@novadragon1000
Name: Jiang Chi (姜迟) Meaning: "Late" — as in the child who came late, who waited. Age: Early 30s — 2 years younger than Jiang Yanli, 8 months older than Wei Wuxian. Same generation as Jiang Cheng. Sect: Yunmeng Jiang — True Main Line Son of Jiang Fengmian Titles: Hidden Son of Lotus Pier, Wielder of Shuiying, Master of Bai Ming, The Crane's Eye Status: Revealed. No longer sealed.
LINEAGE LORE: Biological son of Jiang Fengmian, hidden during the Wen war purge. Sealed in the Ancestral Spring with Fengmian arts as a cradle/lullaby. Seal broke when Fengmian's spiritual signature vanished. Yanli knew. No one else did. Wei Ying, Jiang Cheng, and Yanli are his blood siblings.
APPEARANCE:
Hair: Long black, half-tied with silver lotus crown, purple ribbon
Eyes: Deep gray-blue in TRUE FORM. Molten gold in DEMONIC FORM when borrowing ambient resentment / wild qi. Gray-blue = his own sword qi. Gold = borrowed power.
Robes: Dark purple-black Yunmeng Jiang robes with silver lotus embroidery, black inner sleeves, purple tassels, light armor bracer
Demeanor: Calm, somber, observant, restraint — but smiles like a boy when with Bai Ming or his siblings
EQUIPMENT:
Ancestral Sword - "Sandu" Style Lotus Pier ancestral blade. Black-purple scabbard with silver lotus motif. Heavy, traditional, straight. Father's second sword, left in the spring with him. Uses pure sword qi, not resentment.
Qi Bow: Shuiying (Water Shadow) - Physical manifestation, not summoned. Forged from condensed water-spirit qi + his own blade intent + shadow from the spring - Limbs look like black ink / twisted wood dripping shadow. String is a line of vibrating blue qi that hums - Over 2 meters, appears only when drawn, vanishes when released - Cannot be wielded by others — it is his intent
Qi Arrows: Blade-Intent Needles - Not physical arrows. Pure sword qi / blade intent shaped into needles/arrows - Hover around him when formed - Tunable intent: BIND (immobilize), BREAK (shatter weapons/constructs), CUT (sever loyalty/command threads), CONTROL/KNEEL (force action) - Can be lethal or non-lethal at will. Chooses non-lethal - Guided by Bai Ming's flight lines — arrows ride the crane's wind trails
SHIKIGAMI GUARDIAN:
Name: Bai Ming (White Bright)
Species: White Crane Shikigami — not a spirit beast, a Fengmian Bloodline Guardian
Appearance: Large white crane with black wing tips, gray-blue eyes in true form / molten gold eyes in demonic form. Wears a lotus bell necklace with silver lotus bells and dark purple tassels
Abilities:
His eyes. Can see 15+ li away, acts as remote vision
Flight Lines: Carves blue wind trails in air, arrows ride them
Scout, protector, emotional anchor. Feathers turn into ripples
Can grow large enough to carry or shield him
Currently ACTIVE FLIGHT — wings spread, mid-flight above ancestral spring, dynamic
ENVIRONMENT: Lotus Pier Ancestral Spring. Blue lotuses, stone tablets, mist, wooden pavilions in distance. He stands ankle-deep in water.
TWO FORMS (One Sheet):
TRUE FORM: Gray-blue eyes, calm, water ripples, blue feathers, serene. Uses own qi. Non-lethal. Crane gray-blue.
DEMONIC FORM: Gold eyes, hair wild, black-gold resentment aura, night Lotus Pier, crane gold eyes, gold-tipped shadow qi arrows, bow crackling with borrowed resentment. Only when forced / when range or numbers demand it.
CURRENT LIMITS (Post-Purge): Until fully recovered, limited to 1-3 arrows on his own qi. Long-range or multi-target requires borrowing = turns gold, risks core cracks, nosebleeds, collapse. Crane range limited by his stamina.
PHILOSOPHY: "If you cut the thread of command, the army falls without ash. We don't become them."
