One of the best damn moments between those two…. Normally, moments between them were really tense, or funny as hell. But that one? It like… DEFINED them. Because ultimately, that’s what all the other fuckery was: BROTHERHOOD.

It's important to me because Percy, standoffish and cold and often rude and arrogant, has just lost Scanlan. Is Scanlan his best friend? Not necessarily. But this group is All Percy Has, and Scanlan is his friend, and Scanlan has thrown so many things in his face, brutal and angry and hostile. And Percy is terrified of losing these people. They are his family. They are all he has. And Scanlan has walked away. And he is reaching out, with something soft and earnest and pleading — To tell Grog in his own way that he's sorry they do not agree often, that they are not close, that he is not a good friend — I'm sorry, I love you, please don't leave, too.

Most compelling evidence that Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III is trans is that he loves introducing himself by his full name — he frickin loves every single last one of those names — and even before returning to Whitestone he was never, not once, accused of being a pretender. Even if Whitestone was considered to be the boonies, all the de Rolo children besides Cassandra were supposed to be dead, and having one of them run around with the name of one of those dead children would have been suspicious to someone.

Moreover, the logic of naming these kids here makes no goddamn sense. Why would you name your third-in-line the big family first-name like this? Isn’t that usually something given to the firstborn heir?

The only logical conclusion is that Percy wears that ridiculous name with the pride of someone who made it himself, his deadname lost with the story of being actually, literally dead.
