Merry Christmas, @nogitsuman!! <3
strawberryblonde-bxnshee:
Holding in a sigh as they went round and round in circles, the redhead stayed silent for once as he ranted at her. What was she thinking? Werewolves? Like that was the right thing to bring up to get him to believe. Mentally hitting herself for jumping the gun, the banshee tucked a stray curl back behind her ear, wishing Scott would turn up to put his best-friend at ease. She bristled at the fact that he actually thought that she stamped him as ‘stupid’, when he was the one who always worked with her to figure out all the supernatural bullshit that happened in this freaking town. Though she stilled herself, knowing to him it would have been a damn right shock for Lydia Martin to suddenly show interest. “I never said you were stupid Stiles, you’re not stupid.” “Your dad is with Melissa. But hopefully Scott is on his way.” She commented, even glancing out of the room window to spy out the alpha. Pursing her lips at his enquiry, the strawberry blonde contemplated whether it would be wise to actually tell him the truth. “You’re not going to like this, and you’ll think I’m lying again. But after a certain event with an alpha attack, Peter Hale, we kind of got… thrown together. You, me, Scott and Allison. Since then, when we all found out about Scott and everything, we kind of just… grew close. We’re the ones who come up with the plans and work out what the hell is actually going on.” She offered him a small smile when refering to just Stiles and herself. She opened her mouth to continue, when the door burst open to reveal who they both needed right now. Scott McCall. “Scott! Oh thank god.”
“Peter...Hale? As in the Hales? The ones whose house burned down a few years ago? And they’re werewolves?” Stiles had caught on the word ‘alpha’ and could assume that Peter was at least one. His eyebrows furrowed. “Who is Allison?” There was probably an Allison or two in his grade, but he didn’t actually know any of them, and Lydia was definitely not friends with any Allisons. She was obviously important, though, if Lydia was mentioning her.
Stiles’ head turned towards the door, a relieved ‘Scott’ on his lips, when he actually saw Scott. The words died as his jaw dropped. He squinted at the guy standing at the door. He looked like Scott, but he definitely didn’t look like the Scott that Stiles had last scene. Every last bit of baby fat was gone, his hair was cut, and he had muscles. “S-Scott? Is---Is that you?”
That little voice in the back of his mind that believed Lydia got louder. It was almost impossible for Scott to change that much in just a few days---or however long he was out for. His eyes slid back over to Lydia, wide with slight panic. “What---What do I look like? You said things have happened and that I have amnesia and obviously some time has passed. Let me see what I look like.”

“i think the others realise it. they just prefer to ignore the bad things until they have to address them. i don’t blame them, really. its no fun thinking about the bad things always.”
“When are they going to realize that ignoring something isn’t going to make it go away? It’s my job to do that. They’re the ones with the claws and fangs and can do something about it.”
caoinxbas:
“The scream can break things, Remember when I was in Eichen and I tried to escape? I used my voice as a weapon to fight my way through. It’s pretty awesome to be honest but I don’t want to try it on you.” She chuckled a little. “I know right honestly no matter what you are, you should learn how to fight because I can’t lose you.” She spoke softly before rolling her eyes. “Well, maybe we are in a Disney movie. Just believe Stiles.”
“Holy shit. That’s---That’s pretty cool. How did you learn that?” Stiles chuckled with her. “Yeah, I’d appreciate if you didn’t use it on me. Feel free to use it on the bad guys though.” He sighed. “Yeah. Yeah, I know. Maybe I can make mountain ash, like, fly up bad werewolves noses? If I believe it can fly? That would be weird but really cool. And really handy. I guess I’d be able to trap supernatural people. That would also come in handy.”
“I am not your fucking kid to look after!” (vampire AU)
Angst Starters
“As much as you hate it, you basically are. I created you, Malia, and I am responsible for you. Anything reckless that you do could get both of us killed.” Stiles growled, his red eyes flashing brighter.
“You shouldn’t have saved me! I’m not worth living!”
Angst Starters
“Of course you are!” Stiles couldn’t believe what Malia was saying. “I’ve already lost enough people, Malia. I’m not going to lose you too!”
haletheking:
Derek cast an exasperated look Stiles’ way, and then grit his teeth as he more or less proved Stiles’ point. It was impossible to just act like Stiles wasn’t here, though. He’d always been, if nothing else, impossible for Derek to ignore.
And that hadn’t changed, no matter what else had. It was confusing, pulling hard at his sense of reality in a way that made him halfway question whether he was actually crazy all over again. With Stiles standing here in front of him, rambling out half-formed theories and questions as usual, it felt like the last few days hadn’t happened, almost. Like nothing had changed.
Except that the rest of the pack had gone wary, and were looking at Derek like he might need mental help, instead of rolling their eyes at Stiles along with him.
