Rabbit rabbit! Happy September â isnât it weird that September is actually the ninth month?
In 45 BCE, Emperor Julius Augustus Caesar inserted two extra months at the beginning of the Roman calendar to fix its drift from the sun. In 44 BCE, the 5th and 6th months (now the 7th and 8th) were renamed in his honor as July and August, but the rest of the calendar was left as it was. Nero once tried to rename September âGermanicusâ but it didnât catch on, and I for one am glad.