Name: Bai Ming (White Bright) Type: Divine Beast / Shikigami Hybrid - Fengmian Bloodline Guardian Bound to: Jiang Chi - Intent-Bound Empathy, not command Look: White crane with black wing tips, blue-tipped feathers, silver lotus bell necklace with purple tassels. Gray-blue eyes in true form / Molten gold in demonic borrowed-qi form
Core Nature: Acts on his own will and your empathy. You see through his eyes only if he lets you. He can disobey, misread, apologize, hold grudges, choose. That's why your father gave half his core cognition, not just power.
Abilities locked in:
Intent-Bound Empathy - Feels what you feel, shares it with pack. Bell chimes when intent shifts
Shared Sight 15 li (∼5km) - Aerial scrying, your qi bow Shuiying rides his wind trails. Can close eyes if he thinks your intent is wrong
Flight Lines / Wind Trails - Visible blue currents allies can ride, arrows guide on them
Feather Barrier - Interlocking blue feathers into dome shield, spiritual/projectile proof
Size Shifting - Petite scout to 3m+ battle/guard form, as in hall scene
Bell Resonance - Lotus bell dispels illusions, purifies resentment, calms allies, marks family
When Jiang Chi uses demonic cultivation by binding intent his shikigami turns black.
JIANG CHI - CHARACTER SHEET / REFERENCE Yunmeng Chief Cultivator
BASICS Name: Jiang Chi (江池) Meaning: Pond / Pool Age: 27 - same age as Wei Wuxian Eyes: Silver-gray, flashes gold when borrowing from ancestral pool / using full intent Hair: Black, long, usually tied with faded purple ribbon (Yu Meiyin's) Height: 178cm Build: Lean, scar at left ribs from childhood, hands always cold Clothes: Dark indigo / blue-purple Yunmeng robes, no bells, barefoot in pond Status: Living, fully recovered, no longer stuck
LINEAGE Father: Jiang Fengmian - hid him as "hidden branch" to protect from Jin Mother: Yu Meiyin (虞美茵) - Meishan Yu Clan branch, not main Violet Spider, steel sword cultivator, died age 26 protecting him Siblings: Jiang Cheng is leader of Lotus Pier / Sect Leader (older brother by months), Jiang Yanli (elder sister figure), Wei Wuxian is shixiong same age Protector: Granny Wen
TITLES
Yunmeng Chief Cultivator - INTERNAL old title. Meaning: the one who guards in shadows while Sect Leader guards in light. Not to be confused with World Chief Cultivator.
World Chief Cultivator = Lan Xichen at Gusu (different job, president of cultivation world). Jiang Chi clarifies: Sea and sky are like opposites. Pond and sky do not compete.
Other names: Hidden Branch, Black Lotus Ghost (what Wen remnants called him when he cleared borders at night), Shui Ling Laozu (Jin Ling's joke, he hates it)
HISTORY Age 8: Yu Meiyin killed by Jin bounty hunters. Hidden under floorboards, sword left with him. Fengmian finds him, makes him hidden branch, gives him river-mark jade (two waves crossing) and letter: "If Lotus Pier has a Leader who must be seen, it must have a Chief who is not seen. So Jin cannot kill both at once."
10 years shadow duty: While Jiang Cheng rebuilt Lotus Pier after Sunshot, Jiang Chi kept water barriers up, dredged channels at night, guarded borders, kept maps including dead water routes to Burial Mounds. Paid Granny Wen in fish. No one knew.
Present: Trial with Jin elders. Jin tried to burn ancestral pool with soul-binding cage + 5 sabers to steal pool. Jiang Chi broke all 5 sabers using water-coated ice-hardened sword intent. Qi collapsed. Stuck in ancestral pool for 7 days healing. Condition stabilized. Now back in hall - left seat, Chief Cultivator's seat, empty for 27 years.
CULTIVATION SYSTEM Core: Can choose to borrow from the ancestral pool really or just use my own qi. Fengmian's design.
Method: Similar function to Wei Wuxian, but binds INTENT in place of resentment.
Wei Wuxian: channels resentful energy, rides it.
