April 1, 2026: Artemis II begins its 10-day journey to the moon and back by launching from LC-39B at the Kennedy Space Center
Commander Reid Wiseman, pilot Victor Glover, and mission specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen will become the first human beings to visit the moon since the astronauts of Apollo 17 in December 1972. The crew will spend the first 25 hours in a highly-elliptical Earth orbit to test spacecraft Orion's systems before performing translunar injection, the burn that will place them on a trajectory to the moon.
