Jimin can’t remember how Yoongi likes his coffee. Bitter or sweet, hot or icy cold, black or white - it’s one or the other and Yoongi changes his tune often enough that it’s hard to keep track. It might not even matter, if Yoongi’s smile says anything; says thank you and hello and that’s perfect all at once.
i remember i sent you some prompts but it was before this numbers thing... does that mean you didn't get them?
Hi! If you sent them after I posted that I’m back/prompts are re-opened then yep, I didn’t get them :( As a general rule, I reply to ALL prompts, even if it’s to say I won’t fill them (but like. I do try to fill most prompts).
(but if you sent them before I made that post, I probably deleted the prompt - I wanted a fresh start this year)
"Shh," Taehyung says, placing a finger over over Jimin's lips. "You have a bad feeling about everything."
"Well, yeah," replies Jimin, muffled by Taehyung's finger. "But I have a really bad feeling about it this time."
Taehyung waves him off and peers around the corner once more, ducking back quickly when he spots what he's been waiting for.
"Quick, hide," he hisses at Jimin, then drags both Jimin and himself into the conveniently situated cleaning closet. There's a tiny window, narrow but tall, and Jimin finds himself getting squished by Taehyung as they both try to peer through the panel of glass.
It's actually a kind of genius plan. Most of Taehyung's plans are, Jimin will concede that, but the problem lies in the execution of said plans. Jimin still shudders whenever he remembers the one involving Mrs Jeon's flowers, and how long it took to get the dirt and glitter and pollen out of his school blazer.
And Taehyung had called that one a low risk plan. Today's mission, as classified by Taehyung, is a Type III: Mildly Hazardous, Category E: Personal Gain plan, which means Jimin is sure it's fleshed out well on paper. He just hopes that it doesn't fall through. Taehyung has invested a lot of time and resources on trying to woo one Jung Hoseok and Jimin would actually feel bad if it doesn't work out.
"Can you see him?" Taehyung asks, breath tickling Jimin's ear.
"Not when you're crushing me," mutters Jimin.
There's not much to see in the hallway - the mainstay of the plan should only target Hoseok, hence why it's not a Type IV: Possible Collaterals. Jimin still can't believe he skipped out on his visual art class to help pour hundreds and hundreds of little confetti hearts into Hoseok's locker.
Really, he can't believe Taehyung had gone out of his way to find the confetti hearts, and then write a letter on a bigger heart, and pop that through Hoseok's locker grills too.
There's the faint sound of voices down the hall and Jimin can feel the nervousness coming from Taehyung. He's practically vibrating and when someone starts to round the corner, Taehyung adjusts his position to see better, stepping on Jimin's feet in the process.
Jimin lets out a quick but loud yelp and then Taehyung's got a whole hand over his mouth this time. The person in the hallway looks up, eyes darting around to search for the sound of the noise and that's when they realise it's not Hoseok.
After apologising and stepping off Jimin's toes, Taehyung does the logical thing and adjusts so that they're stood side by side. It's a tight squeeze but Jimin can still see the lone person in the hallway. He's recognisable as Min Yoongi, senior student and a friend of Hoseok's. Reddish brown hair and no blazer, with his backpack hanging off of one shoulder, he walks past their vantage point; but he's not Hoseok so Taehyung refocuses, staring at the corner again.
Jimin's seen Yoongi around a few times, knows his locker is in this hallway too, and even talked to him in passing (and okay, by talking, Jimin means he once tried to pitch the school's dance crew to Yoongi. His eye rolling had been so fantastically exaggerated that his face stuck in Jimin's head and ever since then, he's kept an eye out for Yoongi and his ridiculous expressions).
He's pulling a face right now, actually, and Jimin watches as he slings his backpack onto both of his shoulders and furrows his brow, coming to a stop in front of a locker. A very familiar locker. One that Jimin has spent an entire hour filling with a veritable craft explosion.
