How do you make your collar chain?

Uh I got some minis that happened to have holes in them so I could attach a jump ring and a chain, then I glued the bases to some small flat pins with a really strong contact cement. They were those great little Canadian flag pins. Apologies to my beautiful country.You could make your own holes? In things? Instead of getting things with holes in them already?
