I think in order to come back to this blog I'm going to need to revamp. I'm not sure if I should just clean it up or restart tho. 🤔 I guess I could flip a coin?

@occultuncover said : “Quick! Out the window!” FOUR WORD PHRASES. Meme | Open
He’s spent so many years criticizing all these dumb characters in the countless horror and action movies. Splitting up, asking stupid questions whenever the danger was so bloody obvious and imminent. Yet here Lance finds himself now, doing the exact same thing. Because this is nuts.
“What?! Are you kidding me? It’s like a 50 feet drop! We’re on the second floor in case you forgot!”
Ivan sensed a bad vibe from the abandoned building that they had gone to. He should have just turned back but Lance had roped him into staying. Now with an angry ghost on their tails, there didn’t seem to be much option left other than to jump out the window, though maybe there had been a secret passage or something they had missed. “Well, we don’t seem to have many other options, but if you have one to suggest to go for it.” To be honest Ivan was afraid, but had to do his best to stay calm. He was supposed to be the expert in this situation.
demcnsinmymind
“An abandoned mansion, that sounds interesting” Lance replied, fascination and a certain greediness obvious in his eyes. He takes the file from Ivan and then starts leafing through the contents, too. Soon enough, a wide smirk starts forming and he looks back up.
“Ivan, this looks fucking great! Guess people weren’t wrong about you” he muses, only to look back at the contents of the folder. The pictures, the news articles and interviews with people who supposedly saw something. It certainly sounds a whole lot more promising than that graveyard they had been to in the previous episode.
“You got any contact info? The owners, some of the people who saw stuff in there? They would be perfect for the opening part.”
After a few minutes more, Lance hands the file back to Ivan and gives him a little frown.
“What exactly is it that you do when you ‘solve’ cases anyway? Does it trigger some activity? Because that would be great for the show.”
Whenever he’s excited, he certainly has his moments. Of wanting to believe, being willing to suspend his own skepticism. This right here, all thanks to the file and all its pictures, is one of those moments. Lance almost looks like a kid in a toy store, over the moon because of the prospect of actually capturing something this time.
“Um, yeah I do, but I’m not sure if they’d want to be on tv...I wouldn’t want them getting upset or have a bad image about me.” He suddenly felt like he was going to regret this, but he isn’t wanting to back out now.
Ivan gives a shrug and finishes off the alcohol in his glass. “I mean, it’s not really exciting most of the time. Mostly I just talk to spirits and find out what’s wrong, though when they aren’t aware they’re dead that’s when it can be tricky. So...you’re probably gonna have to tone it down and not be so...showy ‘cause something might go wrong if the wrong spirit gets upset.”
“All the contact info should be in the folder. I can write it down for you.” He supposes they’d need the owners permission to film regardless... He just really hates when people make such a big deal about things.

“Well I didn’t. I know better, but my friends did.” He wanted to use the term friends loosely. “Anyways, I just... I just.... I don’t know what to do and you were the first person I thought of to go to.”

“Yes, I can see ghosts and communicate with them, but you don’t have to believe me about that. It’s not like you have any proof of it.” His hand lingers over his pack of cigarettes for a few brief moments before he decides not to take one. Not now. He could have one later.
A brow raises in his own skepticism. He really wasn’t going to believe Lance right away. Why would he want genuine stories if he didn’t believe in ghosts…or maybe he was in denial and a part of him truly did believe. It wasn’t really Ivan’s business, well maybe now it was since he was the one inquiring about his services.
With a sigh, Ivan taps his fingers on the desk as he thinks. “How much money are you offering? And…if I agree you aren’t going to get me on camera are you? I don’t want any part of this other than coming with you to make sure things go smoothly.” He’d do his best finding a place that seemed safe, but you could never tell from a webpage.
“Well, compensation depends on the location, really. We have a fixed budget per episode. How much of that goes into the location depends on how much equipment we’d need to bring in to shoot it properly” Lance replies, trying to stay vague on purpose. It’s fucking television, he can’t help but think, barely able to keep an eyeroll in.
“But hey, that’s not the end of the line. The better and realer the footage is, the higher the chance that the network picks up another season. Which means more budget and certainly a need for more locations. And if you work’s legit, I’m sure we can arrange a nice deal for you. There could even be a researcher position in it for you.”
Lance can’t help but laugh at the camera comment.
“Yeah, no, of course not. We’re professionals and we’re a team. There’s no room for an extra face on camera anyway. If you wanna come around, sure, always need an extra hand on set.” As if he’d let the guy anywhere near his set. But the TV host knows that this isn’t the time to make that clear yet. Not until he has what he wants. “You got a particular location on mind?”
“I see...” His fingertips drummed against the desk again. He should have expected that. It was probably one of those low budget tv shows. Oh well, he’d have to take what he could get. Usually he wasn’t a greedy person, but this guy really irritated him. And he could use the money. “I can assure you my work is legit. Guess you’ll just have to wait to see.”
After downing the wine, Ivan gets up and looks through the file cabinet again, searching for a particular file. “Most of my cases have already been solved, but...” Ivan takes a few moments to leaf through the folders in the cabinet. Once he found what he was looking for, he walked back over to his desk and handed Lance the file to look at. “There’s this abandoned mansion that’s supposedly haunted. I was supposed to get to it this week, but I’ve never really had the time.” Between bartending and his other cases he was busier than ever. He hadn’t expected his business to actually get customers.
demcnsinmymind
Oh dear. Ohhh dear. Here they went again. Truth be told, Lance didn’t even know anymore why this continued to surprise him. Six years since his original dive into the ‘paranormal’ side of the media. Interviewing countless people who really believed in ghosts and such. Yet it still caught the skeptic in him off guard. Every single time. But still. Business. New locations. He was here to get something for his show, and he’d be damned if he let his own disbelief and lack of real experiences get in the way of that. “Yeah tell me about those conspiracy theorists. Had my fair share of those” he said, chuckling to himself. “But no, that’s not what I’m after. I’m looking for genuine stories and locations.” He then gave the other a nod as he had another look around the room. “Yep, that’s what they’ve been saying about you. You’re the guy who goes to all the abandoned places. Even heard a mention or two about you being able to actually see ghosts, that true?” The TV host chose to ignore Ivan’s comment regarding the whole disturbing spirits deal, especially when he heard the somewhat disgusted tone in his voice when he finally asked about the show. The one where they did exactly that to get some good ratings. “We’re not hunting them. We’re…I’m trying to prove that they’re real.”
That’s the tagline he was selling anyway, wasn’t it? Penned down for the intro to his show during yet another allnighter in the edit bay some odd months ago. All thanks to the look on the other’s face, Lance decides to roll with the lie with him, too, his previous skepticism overplayed, trying to make him believe that he was a believer, too.
“Yes, I can see ghosts and communicate with them, but you don’t have to believe me about that. It’s not like you have any proof of it.” His hand lingers over his pack of cigarettes for a few brief moments before he decides not to take one. Not now. He could have one later.

