this whole fuckin blog made me a wreck

(( so @the-wonder-duo finally made the gay day and holy fuck, i speak for everyone when i say i was hit in the god damn feels. and then seeing the spike of fanfic of katsuki’s proposal ? fucking magical. but i didn’t see any fanfic of what happened after the matter, so i wrote something down real quick. i wanted to go into more detail with the medical side of things, but my heart just wanted bakudeku fluff. i just can’t. this blog..

When Izuku woke up, he felt comfortable- far more than he has in recent times. Even with Kacchan wrapped around him heavy and warm, he felt lighter and okay. He couldn’t pinpoint why, but it was a relief. Getting a break from feeling like he was going to suffocate at any moment was very welcoming.

Izuku sighed peacefully and tilted his head to press his cheek into Kacchan’s hair, feeling the strands catch on his stubble that he hadn’t bothered to take care of for a while. His partner’s arm over his ribs and breath on his shoulder made such a wave of euphoria wash over Izuku that his eyes began to water.

Katsuki Bakugou was his fiance and it felt so right after all that’s happened to them in the past six years. Izuku knew with his entire being that he was going to fight to stay alive at least until they were officially married. He’d been asking for last chances and things since he’d become terminally ill, but he wanted this the most. Even though the proposal wasn’t on best circumstances, and they had rough history, Izuku was going to marry the man he’d been in love with for longer than he’d admit willingly.

Before tears consumed his vision, he looked down to Kacchan, knowing that he could fight a little more for him. He was the man Izuku would pass All Might’s legacy down to and the man he would spend whatever allotted time of his life he had left with. Katsuki could have stayed away and started anew, but he stayed. He’s here at Izuku’s side and would stay until the end.

Izuku traced his fingers over the back of Kacchan’s hand as a wobbly smile settled in. His eyes began to water and blur, but Izuku kept watching the movement of his fiance's breathing and the tan lines of his caramel skin peeking out from his shirt.

His breath hitched and he braced for a coughing fit that never came. The painful constriction on his lungs was gone and the slithering pressure in his chest was gone- only a small ache remained. His eyebrows drew and he took a deep breath, testing the waters. Izuku was surprised as the only stutter was from the ache. When Izuku figured out why he could breathe and felt healthier, he nearly choked. He could hear the heart monitor spike to the thrumming in his chest, but he was focused on other things. 

Initially, he was overwhelmed with shock that his death sentence had just been lifted, then pure joy set in. He started crying at this point, patting Kacchan’s hand and nudging his shoulder a little roughly.

“Kacchan! Kacchan wake up!” It didn’t take much effort to wake his partner up since he had always been a light sleeper, especially recently, but Izuku was too grateful to control himself. Kacchan was up in an instant, but alert and extremely exhausted. His fiance saw his tears and leaned up on an elbow to better assess the situation.

“What’s wrong?” Katsuki kept his tone calm and even, but Izuku knew the worry he’d been seeing more of lately in his eyes. But none of that mattered right now. All that mattered was that he was going to live. 

“They’re gone, Kacchan! I can’t.. They’re gone!” He wanted to say more- say everything, but he started sobbing. He shook and gasped and smiled through his breaths because he was going to be okay. All of the funeral arrangements and will making- for nothing. He would get to marry Katsuki and live longer to be a husband.

And Kacchan was there, holding him tighter and soon he was crying right along. His partner cried into his hospital gown and Izuku wrapped his own arms around him, so grateful he was lucky enough to get another chance. 

He wouldn’t have to ask for Kacchan to cook one last time for him. Their first kiss wouldn’t be their last. He didn’t have to ask Kacchan again to take his quirk. There wouldn’t be any lasts.

His partner soaked his hospital gown while Izuku soaked the pillow, overwhelmed because Izuku did make it. Kacchan made sure of it. Izuku even saw him adjust the one hearing aid he had in and check every inch of his chest. But Izuku couldn’t feel the fungi, and he knew Kacchan couldn’t hear them either. They were gone.

Eventually, his fiance lifted his head up and Izuku blinked the blurriness away. Kacchan balanced on one hand, his other grasping Izuku’s, still mindful of the cords coming from his arm. The hero rarely smiled genuine, but right now, Izuku had never seen one bigger on him. He hadn’t even known Kacchan had dimples until now.

“I fucking told you.. I knew you’d make it, Deku.” His words were wobbly and emotional and Izuku felt another wave of tears hit him. He pulled Kacchan down with his other hand and they laid there until the day welcomed Izuku Midoriya back into the land of the living.

Sero’s hero costume is a bit dangerous… Bakugou was probably hit in the front with the lower part of Sero’s helmet at the first attempt.

But Sero asked him to do the spiderman kiss, so they tried once again, this time it was a success!!
