The exhibition is nearly done....
The response I received from the Contemporary Glass Society has been overwhelming - it almost warrants a project itself. I'm just bringing together all the content - I hopefully should have it ready in time for the opening...
Contemporary Glass Society
I recently did a shout out to female members of the Contemporary Glass Society - asking for photos of workspaces, artwork and insights into their artistic process. The response has been great! I definitely wish I had pursued this route earlier in the year, a real wealth of material has been collected - all of which will undoubtedly inform the permanent exhibition at the Red House Glass Cone, Stourbridge.Â
To be opened on the 24th October - so much to do and in so little time! Â

Spending my weekend at Dudley archives...
Checking over dates for the up and coming ‘Women and the Glass Industry’ exhibition - opening later this year...
New Job
I’ve recently started a new communications role at a gallery in Birmingham - a full time fixed-term job in the arts... I’m living the dream. However it means my updates and time committed to the HLF project has dipped a little over the past weeks. I’m a little annoyed with myself, however now I’m settled into my new role I really have no excuse. So here we go. I’m all over this. Let the frequent posts and updates begin...
Dudley Archives
My meeting with Dudley archives went incredibly well, and a number of points and future events were agreed:
Firstly, I will be attending the annual Local History Day (03/10/15) , stall and temporary exhibition in toe.Â
The temporary exhibition, featuring the stories of Women post-1945, will start it’s grand tour of the Black Country in the archive’s Foyer.
Hopefully a coffee/archival morning will take place there - date to be confirmed, however the thought was early september.
And finally the archive have kindly allowed me to peruse their recently compiled information/material concerning the local Glass Industry. It was a small project recently showcased during May’s International Glass Festival.Â
Ladies Day No.2
The Second Ladies Day took place last week. Once again the turnout wasn’t as strong as expected, however it had definitely improved - so at least it’s all moving in the right direction!
Also feedback was incredibly positive, those that did attend enjoyed themselves.Â
I do need to re-think a couple of things, particularly in regards to marketing & promotion. All I can say is watch this space...

Coffee Morning in the Cameo Gallery, 23/04/2015.
It was a success...
The project’s second Coffee Morning took place earlier today, and it was a success! (or more successful than the first) Numbers increased by 100% (from 4 to 8), the feedback was positive, and new contacts were made.
Part of the project is the recording and possible exhibiting of local resident’s memories. The coffee morning’s have allowed me to gradually accumulate a list of hopeful interviewees, with differing perspectives and experience, but all with an enthusiasm for telling their story. At the beginning of the project I thought such mornings would be a place to collect memories, however, although they have proved to be a space for sharing, more so they have been an invaluable tool for building rapour with attendees - something I believe will be priceless as the project evolves.
