imagine one day, the ocean were to be emptied by the industrial expanse. completely dry. obviously this would have major implications for the future of the world, but we aren’t overly concerned about specifics for my purposes here.

now, let’s say you decide you and a few billion of your closest friends want to do something about it. you spread word, and the entire world’s population agrees to empty all the water in their body into the ocean. How close do you think this noble sacrifice would bring the ocean to being refilled? 50%? 20% 10%

in fact, it would not even be refilled by a single percentage point. (my calculations may be off here because i’m doing this before dawn after waking up on 3 hours of sleep, but either way it would not be even close to a significant amount).

the point i’m trying to make here is that while it may be noble to give your time, your energy, or your life to a cause, large scale problems will generally require large scale solutions. this isn’t to say that you should stop volunteering at your local charities or whatever, if you enjoy it and you have the time then you might as well pour a little of yourself out. however, be careful not to drain all of yourself into the ocean for something it will not notice.

don’t misunderstand me, i have zero issue with feminism (in fact i’m undoubtedly in support of it), but baselessly beating down on men based purely on stereotype is not feminism, it’s sexism, exactly the same as if i were to make some provably false ‘joke’ like “how it feels trying to find a woman with basic intelligence”

unsurprisingly, none of the people backing this post have any argument for it, exactly like people sexist toward women trying to back up their ideas. the most i saw in its defense was “womp womp” or “the men are getting angry”, which sounds exactly the equivalent of what redneck conservatives say when someone criticizes their sexist or racist ‘jokes’.

i assure you, you are capable of being more mature than this. so please, search for some of that empathy you claim you’re the only ones to possess.

can someone explain why autism is considered just one thing? it manifests a million different ways and has loads of causes or contributors, of which, to the best of my (fairly small amount of) knowledge, none of are universal. it seems to me that if something doesn’t have a consistent cause or a consistent effect you could probably split it up a good deal more than just saying “it’s a spectrum”

also, only partially related, but i did some light googling and was surprised to find very little information about autism subclassifications. like, of all the groups i would expect to make a bunch of neat little descriptors for themselves, the autistic community would have to be pretty near the top.