“Stiles’ ghost,” he corrected pointedly, and then eased back, turning his gaze toward Scott. This was probably a terrible idea, but he couldn’t exactly take it back now. “I see him,” he added, softer. “I don’t know why, I know it doesn’t…” Make sense. “He just… he’s here. And he just told me a story about a sandcastle when you first met I’m not sure needs repeating. And…” He looked at Lydia, saw her brows furrowed critically. “He says that when he was possessed you and Scott went into his mind, saw a white space and him playing Go against the Nogitsune.” He blinked as he said it, glanced back at Stiles. “A board game?”
It wasn’t exactly what he would have expected from a mental battle against a demon. Too surreal… but then, so was this whole situation.
“Hey! Our origin story is unique! And it’s not that inappropriate...”
Scott’s head whipped to where Derek had looked. “Yeah! Yeah, that’s true! Only us and our parents know that story!”
Stiles couldn’t help but smile at Scott’s enthusiasm, though his eyes were still sad. It was obvious that Scott still couldn’t see him---looking just to the left of Stiles. At least Scott believed that he was there, and at least someone could see him. Maybe it was a good thing that it was Derek that could see him. He probably would have a much better time convincing everyone that Stiles was real than Scott or his dad would have.
Stiles frowned while Lydia narrowed her eyes. “Hey, it’s not like I got to choose what we were doing. If it were my choice, we would have been playing chess. Actually, if it were my choice, I wouldn’t have been possessed and everyone would have been happy and okay. But it wasn’t my choice, and playing Go was the mental representation of fighting for my body. I wasn’t doing a very good job if you couldn’t tell.” He said that last part bitterly.
“You think this is karma? For, like, killing Allison and Aiden? Is this punishment or something? Oh shit, do you think Hell exists? I really don’t want to go to Hell, Derek. What if you send my soul on or whatever and I got to Hell?” Stiles was starting to panic again.
lobitahale:
“She left it here. I’d say it’s fair game,” Cora replied. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you from Braeden. . I mean, I can always just tell her I drank them. She won’t do anything to me.” They’d only met a few times, but there was a mutual respect between the young women.
“I mean, technically you are drinking them. At least some of them.” Stiles brought the beers over and set them on the coffee table. He held one out to Cora. “Would you do me the honor of opening it, Ms. Werewolf Strength?” He jumped back up suddenly and went back into the kitchen to grab a few glasses. He came back and set them down next to the beers. “It’ll probably be a good idea for me to mix it in a cup instead of directly in the bottle.”
Angst Starters
[Tw: suicide, abuse, murder.]
“Can’t you see I’m hurting you?!” “Damn it… Oh, fuck… What the fuck did I do?” “Just leave. Please.” “I am not your fucking kid to look after!” “You could have pretended to actually care.” “I’m not the one who ruined everything!” “What do you know about my damn life?!” “Fuck you!” “This is not a game. You can’t be doing this to people!” “You weren’t there when I needed you the most?” “Where were you?! Tell me?” “You fucking cheater!” “You shouldn’t have saved me! I’m not worth living!” “You’re weak!” “You have nothing without me.” “Who the fuck is going to love someone like you!” “Don’t touch me ever again!” “I will break you.” “I’m a terrible person!” “You can’t always run away from your problems!” “What have you done for me?” “No, I’m fucking done with this.” “You’re on your own. I’m not going to risk my ass for scum.” “I have to do this.” “You made me do this!” “Just leave!” “You’re insane.” “I know… I know… I’m so fucked up.”
strawberryblonde-bxnshee:
“I know, I know Stiles I’m sorry. I don’t mean to scare you, but you have to listen to me. It’s the truth, I promise you.” Lydia stated, hoping he could see she was being genuine, she would never lie to Stiles, not after everything they had been through together. “Okay, okay, okay.” The strawberry blonde surrendered, throwing up her hands to punctuate her words in a gesture. She needed to back off when he got this agitated, angry Stiles was hard to communicate with. The girl listened to him ramble, waiting for him to calm down a little before she spoke again. Her presence was causing him discomfort, which even though stung, was something that couldn’t be helped. He needed a more reliable source. He needed Scott. “It’s alright, I understand. You won’t believe me, it’s okay. But it’s not a nasty joke Stiles.” This was too much for him, he was already distressed as it is. What was she thinking, if he had lost that much memory that he was back to being sixteen… no way would he believe this if she said it back then. Sixteen, all those years… gone. He didn’t remember anything they’d been through, not the alpha pack, the darach, the nogitsune… nothing. They were back to square one. The fiesty female forced herself not to think about that right now, not to let her emotions get the best of her when he needed her to be strong and factual with him. “Alright… do you want to see Scott?” She inquired, crossing her fingers for him to cooperate.
“It’s pretty tough for me to believe that what you’re telling me is the truth. You’re telling me that werewolves are real. Not even Scott would believe that, and I can get him to believe a lot of bullshit. He can be pretty gullible sometimes...” Stiles shook his head. “But that’s not the point! The point is that I’m not stupid. I’m like right behind you in grades, you know. But you probably don’t. It’s not like you pay attention to me anyway---well, except for now.”
