the day before we were set to move, my little snake Ramen died in a freak accident. found him that night in the corner of his cage when we noticed he hadn’t moved. it was heartbreaking. he may not have been with us for long, but he was a part of the family. Â
it's time to move.
and not just move on- though it's that, too- it's time to really move.
because i bought a house. never thought it would happen, but it did.
the joys of working logistics
this last weekend, i ran logistics for a first year con. overall, it was really great. by the end of the last night, i had a blister on my foot the size of a quarter and was totally dragging. the husband and daughter came for part of the last day, and, the husband at least, really seemed to like it. poor baby girl was not happy with her dada playing video games for ages while she had nothing to do. she kept trying to follow me, but, with one fire after another to be worked on, that means i have to move fast, and not at the speed of squirrel-child. next year, maybe no baby girl. or, if so, not for as long. on the topic of fires to be put out, it was a blast being able to feel helpful and see the organization come from the chaos haha. whether it was searching for panelists, working out kinks in setup, or just making sure that people had a chance to take a break and look around the con, there was a never ending list of tasks. but, i wouldn’t have traded that weekend at all.
What a Success!
Thank you, all, for helping make Kabochacon 2015 a success! It was such a great experience to see this convention truly come to life. We far surpassed our goal for attendees (We had more than 1! Yay!), and were overjoyed to see so many people enjoying themselves!
If you haven’t had a chance, take a look at the pictures posted on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/Kabochacon). If you have some pictures you would like to share, we would love to see it! In the meantime, here is a little taste of some of our photo fun!Â

another beginning
samhain is my favorite holiday and autumn is my all time favorite time of year. this year, it is time and more than time to take a step back and just take stock and enjoy. my daughter both surprised and impressed me a dew days ago by asking if she could join me in ritual this year. more and more often she has been asking about what i believe and saying that she wants to be a witch just like mama. she is learning that being a witch in real life is very different than what she sees from disney (yuck). it used to be that she was confused because i didn’t wear a pointed hat all the time, i was ‘a good mama’ and don’t do bad things, and my skin wasn’t green. that is when i decided to start telling her more about what being a witch means to me, what makes me a witch. that doesn’t mean that i’ll be teaching her in depth about my spirituality, but it does mean that she can become more involved if she wants. one thing i don’t want is to make her feel like i am not giving her a choice on what she wants to believe. we’ve already begun learning about herbs and their different uses, both in and out of the kitchen. since having a child was something i was told wouldn’t happen, having her is just a string of constant little joys and surprises. since i expected nothing, everything is more than i could have wanted. she is also a true wonder. she is almost always smiling and giggling. she loves to take care of and help others. she may have a huge attitude, but, if she didn’t, she wouldn’t be able to make everybody she meets fall so in love with her.
