He wanted to see all burn, them all, except her. Maybe this way she would notice his light too, if he burns all down.
He could have died as a hero, mouth shout, but he wanted to see all burn. He would die like his father, he knows this, but she's radiant and maybe, just maybe, this is enough.
He comes back home, the hidden city sleeping. He hears a laugh, the blonde half-man kid greeting him, he's not like her, he's diminished. He's not like her, until he's. He's just a child like he was. He can't have her, it's foretold. He can love her and watching her child and her husband burn?
"I did something... I must tell, then I can die"
"So I can live with my shame?"
"so you can live to be lifted of it"
Terrified both of them, and the man fighting too, and he see his pain in their eyes, the pain of a child. He's crying watching the city burn, the half-man kid clinching to him, he tries to reassure him, he's just a kid, and he was a kid too. He's crying, watching the city that he sold, the light going out. Her light going out.
"I didn't want this, little one" he says, holding the kid "I didn't want this, I didn't want to make your mum cry... You think that you could forgive me?"
The reassured child nods, he's a little star in the chaos, like her.
"Idril, stay down, Idril" he calls her, a spear comes out of nowhere.
He doesn't think, he's mid-air, the spear pearching his shoulder, just like the spear that pearched his mum, he didn't want to see her cry. He falls down, she's safe, Idril and the others, he see them running away in the darkness of the safe way. That's the last thing he sees, then he fall and dies like his father, but in the light.
