"I mean if you don’t want one...”
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“If we go, I’m paying.” Davi had promised before, more than once, actually, that he’d start splitting the cost of dates with Evan. It never happened. He was persistent, to the point of sneaky, handing off his card before Evan could even realize it had happened. “Least I can do.” He kissed their shoulder, smiling. Was this a honeymoon phase? Probably, but Davi didn’t seem to care. It didn’t feel like the good times would ever end, and he honestly hoped they wouldn’t.
“Of course,” they rolled their eyes at him and poked his chest. “You do realize that one of these days we’re actually going to start splitting the cost of these dates right?” They looked up at him when he kissed their shoulder. Honestly, if this was some sort of honeymoon phase bullshit? Can they just keep it? “Stop making me like you so much, I’m going to start winding up slipping up in public with you if you keep doing this.”
“Murders are usually like that.”
“Sadly, hey wanna help me bury a body?”

“You could never annoy me.” He said, with a conviction that was startling, even to him. “Never.” He put his arm around them once more, giving a light squeeze. “If you ever feel that you’re annoying me, think again, okay?” He tries to sound softer, as if their insecurity didn’t bother him as much as it did. “Your script is good. Everything you do is good. You amaze me, honestly.”
They’d been seeing each other what now? A month? A little more give or take depending on when you wanted to count their relationship actually starting. Evan was still getting used to the whole idea of being in a relationship let alone how to navigate it. Sometimes Evan was fine and other times they were just a rather insecure mess that he tried to pick up. “Okay, I’m not annoying,” they mumbled briefly before settling back down against him and laughing. “Yeah, well, it helps when you have inspiration and people around you that care,” poking his stomach, Evan gave a small grin. “Speaking of having people around, do you maybe want to skip town and go to that really neat theater we saw and go see a movie?”
“Well, that honestly could have gone a lot better than it did....”

“I know, you’re just being cute. I want to cuddle you.” He frowned as Evan pulled away, glancing up at them. “This is good, so far.” He held up the script, setting it aside. “You’ll keep me updated as it develops, right?” Leaning over, Davi grabbed his cup of coffee. “It’ll be amazing once it’s finished.”
Evan gave a grin and then shrugged. “But you were busy reading that, though I didn’t know I was that distracting now Davi,” settling back against him after he’d grabbed his coffee, they gave a nod. “I mean, let’s be honest here, you’re the only one aside from Ash that gives a damn about this thing so I’ll probably be bombarding you with things about it. It’ll get annoying after a while.”

Davi smiled as Evan joined him in humming, reaching up to play with the hair at the base of their neck. “Are you having fun?” He kept his eyes on the script, a small smile playing on his face. “You’re being distracting.” Not that he particularly minded, but he wanted to actually read their script, seeing as they had asked him to.
Evan blinked, pulling back a little bit “I’m not even doing anything this time!” This time, unlike last time when they’d done something on purpose. They did however pull back enough so Davi could continue writing it. It was basically Hamlet with a serial killer twist, Hamlet being the serial killer of course. Ophelia was already dead, she had been Hamlet’s first victim by accident and drove him over the edge.

“You do actually have friends, Evan.” Davi murmured, keeping his voice low. He couldn’t really see Evan without craning his head into a weird position, but he felt the yawn against his side. He started reading, rubbing their arm with the hand around them, humming to the music softly playing. Pink Floyd, how embarrassing. It showed his age, too, given that it wasn’t exactly a popular choice nowadays. He didn’t think Evan would care, given how they’d treated everything else about him. It was a relief, honestly, to feel as though he could bare himself down to the core, doling out spoonfuls of information about himself without fear that Evan would throw it up.
"For now I do anyway," they mumbled. They were still convinced that eventually Ione and Ash were going to get sick of them and leave them alone. Usually that's the track record Evan had, the sad reality. Evan's lips twitched into a smile when he started humming because oddly enough, they knew the song he was humming, so they just sort of started humming along without meaning to. Evan did like classic rock just as much as they liked modern rock seeing as Jas's boyfriend would always play it. Scooting up, Evan just buried their face into the crook of Davi's neck, letting out a very small, content sigh.

