I. HATE. IN-TEXT. CITATIONS.

Not just when I'm writing a paper, but when I'm READING a textbook it looks SO messy (Rick-Astley, 1969, p. 420) and it's SO distracting, (Morbius, 2022) and SO disruptive (Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen, & Rudolph, 1964.) to my reading and (Bird, Grouch, Monster, & Monster, 1997 ) learning process. And why are some of them SO FUCKING (According, 2007; To & All, 1991; Known, Laws, & Of, 2378; Aviation, 57 B.C.E.) LONG???

what queerbaiting is: the author/writer/director/etc PURPOSEFULLY being vague about the relationship between two same gender characters and talking about them on twitter/at cons/etc by saying things like "they have a Special bond ;)" "we'd say they're closer than a romantic bond" "they're soulmates" etc without actually putting any effort into making the pairing canon aside from scenes deliberately meant to fuel fans and keep queer fans watching without committing to actual representation

what queerbaiting is not: you spent too long in your online echo chamber and now think two white men should kiss when there's nothing on or off screen to imply it other than that you like their chemistry and you get mad when the creator says they aren't romantic or they never get together

what it is also not: a show genuinely trying to hint at queer representation but being unable to make it explicit due to the company the creator is working for

same thing happened 2 me i just transferred the water to an empty gatorade bottle and i just drop some cracker crumbs in there every once and a while and the bacteria love it. i have heard it refer to me by name before
