Octonauts swap AU - changes

This took trial and error, but I finally got it. And yes, Bianca and Squirt are here because they need more screentime.

Octonauts

Captain Dashi - a very calm and rational leader. She uses her Octo-Compass to take pictures while out and about. A bit more motherly than her prime counterpart, and she travelled a lot with Ryla before she eventually took on her role. (Barnacles)

Lieutenant Shellington - highly excitable and eager to learn what’s out there. He may not be the best driver, but Dashi helps guide him in the right direction. He often tries to guess what sea creatures they are dealing with, but doesn’t have the knowledge of his prime counterpart. (Kwazii)

Medic Tweak - learned a lot about treating creatures while living with her parents in the Everglades – Dad; Botanist Marsh and Mum; Ranger Glade (sadly deceased). Her mind is as quick as a whip, and she will often be munching carrots between wrapping up bandages. (Peso)

Scientist Barnacles - a bit more open with how he’s feeling than his primary counterpart. He has raised the Vegimals, and hasn’t quite understood their language, so he asks Shellington for help. Sometimes, he’ll give the Gup A a gentle drive around to study new creatures, but stays away from caves at all costs. (Shellington)

Photographer/IT Officer Kwazii - a more efficient driver than his primary counterpart. He’ll still take the Gup B out to take more pictures, especially of fast moving sea creatures. Shellington absolutely believes every story he tells. (Dashi)

Engineer Peso - he found his calling after he made an artificial flipper for his father (orca attack). He maintains the Gups, Octopod and other repairs and tech work with a calm, steady flipper. Peso reminds everyone to be careful, as he doesn’t want Tweak to get overworked with injuries. (Tweak)

Professor Calico Jack - he was exploring on his own after being forcibly separated from Kwazii. He missed him dreadfully and felt lonely with just him and Pete. Eventually, he meets Barnacles and Shasta, and tells them about his desire to help other sea creatures after seeing cruel things happening to them. And what about Kwazii? He reunited with him when he least expected it. (Inkling)

Lead Vegimal Barrot - the first Vegimal hatched by Barnacles in the lab. Though a bit skittish, he was also lightning fast in helping others in distress. (Tunip)

Secondary Vegimals Tunip, Pikato, Sharchini and Halibeet - Barrot’s closest circle of friends, and the more sensible members. (Barrot, Tomminow, Gouber and Codish)

Background Vegimals Tomminow, Gouber and Codish - More cheeky and playful, these three are the ones who hatched last. (Pikato, Sharchini and Hailbeet)

Former Photographer Clover - Clover was still close with Tweak, and found calm in photography. But on the mission against the pirates, when Barnacles was preoccupied with another task, Clover swam away from the Octonauts. Kwazii leapt in and helped rescue the fish. (OC; was former Lieutenant in the main timeline)

Octo-Agents

Explorer Inkling - Inkling was quietly exploring different reefs on his own. He was accidentally swept up into the Amazon one day, and started looking around for new species there. Eventually, he reunited with Squirt when the Octonauts were visiting there. (Calico Jack)

Emergency Post Operator Bianca - Being a mother is a lot of work, but Bianca is helping her cubs learn the ins and outs of her job. She too is learning to be more independent and gain courage with her brother’s absence. (Tracker)

Botanist Marsh - Marsh keeps the Everglades’ plants healthy by helping to remove invasive species. His late wife was better at managing creatures, and his other daughter, Tina, moved back home to help. (Selva)

Ranger Min - Min travels the world to various eco-systems to help animals in their habitats. She is thrilled to reunite with Inkling and Squirt and has become a sort of ‘mother’ to the Octo-Agents. (Marsh)

Map Maker Selva - Searching through various locations and drawing maps, Selva eventually met Barnacles while he was trying to find a birthday present for Dashi. (Min)

Polar Scout Leader Natqick - When Bianca had a cold and couldn’t take the cubs for their journey, Natqick was more than willing to step in to help. He loves his adopted son and daughter, as well as his adopted grandcubs. (Bianca)

Ice and Snow Specialist Tracker - A recent graduate, Tracker set up his supplies in the Antarctic. Barnacles was pleased as punch to see him again, and reunited him with Bianca and Natquik. (Natqick)