“I just got back from the cemetery.”
“I swear I just saw someone… or something looking in my window.”
“I know I closed the damn closet door, but it keeps opening! Please tell me this is just some kind of joke you keep pulling.”
“What’s behind you in these pictures…?”
“Apparently like 20 years ago, some girl slaughtered her family in the basement.”
“I think there’s something about this house that you’re not telling me.”
“I keep hearing noises coming from the attic…”
“I know what I saw, and whatever is in the basement… it’s not human!”
“I didn’t have time to see what it was! I just got the hell out of there!”
“Whose grave were you bringing flowers to…?”
“The electricity guy said there was absolutely nothing wrong – and yet, the lights always flicker on at 2am. Explain that to me?”
“Why don’t you spend the night in that house ‘alone’, then try to convince me that you don’t believe in ghosts.”
“Y-you don’t understand, he didn’t have a face!”
“I had a dream that I killed you.”
“Ah, yes… the room you’re staying in. It’s a paranormal hot spot, apparently.”
“I keep hearing whispers at night… I-I can’t sleep!”
“There was something else in there with me, I’m not going back to that house.”
“Come on, it’s just an urban legend…”
“Are you trying to tell me I’ve been sleeping in a dead girl’s room!?”
"I keep getting the feeling that someone is following me.”
“Don’t panic… but I think there’s someone else in the house.”
“I can still feel her/his ghost, and it’s killing me…”
“There’s something growling in the basement… could you, uh… check it out for me?”
“Can you just… can you please check the closet?”
“P-please… put the knife down.”
“I bought this haunted ring on eBay!”
“No, no, no – run!”
"I didn’t forward one of those freaky chain letters and now I keep hearing the laughter of children coming from my hallways at night.”
“The dead are all around us…”
“She’s dead! She’s dead and yet I keep seeing her, everywhere!”
“There’s something breathing under the bed…”
"You can’t tell me you don’t believe in ghosts after all we’ve been through.”
“I saw something I wasn’t supposed to see, something… that wasn’t supposed to be here.”
“Maybe an exorcism is in order…?”
“I woke up, and it was j-just… staring at me.”
“He was there, then like a second later he literally vanished! I saw it happen!”
“I like the ghosts here… they keep me company.”
"You can’t honestly tell me you’re in love with a dead girl.”
“Wasn’t someone murdered in this house? Why are we here?”
“If dying means being with him/her, kill me. I’d be happier that way.”
“Ghosts aren’t real. You need help.”
“…what do you mean we didn’t talk last night? You came over, you were here.”
“You saw something you weren’t supposed to see. And now… now you know what has to be done.”

"What’s wrong with you? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Don’t! Don’t you dare open that door!”
“I visited his/her grave for the first time today…”
“Something terrible happened here, didn’t it?”
“Wh-why do you have a knife…?”
"You’re all bloody, what happened!?”
“You know that book from The Evil Dead? Yeah, well… I’m pretty sure we found something pretty damn similar to it.”
“You’re bleeding…”
“How can you not see it…? I’m dead! I’ve been dead for years!”
“I’ve always wanted to see you choking on your own blood.”
“I’m sorry, I’m busy Friday with the… funeral and all.”
“I’ll never forget the sound of his screaming.”
“From the looks of it, the afterlife is a lot more fun than this.”
"Legend has it that you can still hear her crying for her lover in the dead of night.”
“I want to be dead, too.”
“Well don’t you look lovely, all covered in blood.”
"Whoa – wait! Please don’t go down there… let’s just get out of here, please?”
“You played with a Ouija board!?”
“Me and some friends played with a Ouija board the other night… and things have been a little strange since then.”
