When’s the last time you went out in nature and really absorbed everything around you? Looking around at the branches and pine needles, thinking about the millions of years of perfect circumstances and conditions that allowed such perfect creations. The sun peaking over the western ridge to paint the Douglas firs in a warming yellow light. Watching the trees give in to the wind, and dance as air passes through the valley. The subtle thud of pine cones falling to the ground around you. Sitting and thinking about these regular everyday occurrences really makes you understand how lucky we are to be alive and conscious. Everything around you is much older. There’s so much experience and regular hardship that nature has and endures. Makes our trivial problems and issues seem so insignificant. Who cares what shoes you wear, or what car your neighbor drives.
Next time you have the opportunity I really suggest you just go outside. But really take the time to soak it all in. Let your mind think of everything around you and how it came to be what it is. Then don’t forget to do that with yourself. The world is a tiny place. We have a tiny life. Find your reason.
