Into the Swarm

“Help! Help!” Came a cry.

Mika looked up, shocked to see a young woman (who looked awfully familiar, Mika didn’t have time to check) being chased by a swarm of Beedrill. Leading the assault was a green Beedrill with blue eyes. She didn’t know much, but a few of her Pokémon were different colored, and this Beedrill seemed to sparkle, much like Garnet. The others must have respected its status as a Shiny Pokémon, and turned it into the leader of the group.

Readying herself, Mika put on her Mega Ring and motioned for Garnet to follow. The pair took off towards the swarm and made a grand entrance, Mika ordering Garnet to use Psycho Cut.

The Absol let out a cry as a pink blade sliced the air, knocking out a few of the Beedrill. The others took note, and Garnet stood in front of Mika, ready to protect her.

But Mika’s battle instincts had been awakened.

She sent out Benny, her loyal Lycanroc, knowing that the Rock-typing of the lupine would give her an edge. He’d be the distraction, as he used Accelerock to push the Beedrill back.

The young girl touched her Mega Ring’s Keystone and began doing swift motions.

“Trials and tribulations have led us here. Beauty and grace, strength and might. Together we can go beyond the limit and Mega Evolve!”

Punctuating that last word with her hand being raised above her head, Garnet grew angelic wings, her crest lengething and her claws growing sharper. When the light died down, the brilliant ruby color glowed with a mighty power one would think Arceus himself had graced her with.

The green Beedrill, noticing this, sent the swarm away, obviously being a protective leader, not unlikely due to the fallen comrades Benny and Garnet had caused.

Recalling Benny, Mika stood firm, her feet planted, and ready to attack. Garnet growled quietly. If this insect tried to harm Mika, she might lose her cool.

Instead, the Beedrill gunned straight for Garnet, using what appeared to be Drill Run. She was shocked, as Beedrill didn’t NORMALLY have that, but she shook it off and kept herself focused.

“Give it all you’ve got Garnet, Night Slash!”

The Beedrill and Garnet crossed blades, almost like two samurai. Garnet turned and crumpled to her knees, and the Beedrill toppled over. Defeated by Garnet’s strength. Truthfully, this was good practice for the tournament, but all the same, didn’t wild Pokémon tend to be weaker than trained Pokémon? Mika thought so. But she’d always be proud of Garnet no matter what.

Tossing a Pokéball at the fallen Beedrill, Mika healed it and took it back to its comrades- but he followed her. Rules of Nature meant the Beedrill saw Mika as the new Alpha- as her new commander. The thought made Mika giggle, but she happily brought along the Beedrill, aptly naming him Kaine.

She skipped to the Pokémon Center, and left him in the care of Nurse Joy to heal his wounds and let him become fighting fit.

Once he was ready, Mika switched Inazuma with him, ready to train Kaine to be another mainstay. Oh, and she definitely couldn’t wait to show Elfrid and the others.

I GOT A SHINY BEE

Preparation Time

Mika looked at the video as she finished sewing her outfit. It was custom made, with a Team Skull styled shirt, as her parents had always told her to show respect to hosts of events. She may not have liked the way Team Skull acted, but they were largely harmless, so no harm in joining the tournament with her friends, right? The video ended, and Mika smiled at the Absol laying at her feet. Her hand pet the fur, releasing sparkles. The Absol was red, and wore a tiara with a stone on it. "What do you think Garnet, does the outfit look good?" Mika smiled at the blue jacket and skirt, her own addition, as blue was her favorite color. Garnet cooed and rubbed up against Mika happily. "We're gonna win, aren't we? Elfrid and Avery stand no chance." Mika reached onto her headband and removed the star and pearls pin, then stuck it on her hat for her outfit. "Now I'm ready." The small girl hung the outfit, and prepped her bag. It was a couple days away, but she knew she had to be ready for everything. She'd finally be someone. @bigcalavera

The young girl ran over and scooped up the Pikachu, giving it a nasty look. Cakey just recently evolved! He's still a bit of a mischievous baby, I am so sorry!" Mika bowed, noticing that the lady did not appear too mad. If she was neutral that would be a blessing. With how Avery acted, Mika had had enough yelling.

"Don't think for a moment you'll win the Grand Festival, okay?" Mika giggled and spread apart the cards she had in her hand, "I know for a fact you've been after me for years because I beat you in my first contest as a child. I respect your conviction." A small breath as she paused, "But you're a bully, and I don't deal well with bullies. I have devised a fabulous new routine and you don't stand a chance!"

"Jeez Avery... You think I'd murdered your Mimikyu with the way you look at me..." the girl sighed, already exhausted of the other's constant hate towards her, "Could you at least be a little grateful that Miss Y and I saved your hide?"

It wasn't anything new to Mika, honestly. She was used to the other's treatment of her. All her life, Mika had been told she was crazy or silly or clumsy. She didn't want to be, but she was, no shame in admitting it. Still, it would have been nice for Avery to at least try being her friend, seeing as to how they both knew Elfrid, and he was the reason they were both here. "Alola's a cheery region and you're sucking the joy right out of it..."
