day 36 - hellsinger isnt fun for me anymore. ive been fixating on this game for three years and ive got so tired of it, especially after the outsiders' shutdown. my wife was forcibly laid in a coffin and i think it's time to let her go. she'll always have a special place in my heart
it's my final post on this blog i think. thanks to everyone who interacted with my doodles of her this whole time, it means a lot to me, i love you all :)
day 31 - today's doodle is a bit unusual. here's human Unknown I drew for something I've been working on..... let's hope i won't abandon this in two days
IT'S DONE!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE how this came out.
(I also learned some things while doing this so I get to yap about it down here!)
As you might know, this is my second time doing one of these big scenes! The first one was last week with Maude and The Entity.
The main thing I did new here-besides the models, though I'll talk about that later- was the lighting! For sure my favorite part to do.
This is my first time using the compositor (for the bloom effect on the spiral) and I'll definitely have to use it in the future.
I also wanted to experiment with the Blender lights! I used sun lights again but I would like to learn how to use the other types in the future.
For the models: I figured out how to give them a mouth rig! I LOVE how it looks on these characters... although I think learning how to rig the teeth properly should probably be my next goal lol.
Speaking of mouths... I did NOT realize the older animations had Bonnie opening her mouth slightly lmao. Not my intent.
I also changed their materials to be slightly metallic. It's by no means realistic but I think it works for this style.
Last, and certainly not least...
THE POCKETWATCH!!! While it's not as detailed as I would've hoped there are some cool things with the rig.
It does have the ability to open and close... AND the hour and minute hands are controlled using a driver from the winding crown. It should be accurate to how they move in real time!!!
And: it also controls the spiral in the back!
---
That should be about everything!!!! As I mentioned before I am SO proud with this so I would love to know what you think as well! (Though any interactions are appreciated really)
I personally think these are a good way to practice as well so maybe I'll start making them a regular thing. Full Render Weekends. Or something.
While I can't guarantee I'll do that Valentine's Day model (and I am bummed I didn't get the chance to do anything themed in time) I am considering making Diana a model and making something with her and Vint... so stay tuned for that :)
I was initially going to do a showcase with just The Entity but it would have been a bit lackluster considering it's not every detailed lol.
Not including the new model itself this took about FIVE HOURS to make. (And I still don't know how the colors look on my phone.)
To briefly go over what I did for the entity...
While it mainly consists of a bendy bone rig (so it can stretch and whatnot), I also gave it a somewhat decent eye and jaw rig! I decided to FINALLY figure out how to properly make an eyeball rig for this (turns out I was putting the head of the bone in the wrong part of the eye lol)
While I do think this is cool it also looks creepy as HELL by itself.
Ergh.
As for the scene itself: the (tendrils?????) around the entity aren't actually a part of the rig! They're separate curves with the same material.
I also tried setting up lights for once and I think I did decent? I might have missed one or two areas but it's fine for someone who's not an expert at this.
Once again if anyone has any lighting tips for Blender it would help a lot lol
But overall I think it came out super cool!!! I'm super proud of how this looks so tell me what you think as well!
And also let me know if you would like to see more cinematic scenes because it takes a while to set up but I love making them....
(As mentioned before INTERACTIONS ARE SUPER APPRECIATED!!!! THIS IS A LOT OF EFFORT!!!)
I'll need a break beforehand but since they're invading my brain (AGAIN) I plan to do Vint and Bonnie next!
I've also finally settled on a redesign for Bonnie so stay tuned for that...
