Angel was asleep – which was about the only time she felt comfortable leaving him alone. It wasn’t necessarily in her job description to save him from herself, but she never pretended to be anything but a perfectionist. He wasn’t going to die on her watch, even by his own dumbassery.
In an extremely boring turn of events she found herself using the unexpected down time to hit the agency’s gym. She was just finishing her third lap around the track when she heard the door open. New York had an obscene amount of them – too much privilege and paranoia. It could have been anyone, but when she saw Riley she swallowed, fighting off the urge to stop. She offered them a small smile as she breezed past.
It was unprofessional, the thoughts she had when she was around them. It was unprofessional the handful of times they’d slipped up, and it would continue to be unprofessional the next time they did it. Because they were nothing if not consistent. But god – she could look respectfully while they worked out without breaking any rules, right?
floating had its advantages — sometimes that meant not really having much to do — and that suited riley just fine. the less they had to deal with dumb kids making bad decisions — the better honestly. as good as they were at what they did — it could get annoying sometimes.
few places brought riley’s as much peace as the gym. it had a tendency to be emptier than it should be — maybe especially at this hour — and that was just the way they liked it. as they pushed the door open, a small sigh left them when they heard someone making their way around the track. great, they thought to themself, really not prepared to deal with people. the sense of disappointment faded the moment they looked up and locked eyes with saiya though, a slight smirk spreading across their lips.
riley hadn’t really cared much about the rules when they had hooked up the first time — and they didn’t really now either. staying away seemed impossible anyway, and in the most fucked up way possible — it was entertaining driving saiya to do things she knew she shouldn’t do. so as much as they knew they should keep it professional — that was the last thing they were about to do. with their trademark smirk still plastered on their face, riley’s gaze dropped to saiya’s ass as she ran off again.
Although Simon had it in him to wake up early, he was keen on taking advantage of those days he didn’t have to. He’d rarely been granted the liberty of sleeping in as a child, and now that he could he tried his best to make the most of it– except on special occasions. Normally Pat was the one to wake Simon up early with a cup of coffee in hand, but after a particularly grueling project in his class, Simon wanted to do something nice for him. He’d set his alarm, or rather, several alarms to make sure he was awake before Pat was, and had spent the better half of an hour in the kitchen since.’
With one hand holding a plate and the other holding two mugs of coffee, he used his elbow to open the door to Patrick’s room. “Morning,” he called out sitting on the edge of the bed and placing the omelet he’d made on the bedside table. “Hungry? I made you breakfast.”
school had been kicking patrick’s ass. and as much as he was used to it, it seemed that he was struggling a bit more with getting out of bed these days. his anxiety was at an all time high, and seemed harder to shake than it had been in a long time.
patrick was still fast asleep when he heard simon’s voice flood his room. a soft smile spread on his lips against his pillow once he smelled the coffee he had brought inside. it was hard not to feel all warm and fuzzy inside at the realization that he had sacrificed his previous sleep and gotten up before pat in order to bring him coffee. patrick had never been used to having friends around him that cared for him the way simon did — not until him anyway.
“‘m always hungry.” patrick mumbled sleepily as he rolled over to look at simon, a small smile on his face. “thank you.” he lifted the duvet for simon to join him like he so often did. “did you eat?”