Jimin doesn't swear but it's a close call. For a moment, he considers opening the door, falling out into the hallway in the hopes of alerting Yoongi to the impending shower of paper, but Taehyung's in front of the door handle. Taehyung hasn't even noticed and Jimin elbows him sharply in the ribs, asks frantically, "are you sure that's Hoseok's locker?"
They both look to the locker in question and Taehyung's eyes widen, watching as Min Yoongi is enveloped in a flurry of pink and red hearts as well as a waft of Taehyung's cologne. It's strangely both quiet and chaotic to see.
"Namjoon said he'd rig the fan up in Hoseok's locker," Taehyung says weakly. "It has to be his locker, hyung wouldn't guide us the wrong way."
The paper is starting to settle and Yoongi must have the patience of a saint because he hasn't even reacted yet.
"Should we... should we go and talk to him?" asks Jimin nervously. "I mean, we can't just leave him there."
"We can't," Taehyung agrees. "We also have class in ten minutes, so we literally can't stay in here until then."
Jimin look Taehyung in the eye and they do their favourite communicating - the kind without words. He can see the fear in Taehyung's eyes - of the repercussions, yeah, but also fear of loss, that he's gone and ruined his chance to do something soppily romantic for the one guy who hasn't been terrified by all his previous advances. He looks nervous too and Jimin knows what he needs, wrapping Taehyung in an embrace and giving a supportive squeeze around his waist as he does so.
Then there's a tap on the window and the door swings open.
"Uh," Jimin says, stepping back as the hallway light floods the store room.
"I hate to interrupt a moment," Yoongi says, "but do you know what this is about?"
And with that he waves at the confetti covering his body, nestled in the collar of his shirt and the crinkles in his sleeves and the entirety of his hair. He looks rather... not unimpressed, no, he definitely has some grudging amazement in his eyes, but. Put off, that's how he'd describe it.
"Uh," repeats Jimin. It seems like surprise has finally managed to put a word filter on Jimin and Taehyung both. "Hoseok..."
"Yeah, Hoseok's locker," completes Yoongi. He steps back, making room for Jimin to walk out. Taehyung follows and when he's in the light, when Yoongi sees them both properly, he raises an eyebrow. "Ah, now I understand."
Taehyung looks up, finally making eye contact and Yoongi focuses his gaze.
"You should know, for future reference, Hoseok rarely touches his locker. Gets me or Namjoon or Donghyuk to fetch his crap for him." His words are short but not unkind. "Go straight to him, honestly. But maybe with less confetti."
"Ah, okay, yes, sure," Taehyung blabbers, filter suddenly off again. "I'll keep that in mind, definitely, thank you for the advice, sorry about this, we can-"
He reaches out to brush some of the confetti from Yoongi's body and Yoongi shifts backwards, puts his hands up to block Taehyung. "It's fine," he says. "At least it's not glitter."
And that's apparently all Min Yoongi has to say on the matter because then he's picking up his bag, and some books (presumably from Hoseok's locker) and heading off back down the hallway.
Taehyung and Jimin watch him leave, then Taehyung zips into action, grabbing one broom, and passing a second to Jimin, so they can start sweeping up the confetti mess.
"I can't believe it didn't work," Taehyung says, wandering towards the locker. There's a small trail of hearts, presumably the ones falling off of Yoongi's clothes. It actually goes all the way from the locker, over to the store room and down past where Yoongi had disappeared. Jimin follows Taehyung and they start to form a pile of the colourful paper bits.
"I'll definitely have to pay attention to what Yoongi said," continues Taehyung. "More direct. Less confetti. More glitter?"
"No!" Jimin says, balking at the suggestion. "Less glitter. Definitely no glitter. I am drawing the line at glitter."
"You were fine with it last time you helped me," Taehyung says, looking at his best friend fondly. "And I'm grateful for that. It came out eventually, right?"