“Yeah, I’d like to see Scott. And my dad. If he’s not here though, he’s probably working right now.” Stiles eyed Lydia Martin warily. “So if this isn’t a joke, how did we become friends?” He still believed it was a terrible prank and was curious as to what she had come up with.
caoinxbas:
“I don’t think it does but it wouldn’t hurt for you to learn to be honest.” She said with a soft shrug as she sat down on the bed next to him. Giving a bit of thought as she thought back when she tried to escape from Eichen. “Yes, actually it does. So does the scream. It’s weird but Stiles honestly if you want to I can teach you what I know. I promise I’ll take it easy on you.” She said giving him a wink. “That’s because you are special always have been…All you got to do is think it and believe maybe it’ll work the same way?” It was at least worth a shot right?
Stiles looked at her, his eyebrows shooting up in surprise. “Wait, really? What exactly can the scream do?” He couldn’t help but grin goofily. “Look at that. Never would I have thought that Lydia Martin would teach me how to fight. Man, we’ve really changed these last two years.” He shrugged, his lips twisting into a frown. “I gotta be honest. That sounds like the weirdest and most stupid power. It’s like something from Disney. I just gotta believe. Isn’t that how they brought Tinkerbell back?”
wcntbite:
…fair.
“ it’s…fine, “ he mumbled softly, averting his gaze. “ it’s fine if you meant it, i understand. “ even so, it was clear the other boy’s words were already affecting him. the teen rubbed the back of his, then shook it. “ your heart didn’t skip or anything when you said it, “ he admitted with a shrug, his voice low. “ i wouldn’t trust me either. i’m a terrible friend, and you didn’t deserve being thrown into this. i… i always mess up. “ he pulled his wrist up to his cheeks, wiping away whatever tears had managed to fall from his eyes, drawing in a sniffle.
there were several points in their friendship where they questioned each other on things, or were at odds with each other. but never had either of them told the other that they lacked trust in them. though he’d suspected it’d be the result of his fault, he didn’t like hearing it. he didn’t like facing the truth that he’d done something so awful to make his best friend feel that way.
“ if you could just let me try and help, “ he started cautiously, trying to calm the waver in his tone “ then once you’ve found an anchor and proper control, you’ll no longer have to deal with me. it’s probably better that way, anyway. i turned you, but i’m not your alpha. you don’t have to stay – you don’t have to stick by me after what i did. but please, just let me help you with this. “
Stiles closed his eyes for a moment and let out a breath. “Look, you’re...not completely at fault. You are right in that I might have done the same thing. You---You are my brother, Scott. I just...This is going to take some getting used to for me. I’m not exactly known as Mr. Calm and Collected, you know.” He chuckled, but it sounded sad.
“You think---You think my dad will look at me differently or something? He always had a harder time accepting werewolves, you know? Or maybe he’ll be disappointed because I almost got myself killed and I had to have you save me.” Stiles was still chuckling, but tears were now threatening to fall from his eyes once more. He scrubbed at his eyes roughly. “I have nothing against werewolves. Of course I don’t. I---I---”
The anger drained out of him completely now. His body sagged, worn out from the stress of being on the brink of death, only to be brought back by the bite of a werewolf. He was left standing there, pathetically crying as reality truly hit him. He would never truly be in control of himself again---would never be human again.
haletheking:
Derek had been staring too long at what must have, to the rest of the pack, seemed like a patch of empty air. When he finally looked back from Stiles he saw them all staring at him, Scott’s ruffled expression shifted into something softer. Half concerned, half wary.
And he hadn’t even told them he was seeing dead people yet.
He tossed a frustrated look back at Stiles, like any of this situation was actually his fault, before tilting his head back, locking his eyes on a particularly shadowed patch of ceiling instead.
“I think Stiles’ spirit is still here.” The room went too quiet, even breaths stalling while heartbeats slammed out of rhythm in sync. “…I know he is.”
“Stiles is here? Are you sure?” Scott took a step forward, his eyes darting around the room. The others did not look as hopeful.
“You may want to expand a bit on that, Sourwolf. Right now you just sound a bit crazy. Talking to yourself and looking at things that aren’t there aren’t helping you either.” Stiles refused to look at Scott as he spoke, not wanting to see the hesitant hope that he could hear in Scott’s voice. Even if he wasn’t a ghost, he wouldn’t be here for long. He didn’t want to be the one to crush Scott again.
“Also it sounds really weird when you say that, ‘Stiles’ spirit’. They usually say that on ghost hunting shows when they’re not a full-bodied, fully conscious ghosts. Oh, dude. Do you think that there are, like, actual ghost hunters out there? Like the Argents? But for ghosts? How would you even hunt a ghost?”
