            “are you looking for anything, or anytime, specific?”      she asks in the dim light of her studio, wiping paint off of her hands as she glances at the pieces around them.      “most of it is for sale so long as it’s already happened. the rest is   ——   personal, so to speak.”

He eyes the room with as much detail as he does her--though with less interest--- the dim light means little to his superior senses and he sees it all with little obstacle. He’s heard things-- things of enough interest to bring him from his usual surface haunts. Even if it all nonsense at least it’s nonsense in attractive company. “Perhaps, what do you have concerning the ocean?”

          the escape attempt had been poorly planned, but padme is sure that they’d expected another one of her sooner. arms bound behind her back she’s all loose muscles and some sort of bruising at the base of her spine and just below her ribs.            “kylo,”           she’s never known him by any other name, so it’s easy to call him by what he prefers, the name more of a ghost than a man. what had he been like while his heart still beat?

           “what’s the purpose of this game of find and retrieve?   ——   i promise, i’ll cooperate if you untie me. i won’t attempt something so soon after a failure,”            and just the way her arms are bent is causing the trail in her voice. she’s not his grandmother, not by anything more than genetic material, and she’s so tired right now that she’d not even think to play that card. ANAKIN would’ve done the same, she’s sure, vader would’ve killed her outright, rather than see her return to a side that wasn’t his own.

He pauses in his motions to turn to her slightly at the call of his name. With his helmet in place it’s all simple-- guest turned prisoner, host turned guard. He can forget all other possible connections, allow himself to be more thing than man. A concept.

At her statement he places his sabre with the cleaning rag on the table and turns to her completely. In a motion only made smooth by the sheer length of his stride he comes to rest on his haunches before her. Gently he touches one of her arms as if confirming that they’re real and bound. There’s a long span of tense nothing before he speaks, his voice distorted completely. “I suppose that’s true, you’re not an idiot. I do doubt how far that cooperation will go...” Still he gets up after another long moment of staring, head cocked up at the woman who meant so much so long ago before getting up and moving to release her resistants.
