Yes, it's only in the "Last Human" book by Doug Naylor. Not keen as it removes all responsibility from Rimmer for the way his life turned out. He does enough of that himself. ;)

i was over thinking about rimmer and him being malnourished as a child and it would make sense,he mentioned that his brother was 6’5 at 11 years old whereas rimmer is 31 and 5’11 .sure he passes the height restriction for the space corp but if you compare it to his brothers who were able to eat a bit more than him, there is a very stark difference in the height between them and the ages of which they were at that height.which would probably only cause his father to put him on the rack even more.

also just adding on to this,he’s never fit in ANYWHERE and never can like when he was younger he would have been always taller then his peers but the shortest out of his brothers and ridiculed for both.not doing well in academic subjects and being almost the lowest in his class where as if he got moved down he would have thrived (obviously)but that would be classed as essentially a moral failing.no matter what he does it’s never right,he can never do the right thing.
