Mouth of a Sailor || Alex & Lysander
“Don’t forget to be sure of yourself. Speak from your stomach and straighten your shoulders.” Lysander accentuated his words with his hands and own posture. He offered her a reassuring smile, hoping it would encourage her in the process.
“You can do this, Alex, I know you can.” He said with genuine enthusiasm. “Just remember to think happy thoughts, strong happy thoughts that can shoot out of your wand. Take your time and when you find it, hold onto that thought and say the incantation loud and clear.” He stepped aside to give the wee one some space to think and prepare herself. It was a tricky spell, he was willing to stay until she at least had a good start on it.
She thought of the owlry and of the animals she had befriended. Shoulders straight... From the stomach... “Expec... Expecto...” Deep breath, Alex. “Expecto P-patronum.”
Nothing. She thought of the day her letter to Hogwarts came. Nothing. The first Christmas feast. Nothing. The Halloween party. Nothing.
“I can’t do it!” she screamed. “Face it, I’m a lousy witch. I can’t do anything right. I try and try and I just... can’t okay?!” She turned to face Lysander, shaking with rage at her incompetence. Her voice lowered so that it was barely audible. “I just... I can’t.”
“I’m sorry, you don’t want to hear this. I... I should have put a silencing charm on the door.”