And if Jimin ever wonders how he gets sucked into these plans, well, that look is his answer. He shrugs, noncommittally (there's still some in his sports shoes), and focuses on pushing the hearts towards the dust pan. "I still vote no glitter. I have a bad feeling about glitter."
Taehyung tsks, looking at Jimin with a glint in his eye. "Not adventurous enough, Jimin," he says, apparently re-energised for his next Plan. "You have a bad feeling about everything."
hi! i currently have four prompts in my inbox but have noticed tumblr is failing to send some messages through. if you have prompted something other than 12 namjin, 13 yoonmin, 9 yoonmin and 9 jikook, I haven't gotten it :( please feel free to send it through again!
Sure, he's not an absolute thrill seeker like some of the others are, and sure, he'd much rather spend the day in bed than go out for walks, but if asked nicely he'd usually at least consider the offer.
Of course, that's when the offers aren't completely stupid.
"I'm not getting into that thing," Yoongi says, standing under the cover of the trees by the bank. It's cooler here, less of the strong summer sun to burn his skin to a nice pink crisp, and less of a chance of Jimin dragging him out to the boat.
Hoseok had texted him earlier, surprised that Jimin had managed to get Yoongi to leave the city at all and Yoongi had messaged back a series of very select emoticons.
He's mimicking one of them now and Jimin pouts in response, resting his weight on the boat and Yoongi's not sure how seeing the thing rock dangerously is meant to convince him.
"It's perfectly safe," Jimin says with a slap to the side of the boat. "Taehyung promised that he checked with its previous owners first."
"God," Yoongi mutters. "It's second hand too. Are the original owners even alive?"
"Hyung," Jimin pleads. "Come on. We came all this way, and I promise I won't let you fall in! I can even dig out the life jackets if you want, I'm sure Tae stashed them somewhere."
Yoongi stands up straighter, mostly to stretch his muscles a bit, but Jimin must take it as a signal or something because he smiles wider, ties the boat to a post rather haphazardly and runs over to give Yoongi a hug.
"Wha-" sputters Yoongi, suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of Jimin in his arms.
"I knew you'd wear down eventually, hyung!"
"I haven't worn down!" Yoongi protests.
Jimin leans back to stare him in the eye, a knowing look passing between them. It's all a bit much, his face this close, the smell of sun and sweat on his skin, the warmth of his body making Yoongi's own skin flush - and okay, maybe this is wearing him down.
"C'mon," Jimin says, tugging on the sleeve of Yoongi's long sleeve. "You're dressed for the sun and the wind is calm, so we can't even get blown out that far. It's a tiny lake, what's the worst that could happen?"
Yoongi is a reasonable guy. It explains why, even when he's pretty cold himself, he's willing to give up his extra layer of clothing (thank god for forethought and wearing layers) in order to dry off poor, shivering Jimin.
"Your lips are blue," Yoongi says with a tsk. "I knew I was right not to get in."
"I-i-it's b-because y-you took a-a-ages t-t-to get d-down to the sh-shore," complains Jimin. "I w-would've b-been f-fine if w-we'd left earlier."
"We should've checked the weather, or looked up at the clouds coming in," says Yoongi, pushing Jimin's hair out of the way so he can check there are no scratches on his face. "We're both at fault."
"The boat is at fault," Jimin says with a pout. His cheeks are looking less pale now and Yoongi touches one with the side of his hand just to be sure. "I swear, it's like it wanted to throw me out before I even got in!"
Yoongi rolls his eyes but says nothing, just glad that they're undercover, away from the light drizzle and chilly winds that forced Jimin out of the boat and directed both of them back inland. They're probably lucky nothing more serious happened - just a splash and Yoongi jumping back from the water and back to drier land after Jimin had spent an hour coaxing him closer to the water's edge. Then the clouds had rolled in and the boat had floated out and Jimin was nice enough to not pull Yoongi into the now cooler water with him. Especially since they'd only thought to bring a small towel.
