Sketches of Anhydros circa mid 2021 š¹ šŖ½
Lately I have been getting deeper into the fragrance hobby. I mentioned this several years ago in an older post but Iāve gained more interest since then. Iāve been browsing through my motherās fragrance collection and samples and trying (and keeping) the ones she doesnāt wear regularly or at all as well as some of my own fragrances I bought over the years.
I have some favorite scent notes that I tend to gravitate towards and in no particular order, they are fresh, woody especially oud, sage, tonka bean and cedarwood, green, vanilla, sea, and sometimes gourmands and fruit especially citrusy ones like bergamot, and florals such as geranium, rose and osmanthus just to name a few.
Oh, I was serious. If anyone remembers, several years ago I created an entire original character based on what I assumed an osmanthus perfume would smell like.
I used to take inspiration from seemingly the most mundane things in my artwork and fragrances happened to be one of them.

I wanted to talk about my artwork for a sec. Now that itās been about two years since I last drew anything and probably longer since I actually enjoyed the process, I have been looking back at my work over the last few years lately.
I have come to the conclusion that I do like my drawing technique but as I got better at developing my style, I absolutely didnāt care too much for the direction I was going in. Perhaps I needed this time (and more?) to rethink my ideas?
THE SABOTAGE š©
I just decided to take a look at what was in my pencil case after a long while and I discovered that my most favorite mechanical pencil of all time was BROKEN. A Pentel GraphGear 1000 0.4mm, the only one of its kind in my possession⦠Iām not exactly in the position to buy a new one either nowā¦
I felt the urge to draw again numerous times this month after two years but despite the fact I do have other pencils, now Iām *really* not feeling like drawing anymore so thereās that. š„²

Tfw you legit think you *really* have lupus but your rheumy had skipped town earlier so you have to take matters into your own hands because your symptoms are happening *now*
+++Story timeā¦
So I just had a birthday almost two weeks ago and I asked for an ice cream cake. It was a pretty aquatic blue and purple mermaid themed yellow sheet cake.
Unusually, my family hardly wanted any cake at the small gathering aside from pizza. Knowing how i hated food waste, I had one or two slices of cake a day with a little gingerbread ice cream as a toppingā¦until earlier this weekā¦
My face had slight redness in the shape of a butterfly across my cheeks as well as redness on my forehead and chin that was itchy, painful and burning. Also went to my scalp and I shed a little hair. I felt widespread joint pain, body aches and fatigue worse than my usual. Apparently my immune system was like āWTF are you doing???ā I thought it was allergies or my skin care routine but Iāve never had allergic reactions like that and it wouldnāt have been delayed for a week. š¤·
Iām just glad I got by this time with some green tea, honey, ibuprofen, lots of water and rest for a few days. Gonna have to save this one for whenever I am able to get a new rheumatologist soonā¦

Tfw you absolutely love color theory and you get to officially study it in a class only to find that unbeknownst to you, youāre suffering from a seemingly insignificant yet extremely rare form of mild color blindness called tritanomaly that affects how you perceive blue lightā¦and blue is also your favorite color⦠(what an utter betrayal)
So Iāve got a confession to make. Thereās a very real possibility I have āslight color blindnessā and I never noticed it until recently.
I looked up a condition regarding ādifficulty with perception of colorā and eventually I found āanomalous trichromacyā. Itās more like I can see a wide range of colors but thereās sometimes a glitch or an āanomalyā that makes certain colors appear different, or more muted, (not actually full on color blindness).
This model I found online and cropped features a condition called ātritanomalyā but I feel like it is pretty accurate to what I experience.
When I look at a particular part of a wide color spectrum, the colors in my peripheral area start to look muted, or in other words, both the default example and the representation of the condition start to look the same.
So that likely explains my difficulty with coloring my art and digitally in this case Iād adjust brightness and saturation a zillion times before settling with something ādecentā. Could also be why I prefer only lines and value or if I do color, itās solid color, sometimes with accents or gradients.
On the other hand, perhaps this could push me to explore more alternative color schemes in the future (mainly for my own personal reasons).