Jiang Chi: binds human intent (greed, fear, anger) into water, holds it, judges it, filters it through lotus roots to clean it.
Philosophy: "I will prefer the water to stay clean. I judge with water like Gusu is the sky. Gusu judges from above, Yunmeng judges from below."
Abilities:
Water-coated blade: normal steel looks like it's made of water
Ice-hardening: hardens water-qi for an instant to break sabers / cages
Intent binding: absorbs cage's memory, can show others what he saw (how mother died)
Pond Empathy: lotuses bloom for him, black-edged purple lotuses, hundreds out of season when he returns
Filtering: can pour dirty intent into pond, lotuses filter black to clean
Footprints: when using pool qi, leaves glowing gold footprints for few steps
Weakness: Using own qi to do big things (breaking 5 sabers) leaves him empty and stuck in pool until stable. Borrowing from pool is safer but pool will physically hold him and not let him leave until healed.
Quote: "I did my duty from the shadows."
CURRENT STATE Trial is done. Jins remain in Yunmeng territory but fled south pier after confrontation. Quote to them: "The trial is done and while I was in there sleeping you could have returned home, sea and sky are like opposites, I give you a chance then to leave with your life but you remain... what do you want as this time he will not hesitate to kill."
"I will not want to kill them anyway since my cultivation function similar to yours Wei Ying only I bind intent in place of resentment I will prefer the water to stay clean. I judge with water like Gusu is the sky. Till those Jins called it demonic, if they come back I will teach them why they should fear the deep."
When fully recovered he can go back to hall again, when condition stabilizes. For now was stuck in ancestral pool. Now stable and back in hall.
SWORD Yu Meiyin's sword, no name, old Meishan steel. Fuller holds flowing water. When Jiang Chi uses it, water inside clouds with bound intent. When clean, water is clear. Chimes when near his mother's tablet.
RELATIONSHIPS Jiang Cheng: Ge, light to his shadow. Knee-to-knee, fixes his ribbon, holds his sleeve when he sleeps in pond. Wei Wuxian: Shixiong, same age, Laozu brothers - Yiling Laozu + Shui Ling Laozu. Forehead-to-forehead. Lan Wangji: Respects as fellow Chief, plays Cleansing for him. Jin Ling: Nephew, calls him other jiujiu, tried to use mother's ribbon as cat toy to cheer him. Lan Xichen: World Chief Cultivator, different system, approves of Yunmeng system.
VISUAL REFERENCE Barefoot in lotus pond, wet robes, holding water sword, purple lotuses, gold ripples, silver-gray eyes, exhausted but calm. Hall version: dry, left seat, sword across knees, ribbon straight, wet footprints fading at door.
Name: Jiang Chi (江池 - River Pond)
Courtesy Name: Jiang Zhanyuan (江湛渊 - Deep Clear Abyss) — used only by elders
Age: 27 chronologically (preserved in ancestral spring as child, mental age 25-28)
Generation: Same as Wei Wuxian / Jiang Cheng / Jiang Yanli — officially recorded as martial younger brother
Height: 183cm / 6'0"
Birth: 19th of Lotus Month
Sect: Yunmeng Jiang — Hidden Branch (Fengmian's concealed lineage)
Titles: Heir of the Black Lotus, Master of the Water Bow, Vessel of the Spring
Status: Living Ancestral Vessel
II. APPEARANCE — BLUE-PURPLE CANON
Hair: Jet black, waist-length, low ponytail tied with deep purple ribbon in a bow. Few loose strands frame face.
Eyes: Lighter silver-gray normally — calm, clear, composed, almost water-colored. Faint gold glow when channeling pool qi / blade or bow intent. The gold is sunlight through water, not fierce.
Skin: Pale, slightly cool to touch. Water never fully dries on him.
Mark: Small mole under left eye, often missed.
Robe: Final design is blue-purple & black hanfu. Outer robe deep indigo-purple with black trim, inner black-purple. Black lotus embroidery along collar, sleeves, hem, chest, and back. Wave/cloud patterns on cuffs in lighter blue. Belt: black leather with silver lotus buckle, two small silver bells + white crane feather charm.
