"A dark street is no place for a lady in this time, let alone in your condition," the man with the familiar voice called from further down the alleyway.
The woman paused her footsteps as the voice sounded, a voice so familiar, one she recently heardâŠ
â..Monster?â She tilted her head in the direction the voice came from, nearly straining to see if she was correct or not. His words were..off-settling somehow, however true they were.
"A dark street is no concern of mine," answered the redhead, a frown on her features. "I am far capable of handling myself, thank you.." Lies.
Don't rob any banks! Without me!
"Itâs time I stepped out of the darkness and into the light."

"You are all I have, monster, but all will be well. Imperfect as we are, there will be room for us in the new Jerusalem.Â
No. No! Where are you, monster? Where are you?â

"AdaâŠ"
That voice. She knew that voice. A voice she hadn't thought she'd hear again.
"...Clara?"
How was this possible? She left with her Monster.
No, stop. What're you doing?
Who are you?! I don't deserve this. Seriously.
Are...are you guys lost, maybe..?
Oh, Ada.
â- How do you know my name?â
âHow can I explain this? I came to visit you, Ada, because of a friend of yours - yes, a friend. You helped him by choice and he wouldnât have survived, without your aid. You called him Monster, a word well too suited for m- sorry, I tend to still ramble. Apparently. You seem to have been doing a wonderful job here in Sweetville. Iâd probably change that name, if it brings you bad memories.â
The name rang a bell in her mind: Monster. Yes, she'd called a certain one that, when he survived the...treatment. But she wondered how he knew this; did the man tell him? That is it, she assumed. But her Monster tended to ramble, too..
"What would I change it too? I couldn't possibly..I don't know."
Clever sits on a box in the shadows. "Hello there."
The redhead whirls around upon hearing the voice. âWhoâs there?â She demanded, a bit hesitantly.Â
Clever stops in front of her. Figures, no one can ever understand him, they are just to slow. The only person close when it came to brains was the Doctor. But she was not he. If you ask a person, what is home, where is it, and they tell you, why do you usually not ask, âwell why isnât this other place not your home? What makes this place your home and not the others?â If they were smart enough, they would say itâs because of other, that live there, the memories, the experiences, theâŠwell, thing that that place has that no other place in the universe does? Humans are humans, trees are trees, the sky is the sky, but what makes earthâs sky not the sky of another planet.? What makes this very spot different from all the others? Iâll give you a hintâŠâ He leans into her ear.Â
"Who, am, I? Or should we say, what am I? And, who, are, you?â
The beating of her heart picked up when she sensed that the man was nearby, so close...in front of her. Her first reaction was to take a step back, but she didn't. Instead, she took a deep breath and braced herself for whatever he would do, and hoped he wasn't like mother..
A shiver ran down her spine at the closeness of him, his breath against her ear. She closed her eyes as she started to shake her head once more in answer. She didn't want to listen to him anymore, his riddles that made no sense.Â
Useless, past memories rushed by, reappearing behind her eyelids. Things she'd shoved to the deepest depths of her minds, to never remember again.
"I do not know!" Ada repeated in a coarse whisper as she turned her head away from him. "A monster..." She murmured after a moment's thought, answering all his questions at once. She herself was a monster, the word her mother used so often it was engraved into her mind.Â
Since the pudding had already been invented, the Doctor had decided to go help in the creation of the dog â and Donna, with little interest in canines below the level of her knee, had opted to now wander Victorian Yorkshire alone. She herself was half a terrier, by now trained to sniff out oddities, and the greatest one she soon found ( aside from all these women being oddly tolerant to the hell that were corsets ), was an iron gate, chained, and battered, with a fully deserted community behind. Sheâd frowned, then tried to ask passerbyâs, but the very nearest, several lanes away from that large fence, had responded with silence and mutters of sin. It was a case closed, was all she peeled from them, so she ought to leave the Crimson Horror to its rest. Theyâd suspiciously stared at her hair after their confession, and then quickly moved on. Donna didnât. She returned, instead. Sweetville. Rattling the gates did her little good, and she wasnât sure why she had expected otherwise. The Doctorâs sonic would very much come in handy now, but he was very much busy with his puppies, so this was one for Health and Safety and her skills of infiltration. Sheâd barely set a foot between the bars when it already slid away, so she gave up on that, too.
