The time has come! Public voting in the #OGContest2017 begins at midnight (10/14/17 at 12:00pm MT) and goes through 10/16/16 at 11:59pm MT. This year, we have 6 finalists who have gone above and beyond to spread environmental awareness, and they have put together some very entertaining videos! In this past week, we've had two powerful community experiences. One was participating in the global community of the @bcorporation get together in Toronto, a synergy of minds, shared goals, and action plans to build "a global economy that uses business as a force for good". The second was participating in our local community, working together with other tireless community members to help our neighbors in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica after the nearby destruction caused by Tropical Storm Nate. While these experiences were very different from one another, they both highlighted the importance and vitality of COMMUNITY, the need for (as well as amazing results of) widespread participation, and the absolute satisfaction of being a part of something greater than the self. What our world needs is more #OceanGuardians. #Repost @justinhofman (@get_repost) ・・・ It’s a photo that I wish didn’t exist but now that it does I want everyone to see it. What started as an opportunity to photograph a cute little sea horse turned into one of frustration and sadness as the incoming tide brought with it countless pieces of trash and sewage. This sea horse drifts long with the trash day in and day out as it rides the currents that flow along the Indonesian archipelago. This photo serves as an allegory for the current and future state of our oceans. What sort of future are we creating? How can your actions shape our planet?
