The first time in forever I'm writing anything. I've been lost as to what to with this blog, but I felt drawn to trying my hand at poetry and thought I could put it here, to see how it feels. I want to use it as a way of experiencing myself, understanding better how I see things, so it may be a bit all over the place and out there but I want to keep it genuine and unedited. If anyone does end up reading any of this, I hope you enjoy, or at least find it interesting

Identity

What am I?

The pressure of now, one of infinite

The only there ever will be.

I know this and the next, but never the one before.

That was now, too.

Where did it go?

Where did I go?

I am here.

Was I there? I was, I must have been

Not an I, but I

I am what is, a thing of change.

Impossible to examine, never the same

But still me.

There is no me to lose, to fall away

Either still is, or never was.

No matter, nothing lost.

I am here, always.

For as long as here is now,

So am I.

Writing without intention

To see the thoughts as they are

Where will they lead?

The wind quietens

It was howling so loud

Forcing closed the windows to my room

I still hear the rain

What does it say?

Speaking without words

Talking to soul, not mind

Still I hear, still I think

Mind wrests control

Pleading to examine, to know

And yet, beneath the microscope

It is just rain.

The drumming rises again

A rythmic tap

Gentle fingers against glass

A tune heard only once

Before the wind rises again

To carry it away

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.

Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.

So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.

Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

As the OP of this post, I’m going to threaten that if this gets to one million notes by the 10 year anniversary on 1 June 2026, one year from today, I will get a lower back tattoo of the loch ness bear monster.