Animal Coach Pearl - Helps animals in the kelp forest learn survival skills, including her son, Periwinkle. Because Shellington had urchin allergies, Pearl helped him find some food he could actually eat. (Haruka)

Hydrolagist Ryla - Ryla and Dashi are still old friends, as they travelled together to various locations to examine water. She loves exploring and discovering any unusual creatures along the way. (Paani)

Scientist Bud - While his and Tweak’s career paths are different (her being a medic in this timeline) Bud’s skills help his family identify creatures in the local area. Very helpful for when they have to build their lodge. (Pearl)

Cave Diver Paani - Paani often travelled by himself into caves. He loves the feeling of water and swimming - it’s soothing to him. He was quite lonely, but eventually met some new friends while lost on a cave diving expedition. (Ryla)

Engineer in Training Haraka - She travelled the savannah often tinkering around with what she could find. But it wasn’t until she met the Octonauts and Agents that she was really able to tap into that potential. (Bud)

Former Engineer Frost - She’s still Tweak’s penpal, and she was the one who learned from the beavers how to be an engineer. Frost has a very delicate paw and will lend a listening ear. She left to help her sister Snowy raise her niece Ice after her brother-in-law Gust died. When the Octo-Agents began, Frost immediately agreed to join. (OC; was former medic in the main timeline)

Former Captain Shasta - She’s still childhood friends with Barnacles, and she took up the role of Captain rather well. However, she missed her family dearly. When Dashi, who was lieutenant for a while, proved to be a skilled leader, she decided to step down. Even more so when Shellington proved himself as second-in-command. Intrigued by getting more freetime as an Octo-Agent, Shasta agreed to rejoin her friends. (OC; was former photographer in the main timeline)

Juniors

Orson & Ursa - A bit younger than when we see them debut in The Arctic Adventure. (Periwinkle)

Pinto - Debuts in the Kelp Monster Mystery instead of Kelp Forest Rescue. The Great Penguin Race happens further along in the timeline. (Koshi)

Periwinkle - A bit older than when we see him debut in The Urchin Invasion. (Orson & Ursa)

Koshi - Debuts in the Kelp Forest Rescue instead of Kelp Monster Mystery, and also appears in The Oarfish. (Pinto)

Squirt - Joins the Octonauts in The Great Christmas Rescue to look for his Uncle Inkling. Reunites with him in the Amazon Adventure. (Sort of gets Kwazii's "lost family" story arc)

Ice - Frost’s niece, looks up to her aunt, adopted uncle Kwazii, and Peso, who shares the same career path as her aunt. (OC)

Though, you'd think Dashi would have her camera, not her phone.

Clover and Tweak lived together in the Everglades. Clover had an older brother, Pine, and older sister, Lilac. Her parents are Oak and Violet.

Working in the Everglades, Tweak's parents and Clover's parents were a really effective team. Marsh and Oak were rangers, while Violet and Glade were medics. When their respective children were born, Tweak and Pine followed in their dads' footsteps as rangers, while Lilac and Tina followed their mums' in being medics too.

But when Clover came along, she was stuck trying to choose between the two paths. Unlike Tweak and Tina's parents, Marsh and Glade, who didn't mind which paths their daughters followed; Pine, Lilac, Oak and Violet kept trying to pull Clover in both directions. In the end, Clover couldn't choose a path, and was left following Tweak and Tina around like a lost child.

However, disaster struck. Both Glade and Violet ended up dying due to a sickness. In the confusion, Oak and Pine moved to another forest, while Tina and Lilac went to work in a hospital.

Tweak decided she was going to go to Canada, and Clover followed her. It was here Tweak honed in her engineering skills thanks to Eve and Steve, the beavers, and eventually got her position as the Octonauts' engineer. She also put in a good word for Clover, and how obedient she was. That landed her as the Octonauts' second-in-command.

