Very basic Birka style pouch for my faire garb. Not super hisitorically accurate due to the leather & thread type, but close enough for display. not too fancy as i portray a craftsman not a rich jarl or something. so it gets the job done of holding my wallet and phone while i chat with patrons :)

Got some new toys recently for the shop. I know I’ve been absent a lot but I also just purchased my first leather sewing machine.
+
I’m hoping that with the new machine I’ll be able to up production a bit more as sewing was something keeping me from making an inventory as much, and also with ease of production I hope to pass on some savings to you the customer.
+
I intend to be a bit more active on here if possible so thank you for sticking around this far :)

Reblogging because this is one of the best videos i have. Still so very pleased with it.
Kasteel Noz California.
Built single handedly by one man for over 29 years, and the Sjörvalder vikings were invited to warm ourselves at its hearth, and drink & laugh into the night.

im so excited to finally be wearing clothes the same as the ancestors and eat, drink, and live the way they did if but for moments, to understand them better. donning these clothes feels like a re-connection and rekindling of something that has felt “lost” since many of us don't have strong connections to our roots or ethnic traditions. its exciting to embrace something that feels old but familiar and just feels right

i am finally joining a viking living history guild, learning more about viking history and culture, and exploring the knowledge we have of heathen/pagan beliefs, but also working on shamanistic garb. i finally feel more “ready” than i ever have to embrace the pagan ways and tap into that unseen energy and trance like state of the shamans. Galdr, runes, sacrifices, blood, fires, and bones. adornments of the dead and celebrating life, the sun, the gods, and pursuing that thirst for life the vikings knew so well.
finally feeling less “imposter syndrome” due to the reconstructed nature of the religion with less traditions that feel well established. feeling more open to embracing what can be reconstructed but also knowing that times changes and evolve as so much the practices, and being willing to try new things and create our own traditions and songs.

Update on my beautiful bag
I wanted to do an update on the amazing bag I got from @norsemanleatherworks since it has been close to two years now since I got it. I would have to go back to see exactly how long it has been but I know it was over a year and a half. Regardless, it is still as beautiful as the day it came in the mail and I still love it.
I wear it as a purse since I carry it to work, and my slacks won’t accommodate a belt, so I use a cheap fake leather purse strap for it. I need to get a real leather one that matches so it doesn’t take away from the beauty, but I never have the time or money. Lol. Anyway, on to the pictures!
Not as pretty with that ugly strap, but damn I still feel my breath catch when I look at it! Revel in its beauty!
I have banged this sucker on so many things. My kids have knocked it to the floor. I have even slammed it in the front door a few times. But look at how the nicks and scratches made it look even better! This is one of the reasons I love leather so much. Worn=better
I am used to carrying a much larger bag. Friends and family tease me and say I carry a suitcase. This is not a large bag. So, I stuff this puppy as full as I can. It takes some work to close it. And I open and close it a LOT. But not a busted seam or messed up hole to be found. The braiding has held up perfectly everywhere! There’s not a single gap or stretched area to be found!
Finally, the detailing. Look at how vibrant the red still is! Looks as perfect as the day I got it! You can see where I scratched right across the flap, but yet no damage to the red!
I am going to still be using this when I’m 90 and loving it just as much as I do now!
love it when our products bring joy :)
