"You look nothing like your statue" - Persephone to Hades ( @obedienceisnotinmynature )
Hades looked at her vaguely entertained. Persephone kept surprising him- she seemed to actually look for him, which was refreshing. They hadn't known each other for long and still he was finding every excuse to come to surface lately, visiting the other Gods every so often just to have a chance to see her. But he would never admit it to himself. As he would never admit he'd be hurt when that little flower would find love and stop entertaining him.
"You looked for it? I hope that one at least was scary enough, or I'll be disappointed" he grinned "How did my statue look like, little flower?"
@obedienceisnotinmynature
Persephone reached for his hand and Hades felt his heart race. Surprised by his own reaction, he looked in Persephone's big eyes and got lost in them. Only the leaves on the trees distracted him. So it was not just flowers. A Goddess of nature. And now she was telling him she didn't want him to go. It was all he wanted to hear, really. He did want her to ask him to stay. And now she did...
"Okay. Then we shall have some more. We shall have more." He held her hand tight, finding pleasure in that simple touch "You could teach me the names of the flowers, and maybe one day I could show you the wonders of the Underworld" he proposed, thinking she'd laugh about it at least, but he would've wanted that...

@obedienceisnotinmynature
Hades managed to laugh at her words. A short, clean laugh, but he did laugh at it. "I'm glad I'm good in bed. I would be very mad to have any other kind of reputation about it." It was something to be proud of, at least. And the way Persephone seemed flustered about it made him want to insist. Too bad the conversation would shift way too soon.
He knew the lengths his brother would go to to make a woman his. He knew he would stop at nothing, and that it was more of a challenge to him than anything else. He would stop desiring them once they'd lose their virginity to him... and Persephone would just be one of those women. He couldn't let it happen. "My brother likes innocent women like you." Virgins. But he couldn't say that. "He uses them and hurts them and I don't want that to happen to you." He said without any doubt.
@obedienceisnotinmynature
Hades laughed. That was something that didn't happen very often. He must had been entertained to hear of his reputation. There were scary things told about him. But Aphrodite swore up and down that he was special. Persephone tried to laugh too but didn't manage. She was still feeling awkward about it. She was inexperienced and she was sure Hades was well aware of it. "That's what Aphrodite says." she still remained turned away. Still flustered. "You tio must have a lot of fun" she tried to sound playful but that came out almost bitter. She hoped that Hades wouldn't notice.
The continuation of this conversation didn't exactly make her feel better. She knew of Zeus' reputation. "I have no interest in your brother. And I doubt he has any interest in me." The way Hades called her innocent made her think that he meant naive. Or worse. Undoubtedly Zeus felt the same. "I'm not all that special." she leaned her back against a tree thoughtful. "But thank you for your warning."
You two must have a lot of fun. Maybe he could sense a hint of jealousy there. Of course she would feel so- she had never experienced any of it, after all... "'l'll have to thank her, then. Should I?" he tried to be playful with her but he realized he didn't want to keep talking about it. Persephone was as beautiful as the goddess of beauty herself to his eyes, he realized. There was something about her. He could keep talking with her for hours...
"You are exactly his type, Persephone" Hades insisted "You are unexperienced, but completely naive you are not. Actually you've been pretty sharp every time I've talked to you. Just my humble opinion." He meant every word, and he took a quick glance at her body leaning against that tree, and her beautiful face. Flowers weren't blooming around her, so... she was upset? Because they'd always bloom when she's happy, he thought. He had noticed... He kept noticing her. And now he realized that more and more.
Hades pretty much confirmed Aphrodite's tales even if he denied at first. And Persephone felt some kind of way about it. Jealous. It was hard to admit that even to herself. She had been thinking of Hades in ways that weren't strictly friendly. And she knew that it was never gonna happen. She was a child in his eyes. And Aphrodite was literally the prettiest goddess. Pretty done deal. "Yeah you should." she didn't sound playful anymore. She sounded dry.
He insisted that she was Zeus' type. He was pretty adamant actually. "I will keep my distance." she kept glancing in the distance thoughtful. She didn't notice Hades looking at her body. In her mind he just confirmed that je saw as some fragile little thing. "I think i should go."'she added still gazing ahead.
Something in Persephone's tone clearly shifted. They weren't playing anymore, obviously. His heart sunk at that, and he was surprised of it. He was somehow... yearning for her. He had never felt that before. How couldn't she see it, as she was looking so far away? Who held her heart? Who was she thinking of?
"why? Have I done something?" Hades reached for her chin and lifted it ever so slightly to look in her eyes. He wanted to kiss her so much... "Flowers are not blooming means something's off. See, I learned something." He tried to smile to her. Hopefully she'd smile back.