However... Clover also met Barnacles, and she got a huge one-sided affection for him. Tweak crushed on him too, but stepped back because she didn't want to upset Clover. And... this crush Clover had, only made things worse. She worshiped the very ground Barnacles walked on, and never chose anything for herself. Barnacles' kind demeanour wasn't helping either, and the only one who saw Clover's red flags was Shasta. But she left the crew not long after Dashi took her place as photographer and relived Tweak of IT duties...

Eventually, Clover's Octonauts career ended. When she and Barnacles were trying to rescue fish from some pirates, Barnacles was cornered and caught under a sail. He told Clover to run! And run she did... ran away from the Octonauts entirely. No looking back, or giving Barnacles a second thought.

Thankfully for Barnacles though, a bright orange cat had fought off his would be attacker, and eventually took the role of second-in-command that Clover left behind.

Personally, I think Fu-tu-re should be Season 1's outro, as the season itself is slower paced, and easing the heroes into the adventure.

Season 2's song should be T.O.P.. Thanks to the Adventure adaptions and a slice of Sonic Battle in the mix, coupled with the plotline of everyone hurrying to get home, this song's fast paced tempo fits really well.

And that leaves Season 3 with The Shining Road. Tails and Cosmo. Need I say more?

Octonauts - Captain title

Dashi is Captain of the Octo-Agents in all but title. However, she isn't quite sure to be called as such. After all, Barnacles has been Captain of the Octonauts for longer, and it feels a bit surreal to her. However, Barnacles knows there's room in both crews for TWO Captains.

Barnacles

Like with all holidays, Barnacles finds the holiday some harmless fun.

Barnacles likes it to be challenging, but knows that some of his crew are a bit slow. So, he deliberately places some chocolates in much easier spots.

He sometimes has to pause on riddles, but he can follows directions very well.

He and Bianca always got identical chocolates from the Easter Bunny on Easter, except for the chocolate bunnies. While Barnacles would get a chocolate bunny with a suit on, Bianca would get one with a flower on her head.

Kwazii

He does like Easter, but he prefers Christmas and Halloween.

The tricker, the better. Kwazii knows all the hiding places in the Octopod.

Excels in riddles, as pirates often hid their treasures via riddles on notes.

When Marigold and Tiger Lily were old enough to do the Easter Egg Hunt, Kwazii was so excited that he couldn't eat the chocolates he found until the following day.

Peso

Easter is a great joy, as Peso's extended family often get together for it.

Peso will be very careful where he hides the eggs. Never in the sick-bay though. There's too many things in there that could get broken or lost.

Surprisingly good at riddles, and had only gotten better at solving them thanks to Kwazii's influence.

Peso and his brothers and cousins put together a huge Easter Egg hunt every year. It's Pogo who usually finds the most, and he shares them all around.

Shellington

Easter was a bit of a quiet time for Shellington and Pearl growing up, but they found more joy in it as adults, away from their mother.

Shellington can get a bit overzealous when hiding the eggs. Sometimes, things will clatter over and break.

Will take riddles quite literally. But he'll get there eventually.

Crafted Easter baskets for the whole crew, each personalised.

Dashi

One of the simpler and sweet holidays, Dashi finds it charming.

Dashi will sometimes take pictures of her hiding spots, and has to refrain from showing her friends where she put them!

She gets a bit side-tracked in the Easter Egg hunt, too enamoured with the decorations, or with the wrappings on the eggs themselves.

Dashi and Koshi will often be detectives, on the hunt for where the Easter Bunny hid their gifts.

Tweak

Her favourite holiday. Practically hops for joy when it rolls around.

Very crafty with hiding places. Sometimes, the others will give up and she has to reveal it herself.

She can find them faster than anyone could say "buncha munchy crunchy carrots." Sometimes, Barnacles has to remind her to slow down.

Often pretends she is the Easter Bunny.

Inkling

He does enjoy the holiday. Seeing his younger crewmates so excited puts a spark in his eyes.

He always hides them the night before. It takes him a while to go around the whole Octopod.

He will follow riddles and directions decently enough, but will go at his own pace.

He swears he has some bunny ears and a tail somewhere.

Vegimals

More holidays, more excitement!

They will split up and hide the chocolates everywhere they can. However, one Vegimal has to be with Goupber at all times, because he will eat the chocolates otherwise.