“Hollywood never gives a damn about anything that matters to- oh, thank you.” Davi accepted the cup, taking a small sip to test its warmth before putting it on the coffee table. He leaned back just in time for Evan to rest their head on him, adjusting so their head was against his chest, arm around them. “I don’t think your hopes are crazy high.” He told them. “It’s a reasonable goal. And an attainable one, even. You’ll be the pioneer in crew-friendly, wardrobe-friendly gore.” He smiled. “What a title.”
Evan could get used to this, that small feeling of comfort that Davi provided and didn’t push for anything. They both just let things happen as they came. “Wow, just think, I might actually have friends if that were the case,” they said sarcastically. Falling quiet to let him read the pages, Evan just closed their eyes and yawned a little. “Just remember it’s still a work in progress,” they allowed their fingers to twist in Davi’s shirt to attempt to get as close to him as possible.

“You want me to read the cliffnotes or ignore them?” Davi asked, picking up the notebook. He opened it to the first page, glancing from it up to them. “Probably read them, right?” He leaned back against the loveseat, pushing aside a pillow that was behind him, pushing it onto the floor. “Corn syrup blood is the bane of my existence.” He mumbled, shaking his head a bit. “Can never get it out of my hair.” Looking up from the script, he tipped his head. “What sort of blood are we going for, here? Like, spray, smeary, pooling?”
“Read them, things will make more sense to you,” they commented and stood by the coffee pot and waited for it to be done brewing, searching for cups. “Well, I think I found a way that it would get out of your hair too. If I did then I can maybe market it, at least to small theaters because Hollywood doesn’t get a fuck bout things like that.” Pouring two cups, they walked over to him and handed him a cup before sitting down and resting their head against his arm. “Most of the stuff I’ve written thus far has been spraying, but I think that this would work for pooling too since it won’t be so sticky and it’ll be easier to clean up. My goal, ultimately is to make something that’s realistic yet easy to clean up. I have high hopes don’t I?”
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“I’d love to read it, yeah!” As the coffee was brewing, Davi headed back to his door, pushing it shut. There weren’t a lot of people on this floor, especially not at this time of day, but better safe than sorry. “They’re both alright. Healing, though, so they itch like a motherfucker.” He headed over to the loveseat and flopped onto it, pushing aside the sleeve of his shirt to show them. “See?”
“Alright, but I’m warning you, there’s cliff notes out the ass of things that I want to change for the final script so sorry for all the red,” they tossed the notebook down before sitting down next to him on the loveseat and looking at the mark with a nod. “Yeah, well, next time you’ll think twice of telling me to bite harder won’t you?” Evan gave a little smirk as they slumped down in the seat a little. “So, I think I actually came up with a way to make the corn syrup for the blood not so sticky, it’s still a work in progress but I added some of that non scented massage oil to it? and it seems to make it less sticky and a little more slick.”
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“As if I’d be caught dead with no coffee.” He headed towards the kitchenette part of the room, taking his abandoned cup with him to wash it out. “Why so early? Jesus. I don’t ever get up before 8, unless I absolutely have to.” He rinsed the coffee out, getting the machine ready to make more. “You can sit, yknow. It doesn’t bite.” He nodded at the loveseat.
Evan was wondering if they should prod him a bit about his ex.They decided against it at least for the moment. “I don’t know the mood just sort of hit me and I woke up, grabbed my notebook and started writing. I brought that over too in case you wanted to read a little of it. You seemed into the idea,” When he mentioned the loveseat not biting, Evan snickered. “Speaking of biting - how’s your shoulder? And your ribcage....and..I think that’s the only places I got ya right?”