There was a shift in the mood. And Hades seemingly noticed. Maybe it was the coldness in her voice. Or the fact that she just wouldn't turn to look at him. Because she could not hide that their conversation was lingering in her head. Hades and Aphrodite. Together. That made her envious. And the thought of Zeus being interested in her made her uneasy. She did not find that thought appealing. At all.
Hades reached to hold her jaw and she shivered a bit as he did. She finally looked at him. She was about to make some excuse but what he said surprised her. He was paying attention to her. To the things she said. Her ways. Her flowers. "no you didn't say... Or do anything" she kept looking at him. Almost smiling as he sounded kinda proud for noticing the little things "Nothing's wrong." she tried to make the flowers bloom again to prove it.
Hades felt kind of uneasy, kind of sad seeing Persephone pretend like that. If there was something he wanted it was her sincerity, her genuine ways-- had he lost them now? "You are pretending" he said, dropping whatever smile he was trying to make "Not even the flowers want to be here anymore." He let go of her chin, and wished he could touch more of her skin. Something in him was burning for her...
"I'll free you of my presence, if that's what it takes" He continued "If you wish I'll be right back in the Underworld and not return. Not pester you." Obviously it was the opposite of what he wanted. Lately all he had been doing was avoiding Aphrodite to look for Persephone. "But I shall miss our talks and our time together. You are one of a kind, Persephone- again, you shall make a god very lucky." His hand looked for hers, almost instinctively. He wished to be that very lucky god...

Hades looked at Persephone, not really convinced of the latest gossip. "Not really. She just appears whenever I am up here. It gets grinding after a while, even though I shouldn't not appreciate it, right?" He rubbed the back of his neck. It was a weird situation. Being around Aphrodite would make him look good, yes... But being around Persephone was what made him truly feel good.
"No, she's not good company" he flat out answered "I don't understand all of her rants about beauty and beautiful things. It gets tiring sooner than later." He fixed his clother a bit. Somehow he didn't like where the conversation was heading, and the pretty blush on Persephone's cheeks was almost gone. "Who do you spend time with lately?"
@obedienceisnotinmynature
Persephone had started thinking that the man was protesting too much. And she still couldn't understand why. "She speaks highly of you. And your time together." she commented Stil turned away. It was true. Aphrodite kept gushing about him and all the things they did when he was up there. Some things she was describing were downright scandalous. But that was too be expected from the Goddess of Love. So why was she bothered by that? She kept asking herself that question.
Hades seemed almost uncomfortable by the conversation and he was trying to try the subject it seemed. "Same old people I always do." she replied. "I avoid my mother as much as I can. So I spend time with Athena. Hermes. Aphrodite. Eris is there too some times. Ares too." she wondered if he was trying to inquire if she was seeing someone.
All that talk about Aphrodite bothered him more and more. He didn't want Persephone to feel like he had a better time with Aphrodite. Sure, she knew how to make love, but that was all she had going. Hades actually enjoyed talking to Persephone, being in her presence... She was the reason he was coming up now. Not Aphrodite. She could be the most beautiful, but she wasn't by far the most interesting of the goddesses. He tried to stop himself from comparing the two, because now he was almost picturing how Persephone would look naked, and he didn't want that image in his head. It would only hurt him to do so.
"Good old Athena. Well at least you know who not to hang out with." He made a face, implying Zeus of course. "Wait. Hasn't she advised you against seeing me? That's what she usually does, Athena I mean. I won't even get started on the other two." His exes, if he could call them so? At least he knew he couldn't hang out with her company. Not like he wanted to.
Persephone didn't like talking about matters of love. Not with Aphrodite. Not with Athena. Not really. Athena just kept telling her to stay away from all men. And Aphrodite wad too open. She made everything sound so dreamy and magical that hardly felt real. Sometimes Persephone would try to envision it. Falling in love. And these times she would inevitably start thinking of Hades. That's why she chose not to focus on Aphrodite's words. Maybe it just made her jealous. But that wad just stupid. And naive.
"She is wary of you. But she is wary of every man. So I don't think it's personal." she slightly turned towards him. "Hermes though has some choice of words for you. Eris can be a tad confrontational from time to time. She also has some choice of words for you." she grinned slightly. She knew he meant Zeus. "he is too busy ruling and being king of everything. I hardly ever see him."
Hades grinned at her description of Athena."Obviously" he responded as he could find a million reasons for her to stay away from him, yet he still hoped she wouldn't. He almost laughed as she kept going. He had enemies, obviously, and Gods that just didn't like him... Actually that was most of them.
