In your teens, someone will tell you to read a book called Renegades. It is very important to listen to them.
Leroy: I taught you everything you know.
Nova: You taught me how to scream into a pillow and defy the government.
Leroy: Exactly.
Ruby: *Sees stranger doing something stupid*
Ruby: What an idiot.
Ruby: *Realises it’s Oscar*
Ruby: Wait, that’s my idiot
Leroy: I’m a confident driver.
Nova: You almost ran over Ingrid.
Leroy: I dit it with confidence, though.
Nova: Sometimes I don’t think I fit in anywhere.
Adrian *cuddling her*: You fit in my arms.
Nova: *smiles*
expectations
I desperately hope that the renegades are absolutely abolished in the spin off series. I need Nova to realize that, while the anarchists were worse, the renegades aren’t great either and her switching sides so fully and suddenly was just a knee-jerk reaction to leaving the anarchists and her and Adrian and the others rebel again at the council and put a real democracy with true equality in place. i also want nova pov again, but i know the chances of that are very low since i think we can assume it will be Evie x Max
Since Marissa Meyer announced a sequel series to the Renegades trilogy, here are the things I hope to see in these books :
Characters :
• More interactions btw Nova and Leroy : I want more scenes with them, Leroy being like a father figure to her, trying to comfort her about her traumas, about what will happen in the future, encouraging her to survive.
• Evie/Nova reveal : one of the most important point. I want this reveal to be chaotic, emotional, with a slow resolution. The evolution and actions of Nova's character in the trilogy were essentially based on her desire to get revenge for the death of her family, mainly her sister. That's why I want this reveal to be something that will take Nova (and Evie) a long time to accept and believe. If it happens, I want to see Nova completely denies it, to see her refusing to believe it, but the more she tries to believe it, the more it hurts her. I feel that not choosing to focus the new book on Nova's emotions would be completely forgetting her character development which was incredible in the trilogy.
• More Nodrian : I need Nova to realize that Adrian is the only way for her to feel happy, loved and safe. I need to see them talk about the events of Supernova, reconforting each other, just small moments with them, fighting their traumas together and be happy.
• Nova’s thought about her mother : we know that Nova had an amazing bond with her father, but we know nothing about her mother, that’s why I would love to learn more about her through Nova’s mind.
• New characters : I want to see new powers, new teams, new morally grey characters.
• More Callum and Winston : wait-
• Some flashback scenes from what happened between the last chapter and the epilogue of Supernova : Did Nova and Leroy get a judgment ? What was the last interactions between Nova and Adrian/Nova and Leroy before the epilogue ? But I would love to see if the council decided to judge them fairly, and for the council to realize that they were not the real villains here, they were just trying to survive and be free for what they believed and fought for all their lives.
Themes :
• Nova’s mental health : I really hope Marissa will explore the issue of mental health with Nova a little more (and don’t tell me she’s okay after everything she went through, there is no WAY). For me, this is the biggest point that was missing at the end of Supernova. But I think the fact that this point is missing from the last book is a good way to address this subject (mental health and ptsd) in a more important way with the new book. Everyone has lied to Nova, everyone has always betrayed her, she has always been used for the benefit of others and no one ever seemed to care about the consequences it would have on her (except for Leroy) and I want to see Nova realize that. Marissa has explored such good and important themes in the trilogy that I want to see her talks about important other themes in this sequel.
• Grief and remorse : Nova visiting her family's grave. We don't know where her parents and her "sister" were buried (or if there is a memorial for people who died during the Age of Anarchy). This was never mentioned in the trilogy so I hope we could see that in this book with Nova's emotions highlighted (same for Adrian and his mother). This could also allow us to discover new places in Gatlon.
• Adrian’s view on his mother’s death : him recovering from his mother’s death and what he learned. We need to see him blaming himself, we need to see how his mental health is!