There was a language barrier in their first year, but have learned English quickly. They can now find enough chocolates for all eight of them!

They thought Tweak was the actual Easter Bunny at first.

OC Time!

Frost

Finds it delightful, as Frost has quite the sweet tooth.

Sometimes will put in an extra thing next to the Easter chocolates. A card, a flower, some jellybeans.

She isn't the quickest at solving riddles, but gives it her best shot and has a great time.

While working at the hospital, Frost always makes sure the children there get something nice. If they can eat, she'll give them a chocolate or sweet. If they can't (because of an operation or something), she'll give them a toy to cuddle, a card she wrote, ect.

Shasta

Didn't quite understand it at first, but started to get into the groove.

Will struggle to hide the chocolates, but eventually finishes the job.

Follows riddles and clues very well, and will share with those who struggled more.

Shasta once shared half her chocolate bunny with Clover, when Barnacles told her to lighten up a bit. Both regret that now.

Clover

Loves the holiday, especially because her 'sister' gets to play the role of Easter Bunny!

She hides the chocolates, but they are a in a bit too obvious places.

Often struggles with riddles, but she often finds the chocolates peaking out from hiding places.

Her brother and sister, Pine and Lilac, found more chocolates than her while growing up, and they wouldn't share with her.

Shasta was an old friend of Barnacles, Bianca and Tracker, who lived in Alaska when they were cubs and she was a puppy. Shasta has a younger brother called Rocky, who works with the Puppy Scouts. And her parents are Blizzard (mother) and Talon (father).

Shasta is very straightforward and blunt, but has a good sense of humour and is sweet with those she's close too. She sailed around with Barnacles and Rocky before Rocky got homesick and wanted to be closer to his parents.

Barnacles and Shasta were both discovered by Inkling when he was gathering up members for what would later be known as the Octonauts. Shasta threw herself into the role of photographer, and often cooked meals for the team (Tweak, Frost and Clover also joined up around this time.). However, when the old Octopod crashed, she and her friends had to take refuge in Australia. It was here the crew met Dashi.

Shasta found herself liking remaining in one spot, and cooking meals with no real time limit. And slowly realised travelling from place to place didn't really suit her. Once it was discovered that Dashi had a natural eye for photography and could operate the IT systems as well, Shasta decided it was time for her to depart. She left for Alaska, and started cooking in a café nearby her old cottage. Shasta still remains in contact with the crew, sending recipes for the Vegimals to try cooking.

She is now part of the Octo-Agents, as that gives her more freedom than being an Octonaut.

Frost was Tweak's pen-pal and worked with Tweak's twin sister, Tina, in a hospital. Frost too has a twin sister, named Snowy, who is a police officer. Her parents are called Hurricane and Tornado.

When the Octonauts needed a medic, Frost was eager to join the team and see what life was like in the ocean blue. Sweet, bubbly, and empathic to her teammates, everyone adored having her around. The Vegimals called her "Granny Frost", even though she was only in her 20s. (Shellington had told them that his grandmother often made cookies, and Frost always had sweet treats on the Octopod. When he tried to correct them, Frost just giggled and let the nickname stick.). Sometimes, Frost could get a bit scatter-brained, but when it came to her medic work, she had everything locked down! On quiet nights, Frost, Tweak, Clover and Shasta (two other OC previous Octonauts), would often be found having a girl's night in each other's rooms. Same with Dashi, when she eventually replaced Shasta as the Octonauts' photographer. (Shasta also came in for visits on occasion afterwards, but that's neither here nor there).

Frost would have probably stayed longer, if not for tragedy. Snowy's husband, Gust, died shortly after the birth of their daughter, Ice. Frost decided that when a suitable successor was found, she would go back and help her sister raise her niece.

And Frost couldn't be more proud of Peso. Within two weeks, and when he had helped to rescue Barnacles after he injured his leg, Peso was officially given the rank of medic of the Octonauts.

Frost still keeps in touch with the Octonauts to this day, having become a sisterly figure to Kwazii in particular. She also sends medical supplies to Peso whenever the Octopod is in her local area. Eventually, she joined the Octo-Agents, along with her niece, Ice, who became a junior.
