So I was having a conversation with my mother about fictional characters, right? I was telling her about how a lot of times some people will take someone else's attraction to a fictional character so personally that they'll force them to get banned everywhere online, expose their personal information, and overall get them in trouble JUST BECAUSE they found a fictional character hot. Not a real life person, not a real human being with a living, breathing soul, but a fictional character, one that is NOT real whatsoever. A lot of artists I looked up to back then have literally disappeared because of it, which sucks because I cannot find them or their content anywhere. They weren't even problematic irl, they just liked stuff that was considered "weird."

Anyway, she literally agreed with me and said that there's nothing wrong with liking them as long as they're fictional, not real at all, and I didn't even have to bring up the terms "proship" or "antiship."

I even showed her the characters that I like, and those characters are literally LEGO. They don't even look CLOSE to a real life human being! I'm not even attracted to real people anyway, which is the funny thing (I'm aroace irl). But yeah, they're objects, items. These characters are made of plastic, they're not even alive. They don't eat, sleep, or breathe like humans do. They don't follow laws or anything because they're not living things. Just because someone makes the characters move and talk in an animation, or even just in an image, doesn't mean they suddenly become a real person that exists in the real world and lives the same way we all do...

Either way, my attraction is strictly towards fictional characters, and she said she was fine with that. My own mother. And yet random people online that haven't even met you in real life will say that it's disgusting, and that anyone who feels that way towards certain fictional characters should take their own life because of it??