• Protests and revolts : this is the whole point of Supernova’s epilogue, telling us that people celebrate when they have someone to protect them, but reality always hits them and they realize that the system has many flaws which lead them to stand up for their own group. This is what I want to see : this will always be a fight between the most powerful people where the weaker will always be less important because that’s how the world works, superheroes or not. This trilogy talks about so many good political aspects of our world but if there were superheroes. That’s why it would be a great comparison with our world. I don’t want to necessarily see a new villain, it would be too obvious since Ace was the representation of it all, he was the representation of how anyone can become a villain just by chasing power.
Future and past of Gatlon :
• The whole Renegades system/council being reformed : how an entire organization changes after years of conflict between different groups? Are Renegades still considered those dealing with justice? Are they still organizing recruitment? How do they change their system now that everyone has powers? What about the Rejects?
• New informations about what happened before and during the Age of anarchy : although I think we should have a prequel dedicated to the Age of Anarchy, I would love to have more flashbacks about this period, not necessarily things about the council and Ace but I really want to know new things we still didn’t know about this part of history with other characters. I need to have some flashbacks of the Age of anarchy like there was in Renegades.
I hope the Renegades sequel is set at least a few years after the events in Supernova because those kids deserve some freaking rest 😭
New Hunger Games book, New KOTLC book, New PJO book, and New Renegades series??? My brain can’t process all of this
To celebrate the announcement of the Renegades spinoff/4th book here I have some stuff that I would like to see‼️
OG characters grown and more mature and healed after everything that happened in the trilogy
DANNISSA, I want more content from them bc the epilogue was NOT enough, I think their dynamic has so much potential
How did Nova and Adrian’s relationship developed after the events in the trilogy
Max getting to live as a normal child/teen and his relationship with Adrian now that they don’t need to be separated
Maggie as a teenager, I’m so curious if she followed the same steps as her sister, how are they going to find out they are sisters
Find out more about how Maggie’s childhood was, hopefully get to know a lot more about her in general
Nova and Maggie being the narrators? Nova Maggie and Max?
Maybe Maggie x Max romance????
Osby ofc, I can’t get enough of them
Jade and Sterling as prodigies, they would be SO chaotic
NODRIAN BECAUSE YES, I want to see Nova more open to show affection now that she doesn’t need to limit herself
What happened with the Renegades after the Supernova? Are they still governing? If they are, did they completely change their structure or made small but important changes?
How did the media react to Nova being accepted by the Renegades and her relationship with Adrian?
Nova getting used to having a home, eating normal meals and doing normal stuff
Sketch’s team being chaotic even as adults (I strongly believe and want them to be adults in their early twenties)
Anyways that’s it, I think they are a little basic but I am also trying to not overthink it so I can surprise myself
guys
when we get the fourth renegades book
that means
we get a new book cover
omygosh
That's the first thing I thought of: having new books means having new covers with the same style as the trilogy! 🥹
RENEGADES 4TH BOOK NEWS:
Marissa Meyer has just released a new Happy Writer Podcast in which she officially confirms it: there WILL be a 4th Renegades book! This 4th book could be a sequel series which could include not one but several books taking place in the world of Renegades after the events of Supernova! She hasn't written anything yet other than just ideas. We still have to wait a few more years to read this book but GUYS IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING

Rejection! Impostor Syndrome! Writer's Block! Writing can be a tricky business. In this podcast, Marissa Meyer interviews authors on how we
no one is fucking doing found family like leigh bardugo, marissa meyer, and v.e. schwab.
Sometimes I like men, but then I remember that none of them are Adrian Everhart and then I don’t like them anymore
listen i know we renegades fans love talking about how nova was able to sleep in adrian's jungle because she felt safe, but i would like to offer another explanation:
i was reading this research about the effects of narcotics on the human fear response and it just casually mentioned that when we experience love our amygdala is flooded with oxytocin.
the amygdala is the fear center of the brain. oxytocin is the attachment/love hormone. WHEN WE EXPERIENCE LOVE, THE BRAIN'S FEAR CENTER IS FLOODED WITH IT.
all this to say, i don't necessarily think nova was able to sleep only because she felt safe. i think it was because she felt loved.
I need someone as obsessed with the Renegades Trilogy as me to rant about it 24/7. Omg I read it three years ago and I haven’t enjoyed a book series so much since I read that fucking trilogy.