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“It’s not my place anymore. My ex kept it.” Short and simple, though it didn’t convey his utter distaste for the entire situation. “Anyways, this is where I live.” He followed them inside, looking around the small studio as if attempting to see it through their eyes. Colourful, tidy, books and movies piled high on bookshelves around the room, polaroids of friends and family taped to the wall, along with a tie-dye tapestry and all of his movie posters, a half-finished cup of coffee on the coffee table. He thought it spoke pretty well to who he was. He’d even remembered to pull the screen across, mostly shielding his bed from view. “It’s not anything crazy or special.” He fiddled with the hook on the wall next to the door, glancing up at them.
“...Oh.” Evan said before falling quiet for a minute, looking around the place and taking everything in, the books, movies and right down to the posters. “Nah, it’s not, but it is very you,” they said before tossing the jacket over a chair and folding their arms over their chest. “Tell me there’s more coffee because Ithink I could use about four cups honestly. I’ve been up since six working on that Hamlet thing.”
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“Bit nervous.” Davi admitted, “Glad it’s dead, though.” He rubbed at the back of his neck, following them inside, the door slamming behind them. He didn’t jump, used to the loud bang by now. “Our rooms are bigger, but yeah, other than that it’s more of the same. Used to have an apartment, believe it or not.” The thought of the apartment left a sour taste in his mouth. “I’m this first one.” He gestured to it, having covered his door, at some point or another, with ticket stubs, giving it a personal touch.
"Mhm, me too," Evan didn't jump at the noise either, but normally nothing ever scared them. "Why'd you move into the dorms then if you had your own place?" Evan gave a curious look before looking over his door. "Yeah, well, you don't have to share with anyone. I would have never survived in the dorms," running their fingers over a couple of the stubs, Evan finally opened the door and walked in, starting to shrug the jacket off.
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
“Hey, Evan.” He smiled, standing and wiping off his butt, in case the front step had been dirty. “Like the jacket.” He reached out, thumbing the embroidered letters on the pocket, obviously pleased they had worn it. “Did you run into anyone?”
He pushed the butts of all four cigarettes into the ashtray by the door, pulling it open afterwards and gesturing for them to head inside. “After you.”
Did Evan have any intentions of returning the jacket? Maybe. But no one had been around when they made their way down the path. Summer really was dead around here. "Oh this thing? It's old," they gave a little grin before shaking their head. "Nah, place is kind of dead during the summer I guess? Okay, did you smoke all those in the span of waiting for me?" Shaking their head, they stepped into the hall and looked around. "Well nice to see you don't get special treatment. Yours looks the same as ours."
A Saturated Sunrise | Evan & Davi
Davi tried to act natural. He was waiting outside the teacher’s dorms, cigarette in hand, for Evan to show up. He’d had a shower, cleaned himself up, and apparently taken their advice to heart, hair secured from his face with the hairtie he’d taken from Ione. He fiddled with a loose strand, doing that to distract himself from pressing his fingers into the bruises Evan had left on him, hoping to make them last. He just had to breathe. Evan was a student, no one would say anything about them being here. And even still, it was summer. No one would really be around. Nerves still overtook him, the evidence obvious in the ash of three cigarettes next to him, having been chain-smoking like a madman.
Evan had dragged on an old t-shirt that had obviously been with them through good and bad but it was comfortable. Tugging on a pair of jean shorts, Evan gave themselves a once over in the mirror. Since when did they even care what the fuck they looked like for someone else? Oh. Right. When they met their future filmmaking professor. Finally they slid their sneakers on and Davi's jacket that he had 'left' at their place a few days ago.
Grabbing a book on film, they figured if anyone questioned them, they could be going to discuss something about film. While they didn't really care about getting caught, they knew he did. Running a hand through their hair as they approached the teacher's forms, Evan whistled seeing him in the distance before walking up to him. Noticing his hair tied back, Evan gave a little smile. "The fun has arrived."