"Blame the boat," Yoongi agrees. "Also being outdoors, and the weather. We should just stay inside next time."
And he's mostly joking because, well. He's reasonable, knows relationships are about give and take, but from the look on Jimin's face, Yoongi feels like he'll be making their date plans for the next little while.
1: “What’s the worst that could happen?”
2: “That wasn’t so bad.”
3: “It’s not loaded.”
4: “Don’t worry.”
5: “It’s nothing.”
6: “Just a scratch!”
7: “I’m fine.”
8: “It’s perfectly safe.”
9: “Everything’s going to be okay.”
10: “It’s over.”
11: “Let’s split up.”
12: “At least it’s not…”
13: “I have a bad feeling about this.”
14. “Could be worse.”
Realistically, Jimin should be out saving more people, different people. He's not the most efficient at his job if all he focuses on is the one person, especially if that person happens to be one of the most unlucky in the city. It's a good thing that his crew still thinks of him as a superhero in training, so it's not so embarrassing when he gets called out for saving Yoongi's life for the thirteenth time that month.
They've lived together for a week before Jimin puts her foot down, decides to get some Rules in place for this household.
"No eating in the laundry, no stray animals in the living room, tell Jimin when you decide to switch the sugar and salt containers," Taehyung reads from the note on the fridge. "No stepping into Jimin's shower without forewarning, especially when she's running late for class. No watching porn on full volume after 11PM."
Jimin's pleased because Taehyung takes to it surprisingly well. Of course, that's before she decides that most things Jimin hasn't written down must be okay to do, such as climbing in to share Jimin's baths instead.
Jimin's learned to live with the aches - a near constant burn in his arms and torso and thighs, a pain that's almost rewarding, one that sinks into him as he walks off stage. He's learned through hours of experience; his training has worn his skin into calluses, has worn him to the ground. It's the physical aches that are familiar and maybe that's why this, walking away from it all, hurts so much more.
On a scale of one to awesome, Jinyoung probably thinks he's the shit. Jaebum's kind of sick of his smarmy smile, the way his lips curl up, the way they part to spit out petty words on stage, fuel a rivalry that doesn't matter to anyone outside the shitty club venues or smokey backstage rooms. Jaebum's sick of Jinyoung's mouth, except like this, harsh and wet against his own, the only real way to make them both shut up.
Hanbin's still texting every few hours, checking that Bobby hasn't gone and gotten lost, or decided to run away with someone he's barely known half a year. It's a road trip and yeah, maybe they should've learned to read maps beforehand but it doesn't matter so much when they can read other things. Bobby can read the road signs, figure out where they're meant to go; Jimin reads the diner menus and dingy motel price lists. They both can read each other - the looks exchanged at the sight of a beach, or when they stop for the sunset, or when they step out to swap driving - they can read the map of each other, stretching, winding, leading to somewhere like home.
Honestly, it's not Yoongi's fault Jimin has to contribute the most to their dorm's swear jar. He could blame Seokjin for instating it in the first place, or Hoseok for always beating him in video games, or Jungkook for leaving his dirty laundry all over Jimin's bed. But no, he has to blame Yoongi, because apparently most of Jimin's swearing happens when they're in bed together, which is completely and totally, 100% because of Yoongi (even on the days Jimin asks to be teased).
If you go by movie standards, they've kind of done things in the wrong order - first, finding out where each other lived, second, spending time together every day, with no one but each other for company, and third, finally adding each other on facebook.
Of course, now Namjoon has to work out a way to ask Jimin to hang out, in places that aren't his car or walking to class. He's hoping Jimin says yes, because otherwise carpooling is about to get super awkward.
I'm trying to get back into writing, so I'm opening this blog back up. However, I've deleted most of the old prompts that were sent to me last year so I don't feel too weighed down by them, sorry about that.
That being said, please feel free to send me new prompts! Also, my twitter username has changed, so I'm now @knotfic and you can also find my various sites on flavors.me :)
