Forgot I had this blog.
I scrolled through it and reminisced the joy that this contest used to bring me. The tallying of my favourites, watching the fun, shiny acts, the endless anticipation for something fun that I'd been waiting for all year, and, of course, doing it all with friends and tumblr mutuals. What a lovely tradition that I am still so happy got to be a part of my life.
And what struck me wasn't just how I no longer have that in my life, but how it feels like the e b u has changed the contest itself beyond my recognition... The vibes are awful. The atmosphere is evil. There is no silliness, no levity, no focus on integrity. Everything is centred around *that country*
This year, when the contest came up in conversation at work, I decided to explicitly say 'I am boycotting because of Isr/ael's participation' to shut down the topic. Everyone nodded, continued to say a few things about it, which I was fine with, but the vibes are off among casual viewers and have been for some time.
The brand of the contest was once so silly, then became something kinda fun... and is now depressing. And I hope the e b u realizes that.

Happy New Year to the Eurovision fandom
This is the year that Claire will finally meet Roberto Bellarosa!!!!!!!
I’m predicting a Bulgarian win and apparently so are the bookies. Portugal would be lovely too, and he can pull it off for sure.
Is it just me or was Italy very ... underwhelming
If Hungary doesn't do well I'll cry
Imri is hotter than his song, sorry
@arabela25 oh shit really? Now I feel bad
God gabbani has rainbows on his sleeves to try to get the gay vote smfh
I'm predicting Bulgaria but Portugal could just so it If Italy actually does win tho... I might cry tears of pain
Everyone pray for Portugal
Interesting that the top 2 songs in the bookies' odds are two non-English songs in an English dominated contest
where were you when ivi adamou came out with the bop that was la la love