Biting her lip, Donna backed away. Her arms first crossed underneath the tilt of her head, only for them to loosen again and her hands to obstinately land upon the width of her hips. Loophole. Entrance. Had to be something theyâd forgotten. Sheâd just make a whole tour around the walls.Â
The young woman was seated in the dining room, a cup of warm tea in her lace-covered hands, the scent of lemon reaching her nostrils. It was rare, these moments by herself, that she truly enjoyed, and was able to concentrate and put her thoughts together. No mother, no people to interact with.Â
Moments passed before she started to feel slightly uneasy. It was usually not this quite..then she heard it. Rattling. Coming from outside. Mild panic surged through her and thoughts and images of angry mobs with fire and sharp tools come to take her away, to end her misery, were conjured in her mind. But that soon faded in the dark corners other mind when other sounds reached her ears.
Setting down the half-finished cup of tea, she arose from the chair to go investigate, curiosity now over-power the fear. It was still there, but curiosity one. One could say it killed the cat, and hoped it won't be the same for her.Â
Ada made her way to the front of the mansion without the help of her cane, her hands creeping along the roughness of the walls to guide her to the main door. The sounds were louder, here. She assumed it was the iron gate that separated Sweestville from the rest of the town, that barricaded her in this hellhole she called home.Â
She took a deep breath and opened one of the doors that led outside, and stepped out. So far, so good. Everything seemed fine, now. No sounds reached her: none of rattling, of iron against iron, nothing. And that caused her to worry once more.
"Hello?" She called out hesitantly.
"Nah, not at all!" Kira reassures her. It would be really rude to make a blind person move at all if they just sat down.
Her smiled turned to one of gratitude and she inclined her head. She was not used to acceptance, or whatever this was that was being shown to her.
"Thank you...You said the sun was shining, yes?"
Clever sits on a box in the shadows. "Hello there."
The redhead whirls around upon hearing the voice. âWhoâs there?â She demanded, a bit hesitantly.Â
"Plenty, for example, who, as is, to you, me, is not a common connection, but what, now, to your kind that is a question to be counted for." He walks around, cane clicking on stone and wood here and there.Â
"What is here, a question no one actually knows. For example, we are in a populated town, city, what ever, full ofâŠhumans. Now, what is here? Is it just a city full of humans? Are there not other such places? What, in here?âŠHere in this very small area of the city that makes what and who acceptable to your questionâŠDo you understand any of that?â
Her eyebrows furrowed as she listened to him talk, confusion etched onto her face. What he said didn't make too much sense to her, and could hardly make anything out. All she got was the sounds that reached her, footsteps on the ground and a cane clicking as the man moved around.
City full of humans...Humans. Was he suggesting he was not human, but an alien of some sort? That caused her to worry, and a pang of fear ran through her. She had history with an alien before, and it didn't turn out right, except for the end. Should she continue to be in his presence, hear him out, or try to make a run for it? Decisions will have to wait. Did he just ask a question?
Ada shook her head, red curls bouncing against her face. "No, no...I do not." Her voice quivered slightly, and she hated herself for it. The weakness of herself, all her life.
"Oh, sorry for scaring you like that." Kira tells her. She saw her walking stick and seeing the scarring on her face; Kira knows that sheâs blind.
She smiled weakly. "It is alright, I just didn't realize.." Ada trailed off and relaxed her grip slightly on her cane. "You..do not mind if I stay here, do you?" She asked, hesitantly.Â
Clever sits on a box in the shadows. "Hello there."
The redhead whirls around upon hearing the voice. âWhoâs there?â She demanded, a bit hesitantly.Â
Clever smiles. âQuestion you should ask is whatâs here.â
She paused as she thought over what he said. What is here? That was a good question, but she didn't hear anything out of the ordinary.
"What do you mean..? There is you, and then there is me..What else is here?" She inquired in a low tone.
+1
Felling someone siting down with her on the bench, Kira says in her Boston accent âItâs nice to have the sun out again, right?âÂ
Ada settled down on what seemed like a bench, after finding it. With a start, she turned her head to the direction the voice came from, not realizing there was somebody there.
"Oh, yes. Very nice," she murmured in agreement. It was rare to enjoy the sun, especially when the heat reached skin.
Clever sits on a box in the shadows. "Hello there."
