He let himself be lightly tugged by the young girl, and took his seat at the table. “Okay, okay! Not like I can say no to you, anyway.”

With Mira taking her seat across from him, he was appeciative that he had a nice view. “So, Mira. How has your hunting been going lately? And good leads?”

Before Mirabell could shake her head to let him know that it wasn’t a good time to talk about that Arabell climbed on her seat, grabbed his face, and made her look at him. “No, you gotta talk to me first because I had a big day!”

Nova couldn’t help but laugh at Ari’s determination. “Alright, you win. How was your day, Ari?”

He was glad the house was mostly empty tonight. Not because he had any devious plans for the night, or even because he didn’t like Blaine. He just enjoyed spending time with Mirabell without worrying about her parents barging in or anything. And as cute as Mirabell was, Ari’s tea party did sound like it could be fun. He was a bit parched. “That sounds pretty great, Ari! Is there a special occasion for the party, or are you just excited that I’m here?”

“Nope! Mya jjust says we can have tea.” The child bounced on the balls of her feet, her light curls bouncing along with her. “And I get real tea now!”

“It’s chamomile,”Mirabell stated softly. It would calm the girl down, which was what she needed.

Nova never was a big tea drinker. If he ever needed caffeine, he’d just down a cup of coffee with plenty of sugar. But he was in Mirabell’s house, under her rules. The rule was tea, and Nova never broke the rules. Unless it was really funny in the game he was playing.

“Chamomile, eh? Sounds soothing.” He took off his jacket, and hung it on the coat rack near the door. “Where do you want me to sit?”

Nova didn’t offer any resistance to Ari’s small tugging. “Well, the lady sure does seem insistent.” He stepped through the threshold, looking around Mira’s quiet home. It was certainly warmer, thankfully. Nova always felt comfortable in her house. “I hope you didn’t have all the fun without me.”

‘Our parents are out, and so is Blaine. It’s just the three of us and Arabell has something special planned for us tonight.”

“Tea party! Tea! Mya said that we can have tea today! Right Mya?”

Mirabell nodded, enjoying the mispronunciation of her name while it would last. “I already have the kettle on the stove.”

Mirabell leaned against the door frame, nice and warm in her light jacket and slippers. Arabell looked at her and followed suit. Mirabell grinned and looked at her little sister. “What do you think, Ari? Should we let him in or make him stand outside?”

“In! In” She reached forward and grabbed his hand, attempting to pull Nova past Mirabell.

Mirabell sat on the couch, Ari pressed tightly to her side, one eye on the book she was reading and the other on the clock. Nova would be there any moment and she was eager to have company. Blaine was on one of his school trips and her parents were at work so that left her to babysit the youngest who was just as eager to see Nova as Mirabell was.

It was still cold outside as Nova walked up to the door, but it had been getting warmer lately. Of course, he didn’t mind the cold as long as he had his jacket, but warm weather would mean he’d have to remove it. He knocked once on the door, then twice. He hoped he wouldn’t be waiting outside long, the wind did seem to be picking up…

Ari heard the knock after Mirabell, but she was the first to react. the child hopped off the seat and ran towards the door. Discrading the book, Mirabell hurried to grab her before she could open it. “Never open the door for strangers,” she whispered, even though they both knew who it was. After the child nodded, the teen opened the door.

As the door opened, Nova waved his hand at the two girls. “How’s it going, Mira? You’re a sight for cold eyes.” He glanced down, and bent down to greet her sister. “And hello to you too, Ari. Long time no see, eh?” He stood up, and shivered slightly. “Actually, speaking of the cold, you wouldn’t mind if I came inside, would you?” Polite to a fault, that was Nova.
