Bow Wow Cafe @ 28.11.2015
Mikey's New York Pizza @ Bangsar
Came here for lunch with my colleagues, for her birthday lunch actually. We ordered a slice of NY pizza, one slice of Pizza Bianca, a slice of Wild mushroom pizza, a boneless Buffalo chicken and a pesto sauce Penne to share.
Since there were 3 of us, I asked them to cut the pizza into 3 smaller slices and they did. I liked the Wild mushroom pizza (I'm just a mushroom person). I didn't like the Pizza Bianca much, the ricotta cheese and goat cheese sourly taste were too much for me.
Our pasta came in a white plastic bowl, those they use to serve "pan mee" in coffee shop~ The presentation really shocked us. It also came with a garlic bun. Tasted was better than the presentation. Buffalo chicken finger was a disappointment with very acidic taste and dry inside.
We asked for small plates so we could share our food but they didn't have any and gave us the "pan mee" bowls instead. Drinks were expensive at RM8-9 for lemonade / ice tea. No soup nor dessert on the menu. If you had to pay for your food at the counter before you consume them, don't expect much service.
Don’t think I’ll come back here. The next time I want pizza, I’d go to Fahrenheit 600 @ Solaris Dutamas or Dave’s in One Utama. We should had gone else where with cakes too~ What a wrong move.
The Steak House, KL
The Smoking Hog @ SS2
The restaurant is located on 3rd floor of a shop lot It is pretty small, with 8 tables on the main floor and I believe there's a small mezzanine floor. First impression, it was very dim inside. It was warm too because of the open kitchen. When I asked a waiter to turn on another air conditioner, he was giving me reason they could only have 4 units running at one time. Puzzled. Then he gave me a "ok, never mind, whatever" look and hand, then asked my colleague to flip a switch on the wall.
The menu are meant for carnivores. Most dishes spin around pork or bacon. We ordered a Lamb cutlet + brown rice Barley soup, a Smoked Duck Fettucine Carbonara and a Pig Tongue + Bacon Matriciana. Food serving was slow, the last dish, matriciana came 40min after order. I was hoping for an elevated version of pig tongue pasta but I didn't get that. It was mostly throat meat mixed with cartilage and bits of bone fragments placed on top the Spaghettini. I don't think the pig tongue was brine, it was very gamy, I couldn't finish the dish.
My colleague's Brown rice barley soup was on the salty side. Lamb could be MORE tender. It said lamb shank in the menu but it was actually one cutlet. Other colleague said his fettucine carbonara top with poached egg was overly creamy and couldn't justify the RM39 price tag. Oh, also not going nuts over the Nutella Latte.
We also had a Bacon & Egg ice cream to share. The ice-cream was creamy with bits of bacon in each spoon; a nice sweet and savoury flavour. Candied smoke bacon on top tasted like "yok gong".
Level of service was really general. Presentation of food was average cafe / bistro array. There's really no big deal here. It is not categorized as a casual dining place, not price wise, nor the ambiance. Yet it is not a fine dining restaurant , neither are they serving any avant garde food here (after all the fuss about the hidden location, the dramatic big chairs, the big block of eternal flame candle). What you pay are not justify with what put in front of you. It is going to be a one time visit and leaves you feeling "meh~".

Fake Bobbi Brown on Hulala
I wanted to write about this sometimes back but just didn't get around to do so. I bought this Bobbi Brown eye liner set from Hulala, I have bought something similar from Bobbi Brown shop before, 2 eye liner with a brush set was RM98 if I'm not mistaken. So naturally when I saw this deal on Hualala, I thought they could be some off season set on clearance. I bought without hesitation. Seriously, who would thought of FAKE Bobbi Brown floating online, I mean Huala is considered a popular online shopping site.
When I received the product, not to mentioned it took a long time for it to be delivered (coming from China, I guess). Once I opened it, I knew something was amiss. I have been using BB eye liner for many years, I could tell straight away those are fake. I took 2 side by side comparison photos. As you can see, the left one is the fake. The right one is original from BB counter. Font on the original cap is thin and define. Whilst the printing on the fake one looks bad. Cap on the authentic pot is shiny, it twists open smoothly when the fake eye liner has a matte cap turns flimsy. The white film on the inner side of the cap of the genuine product is usually thick and fit firmly inside the cap. When I twist open a fake pot, the white film came flying out.
Now we turn the pots upside down, even though every words is copied too look as original as it could be. The printing is awful, the alignment is off. Paper quality used is sub-par.