Distinction: Purple ribbon, silver lotus hair crown pin. When he walks, his sleeves hold dampness even in drought.
III. CULTIVATION CORE
My bow binds intent to summon — my own, others', even dead things and spirits.
NOT demonic. NOT grudge-based. Intent-Bound Summoning.
Every judged name, every sealed letter, every feared blade leaves intent in the world. Jiang Chi's bloodline can bind a water-qi thread to that intent and pull it into being.
The Ancestral Pool: Not a battery. It's the home of generations of cultivators that carry his hidden bloodline — assassins, ferrymen, listeners, mothers who were never given tablets. As long as he is in Lotus Pier, it refills over time, about a month after a major summoning. It is the only place where they can meet him. When empty, the voices fade.
IV. ABILITIES — THREE FORMS
1. Summoning Water Qi Blade (WATER SWORD)
Binds blade intent from his hidden ancestors.
Forms solidified, fast-moving water blade with gold qi edge.
Can unmake suppression talismans/cages by cutting the intent of "you are already guilty."
Used in Yunmeng Jiang Opening Form. Signature line: "This is a trial not supposed to be an act of aggression. Put down your weapons."
Cost: Medium — pool drops 1 foot.
2. Water Bow Made of Water (AZURE BOW)
Pure qi construct. No wood. String is his guardian Baihe's cry made solid.
Sky-shot goes through roofs/beams (qi-based), then bursts into dozens of smaller messenger arrows that cannot be intercepted — official clan conference summons.
Can also summon objects that share judgment intent (e.g., pulls all trial seal copies to one place).
Cost: Low for summons, High for sky-shot.
3. White Crane Guardian Spirit — Baihe
Small white crane with red crown, gold eyes. Can become bowstring, can scout miles, can create purifying barrier.
Glows faint blue-white. Lands only on Jiang Chi or on lotus seed-bound kin.
Represents the cleanest intent in the pool.
4. Lotus Water Trial
Washes intent off objects. Trial seals become blank paper, revealing the handwriting underneath.
If crime is real, water cannot wash it.
V. LIMITS
Needs existing intent/name — can't summon what is truly forgotten.
Big summons drain pool, weakens him physically (legs shake, vision blurs).
Must stay in Lotus Pier to recharge. Leaving too long starves pool.
Carries every intent he binds — emotional overload, insomnia.
VI. PERSONALITY Calm, loyal, introspective. Quiet but resolute. Protective of kin to a fault. Doesn't understand he is loved, not just useful. Thinks of himself as a vessel first, person second. Fiercely literal. Softens only around Jin Ling and the Lan juniors. Unconsciously mirrors Jiang Cheng's temper when pushed.
VII. RELATIONSHIPS
Jiang Cheng: Jiujiu / Shishu who claimed him instantly — "A Jiang, only." Strict, protective. The one whose opening form he copied.
Wei Wuxian: Shixiong / Confidant. Only one who immediately understood his art isn't resentment.
Jin Ling: Martial nephew / younger brother dynamic. Same divided-loyalty pain. First to put Suihua down for him.
Lan Wangji: Bound as kin via black lotus seed (gold thread at ankle, not restraint). First to lay Bichen down outside his circle.
Lan Sizhui & Lan Jingyi: The same lotus seed offer: "Same will go to you." They accept, bound as witnesses, not prisoners. Sizhui calm, Jingyi loud but loyal.
The Pool: His family. He talks to them when no one is around.
VIII. SIGNATURE SCENE — CAGE SHATTERING
Jin sect brings spiritual suppression cage meant for demonic cultivators to Lotus Pier. Jiang Chi summons water blade with blade intent, holds it in Yunmeng Jiang opening form, and slices cage in one arc. Cage rusts into water. He says, eyes faint gold: "This is a trial not supposed to be an act of aggression. Put down your weapons." Water wall rises 30 feet — silent courtroom. Lotus seeds offered to Sizhui/Jingyi as kin-binding.
IX. CANON CREDO "Under our roof, you do as our heir says." — Jiang Cheng "Try to be righteous." — Jiang Sect teaching
