Since Aven is the one that goes underwater, he can also use his abilities (wind and fire elemental) underwater. And it got me thinking: When the fire elemental is used against an enemy underwater…is Aven technically “burning” the water or “boiling” the water?

So, throughout the game until you get to the final boss (the god thing or the Worldless) after the final hybrid is absorbed—I noticed that the left side of the infinite health bar is another bar? (Don’t remember the word for it) And if you make contact with it before the spear or attack it after the spear, it begins to fill up. And it got me wondering if it can be fully filled up or not. If it can, then how and will it have any effect on the ending of the game or not? If not, why not?

Hi! Thanks for your message — you understood it perfectly! Right now we're working on another game that doesn’t have a release date yet. As for Worldless, unfortunately there are no plans for a sequel or any DLC at the moment, sorry about that. If that ever changes, we’ll announce it through our social media channels. Was Xenogears ever an inspiration? I thought it was unlikely, but with the recent mention of Evangelion in the newsletter, might as well ask!

If not: for context, here's a dialogue that plays out when the party comes across a pair of statues of one-winged angels inside a cathedral, which Edda and Aven always remind me of:

"Did you notice that the two great angels only have one wing each? According to a legend handed down in Nisan, God could have created humans perfectly, but then, humans would not have helped each other. So that is what these great single-winged angels symbolizes, in order to fly, they are dependant on one another."

"Ah, so that is the reason for it. I see, on further inspection, the left angel looks somewhat masculine, while the right one looks somewhat feminine. Now that is an unusual feature, is it not? Usually these depictions are not gender-specific. But these angels are clearly distinguishable as having opposing genders. And the space between them is the path from where God advents, or could it be the path leading to God? Well, I do not know, it could be either, or even both."

During the battle with Worldless, when they destroy the constellation (map), lines appear in the background. What does this mean? Do they have any significance?

Hello! 👋 The map in the game represents the world so by destroying each line, it means Worldless is collapsing the current existence, shown as well by the cracks in the background each time a mapline is broken.

If Edda and Aven were centaurs, what kind of animal they would be? Bonus points if it's something that's not a horse.

(I know I drew both of them as centaurs already, but I think it's a fun question to ask)

On a slightly more serious note, were there any inspirations for Edda's design? I know about the inspirations behind the game in general, but were you inspired by anything (or anyone) for her design?

There's some inspirations. As big fans of fighting games, like Soul Calibur 2, Cassandra was an inspiration for some base starting point, like using a sword and a shield, the shield throw move, guard impact, and so on. Non specific, Odin Sphere art and style was the initial inspiration, but that kind of visual quality was too labourious to produce. So a more abstract style was chosen, inspired after watching some movies like The Fountain that have a more esoterical and grandiose feel without overdoing visuals.

Hello! There's no right formula, but some initial steps that can help you are, for example: imitating something you like, starting with something simple. Also, looking at lots of references and analyzing frame by frame. Or if you're looking for something more serious, you could consider professional education.

You mentioned in a twitter post that the monoliths were inspired by Tunic - are there any other mechanics inspired by Tunic?

Also, were there any puzzle ideas or mechanics that never made it in?

Helloooo! 1- no more tunic inspirations 2- initially there was the idea to lock navigation upgrades when interacting with neutrals through a small sonar use puzzle, something that we used for the murals.

Hi! Good question 🤔 The goal was to separate Edda from Aven so that players could get an introduction to Aven and his ability to survive underwater.

As you know, Worldless is intentionally open to interpretation—so any explanation you come up with for this event could be valid!
