Losing Hope

The thing about hope is no one can tell you what not to have hope in; no one but yourself. That is a scary place to be. Everyone has their dreams of gold and everyone has a breaking point, but where is the line drawn? There is a time to fight and a time to stop fighting. When is losing hope for something not considered giving up? Truth is, the universe doesn’t always endorse our own dreams, even with all the faith in the world. Self-indulging hope is really no hope at all. What if all is not lost when the only thing standing is you hopeless.

Self and Purpose

I️ keep looking for jobs as if they were the solution to my inmost issues. Fulfillment, legacy, something bigger than myself. What on Earth are we doing in this world? We are the zombie apocalypse; roaming around with no direction. Don’t forget to stop and really think about who you are, what you represent. It’s not about “if people will remember you or what they will remember you by.“ Those are selfish desires. It’s about fulfillment to yourself; which if you think about it, there is no greater self fulfillment you can have other than to die to thyself. Oh the irony. But how will this manage? It’s all meaningless. All of it. And yet, it’s the only way out.

Numb and Powerful

There are moments in life we’ve forgotten we’ve lived. Suppressing our senses to eliminate all form of recollection. Numb and powerful we stand in the center of our world staring into our new and distressed blank canvas. But blank nonetheless and yours. Make it worth recollecting.

Up on the mountain, on our most recent trip to Seattle, far from the world we live in, I imagined a place where we could all coexist. Surrounded by Mother Earth, it didn’t seem so difficult. Standing in the middle of nature came inspiration and overwhelming peace. All I could do was smile and take it all in. For I knew all good things come to an end.

I'm eating across the street from work today on this beautiful day and I come across a man who appeared to be homeless. He slowly strolled across the parking lot with what seemed to be his life in two baby carriages. Lately I've expressed a lot of frustration towards my career goals and where I want to be in life. "Be patient," they tell me. "It'll be worth it in the end." I know this and understand it, but still felt entitled and to some level narcissistic, thinking the world owes me something. It hadn't sinked in until this very moment. The moment this man literally stopped and stared right at me as I took a picture of him. Get off your high horse Elizabeth. It's going to be ok. Everything always is.