"Well you shouldn't. See him I mean. He wants to get into things that don't belong to him." That sounded bad. Well it was true. "You'd only get hurt." Of course she meant Zeus. The ruler. And Hades was taking it personally, as always. "Just... He's not good company"

"You look nothing like your statue" - Persephone to Hades ( @obedienceisnotinmynature )
Hades looked at her vaguely entertained. Persephone kept surprising him- she seemed to actually look for him, which was refreshing. @obedienceisnotinmynature
Persephone smiled. She had been running into Hades a lot lately. Something that was, by all accounts, unusual for him. She didn't mind it though. If anything, she enjoyed their conversations. He was always respectful towards her. Every so often she found herself looking forward to meeting him. Maybe that was why she had looked up his statue.
"I wouldn't call it scary necessarily." she responded. She was certain that he knew that he knew what his statue looked like. "But you are younger in person. Even though that doesn't mean much since the gods can take any appearance they want.... And taller." she added.
"Maybe I want to look more intimidating." Hades stretched his long arms slightly- he didn't need to take another appearance there. They could be forever young, and so he was. They almost looked like they were the same age. "Here no one takes me seriously anymore. I should bring my dog with me, then things would be much different." He grinned as he spoke those words. Persephone never seemed scared of him, something he did mind. He did wish to have some kind of... aura, but nothing. He was bound to be the last of the gods. But not in that moment as he talked to her. It was like they were friends talking.
"You think I'd actually be praised if they made a hotter statue of me? At least usually I'm portrayed with my clothes on" He shrugged "Not that I necessarily need those" He almost laughed.
"I'm not saying you don't look imposing. But you are not all that bad." she kept looking at him. Almost observing him. She had seen the dog alone with the statue. It was a scary one. "Yeah that would definitely change a thing or two. If it's any consolation people are afraid of you. Gods too. But I find it sad. You must be lonely" she remarked honestly.
"I think all three of you are quite good looking." she replied vaguely. "I mean we are gods. Aren't we supposed to be beautiful?" she teased him a bit. Even if his comment about clothes made her slightly blush. She hoped he wouldn't notice
Persephone was somehow right- her honesty hit home. He was the loneliest of the gods, he would say. And he would say he didn't mind, that actually he liked it- Hades didn't like people, but he also didn't enjoy being lonely, knowing that no one really cared whatever was going on with him... Maybe, hadn't it been for Zeus, he'd be spending more time with the other Gods up there...
He was about to respond somewhat nicely as she did mention the three brothers. He frowned. "Right. All three of us, some more than others." Of course he was nowhere near them. Hades knew he looked kinda dead- hardly desirable, his skin pale and cold- "There are some ugly Gods too. They just don't care." He looked at her. Maybe he had been harsh. "Not you. You're one of the beautiful ones."
Persephone didn't mean to make Hades feel bad by saying he was lonely. After all, he kept insisting that he liked it like that. But she was not entirely convinced that it was true. Maybe it was easier but not necessarily more pleasant. Maybe that was why he kept finding excuses to be up there lately. A nice change of scenery.
There was an awkward pause once she mentioned all 3 brothers being good looking. It was a fact. But it was also a dangerous thought. Something told her that even thinking about it regarding Zeus was an invitation for something that she was certain she wouldn't welcome.
Her cheeks grew a bit more red as he called her beautiful so she tried to change the subject. "Speaking of beautiful gods, I heard you are here to visit Aphrodite."
Persephone seemed to be measuring her words before, but then she just looked flustered. That red truly suit her cheeks. She had always been cute, but now she looked like a doll. Fragile and precious, he thought. Lucky would be the God who'd gain her affections.
Her mentioning Aphrodite shook him out of his gazing -- "oh. Wow." Aphrodite had acted strange lately. He had spotted her around him more than once, trying to make conversation, trying to get him closer somehow. He didn't mind it horribly, since at least that could prove Zeus he was worth the attention. But he wasn't sure what her endgame was. "I'm not. I don't know where you've heard that" he shrugged in response.
Persephone regained her composure soom enough. Some near by flowers had bloomed spontaneously and even she herself didn't know what to assume about her internal reactions. She liked spending time with Hades. She enjoyed their conversations. She enjoyed it when he called her beautiful. But she knew that he only saw her like a child. Entdrtsomi company maybe but that wad it. And logic dictated that it was better to stay that way.
He seemed indifferent to the mention of Aphrodite, if not a little confused. But he couldn't be oblivious to the fact that Aphrodite liked him. She made it very clear. "I heard that from Aphrodite. That's what she's been telling everyone."
Hades did notice how flowers would bloom around Persephone. How nature would respond to her, make her glow and give her an ethereal aura he felt so intrigued by. Unlike Aphrodite, who was giving around her beautiful body so easily, Persephone still seemed so sweet and innocent -- but with an edge.
"She tells everyone I give her visits? Interesting." He tilted his head, thoughtful- spreading such gossip was one of the favorite activities of the gods- but that gossip could actually benefit his image. If Aphrodite herself didn't find him repulsing, that meant a lot for his status. "Still it's not true."
He didn't need to specify it... Yet he did.
@obedienceisnotinmynature
