Sure, one may SEEM better than the other, but just because the penny is less EXCITING and more MUNDANE, it doesn’t mean it can’t make you happy.      They were all walking towards DEATH-- Some more briskly than others.  But he had never met someone who had RUSHED to it.

     Death, ideally, was something one flirted with. Something one respected and took on dates before following it back into it’s home. Death was something precious that followed life, leading into the next phase of existence. He couldn’t understand what it was like to skip past all the wonderful FOREPLAY and jump right into the MIDST of it all. 

“Well-- Broken bones heal STRONGER than they were before. When you heal, it will be the SAME. You just have to make it there first.”

     There were two types of BROKEN PEOPLE. 

Those who were BROKEN into pieces and could fit those pieces back together, and those who were BROKEN and CUT THEMSELVES ON THEIR OWN EDGES.

     Each sob that escaped this girl seemed to push her further and further towards the latter.

     “Don’t worry about it. Is there, uh... Anything I can do?” He asked, voice hesitant and uncertain. It wasn’t often he spoke to strangers so candidly, and it CERTAINLY wasn’t often that he was seen in the proximity of such bright colors... And yet, for someone who wore so many bright colors, her state of mind seemed to be anything but. 

“We could go bowling or grab some dinner or something? Do the whole teenage act for a night?”

     His age. His species. His area. 

     This girl could have had a MILLION THINGS in common with him, and yet that wouldn’t change the fact that SHE had TEARS running down her face and HE DIDN’T. It was strange, seeing someone so unhappy about being unhappy when he was perfectly fine being imperfect. He had been in a bubble for too long, and now, looking outside of it, he wanted nothing more than to go back in. And yet--

     He couldn’t just LEAVE her. He was a HUMAN, not a REPUBLICAN, for god’s sake. 

“It’s okay to not be okay,  but never, ever let that stand in your way. You’re strong down to the letter, I promise things will get BETTER.”

     The words left his lips easily as he knelt down in front of her, offering her his hand with a small smile.
