A little more info on when and how the system works!
Time Travel of the Digital type
I found my myspace.com profile from when I was in middle school. As far as I can see, I used social media as a way to “express myself” back then and let my inner feelings out. I had an assortment of pictures, profile background (that has since been deleted for Myspace’s “new” layout). Something I noticed right away is that it states that my profile image was changed in 2013, the only problem is the image was put there in 2008. Myspace used to have a customizable profile where you could add music, change the background, rearrange the chat boxes, etc. Because the site has changed, a lot of that content is gone so the only footprint left from me are pictures that are still tagged to albums I created.
Now in this day in age I use sites such as Facebook, various forums and Tumblr (when my class requires it). Instead of pushing all of my emotions on to a page, I generally sit back and laugh at other people emoting on the web. It really is a complete turnaround because what I once did on Myspace is what I make fun of to some extent today: putting your personal woes and frustrations for all the world to see instead of talking to a buddy about it.
This little digital time travel has shown me that not only has social media changed, but how I interact with it. I feel that a lot of us are in that boat as well. For some reason however it was a complete 180 for me. I feel as if I would want to punch myself in the face.

North Korea has warned US and South Korean forces that it will unleash a “preemptive strike of justice” in order to maintain its security. This is a direct response to the South Korean armed forces and US armed forces conducting annual war games, a simulated combat situation in which the two allies practice tactical movements and unit cooperation. The North Korean government sees this yearly training as a practice for invasion and has issued multiple warnings to the coalition forces to the South. This is honestly something that happens every year and honestly it is kind of funny.
Some basics of what is happening: The US (15,000 troops) and South Koreans (300,000 troops) conducted two exercises called Foal Eagle and Key Resolve. This is the largest war game these two nations have ever done together. A few days prior to this training exercise was the UN sanctions on North Korea for testing nuclear weapons. The now infuriated North Korea threatens that it has and will prime their nuclear warheads for their preemptive strike against the pending “invasion”. The US is said to be moving medium range missile defense countermeasures in to the South Korean peninsula, a move China, North Korea and Russia are very opposed to.
So what gives? Is it right for the South Koreans to team up with team America and conduct such large combat simulations? Is North Korea in its own right to defend its borders? What about the missile defense program coming from the US, is there a good justification that Russia and China have such strong opposition about this? Honestly my answer is pretty straight forward: Yes, not in that way and shut up China and Russia.
The US and South Korean war games is a military exercise meant to build a strong working tie between the two nations as well as practice military maneuvers. Could these maneuvers lead to an invasion of North Korea? I guess if they wanted to sure, but honestly this is not an uncommon practice with many nations across the globe. North Korea responds with a threat of nuclear weapons. Many experts are skeptical to the actual readiness of these weapons. Besides, is that really the response to a tactical war game? Definitely not. This happens every year and the training exercise begins and ends all the same. Finally the US has every right to move missile defenses in to South Korea. These are for defense, blowing missiles out of the sky. The article has a fun picture you could color in if you want! These are countermeasures for a nuclear strike. Defense from nuclear attack, come on now Russia and China.

Facebook Investigation?
In this article social media site Facebook is being accused of breaching data protection laws when it has you agree to those privacy terms. Because of Facebook’s size this has been voiced as an “abuse of market power”. One of the things they look at is how Facebook generates revenue. What Facebook does is advertise to a wide audience on your personal user data. So if you are a huge puppy enthusiast, expect some puppy ads or dog food commercials popping up on your page. The issue is whether or not Facebook has the right to access that much of your personal information. Can Facebook use their terms of privacy to advertise to its many users based on their personal web surfing information? Let’s look at user problems then dive in to what the article is arguing.
So we have two players in this conflict: Facebook and the Federal Cartel Office. Remember those fun NSA facts with the collection of personal contact information? Well I’m pretty sure this isn’t like that. Honestly we use Facebook so often, it’s kind of our fault they have so much of our personal data. I myself get a lot of military ads due to my viewing preferences so Facebook likes to put those ads to my face. book. Lol. We as Facebook users don’t collectively hide information like we should as a whole so who really cares if they have personal data? I don’t think a Facebook representative is going to stalk me for all eternity let alone care who I am. They just use it to throw ads that interest me. I largely ignore them but hey I kind of like the ads personalized to my taste.
That is the consumer’s opinion. Then there is the abuse of power on Facebook parts. The argument is that Facebook is violating its own power to further its business. This largely puts down its competition using personal data that was obtained through somewhat sketchy means. Is it really against the law for Facebook to use this information? I say no. If you took the time to read all of the agreements when you first logged on I really don’t think this is that big of an issue. You did agree to it which is like signing a contract. No one is making you use Facebook so you cannot say they lured you in to a trap.
