Of connecting the dots

Probably the longest email I received from Pa, in response to an email sent to him by my clueless, whiny, too idealistic, feeling entitled fresh grad self back in 2008. Reading this again made me realize that my perspective on work has significantly changed since then. Work is both humbling and, for lack of a better word, dignifying (uplifting?). 

This is for fresh grads and not-so-fresh grads, and people who think that the grass is always greener on the other side (occasionally guilty of this) :)

Choosing a career path

Old me: pAsSion!

Mid 2018 me-present: Strengths>>passion

Strengths = what you’re good at.

Strengths can be drawn from a personality trait.

Can you utilize those skills to your advantage?

Finding one’s passion puts too much

pressure on people and it’s what causes

anxiety nowadays. People feel that when

they start something, it has to be

something they love.

But it really could just be something you think is

interesting. The more you’re open to try new

things, the more skills you can bring to your new

venture.

FYI just because you “Love”

something doesnt mean you won’t face

adversity and hate it at times. There are

things like burn out and days that it just

sucks.

I’ve been trying to ask you for advice since like forever! Can writer’s block also apply to things such as writing assignments?

I’m not even convinced that there’s a real thing that’s Writers’s Block. I think there’s getting stuck on something , and there’s not being ready to write something. And both of those can apply to anything you’re meant to be writing.
