Even after his turning, Steve had yearned to find the one person that was meant to be just his. He’d looked for colours with every new person he’d met and been disappointed every time. Then the ritual two years ago had happened and Steve had stopped looking, stopped searching his vision for a hint of colour, stopped bothering to even meet new people if he didnt have to for work.

He’d never expect to walk in to Taki’s after a long shift and lift his head to see a riot of colour as he looked at the waiter, “Holy fuck.” He breathed out as the waiter walked away. Then, not even caring that his apparent soulmate was a vampire, he got up and jogged after him, reaching out to grab his wrist, “Wait! Please wait.” He begged, finding that knowing his soulmate was strong enough to handle whatever the rite had done to him, made him want to know him.
