1.Where was your OC born, and where did they grow up?
She was born in her home realm (I’m yet to come up with a name for it). It's a world made up of vast grasslands as well as woodlands and mountain ranges. Her people are not really humans but can shapeshift into their human-forms when necessary. That’s where she grew up mostly. Post the death of her father, when her powers started to awaken, her mother had her sent to Enora with her Aunt (Tarah) for a year or so. It was meant to be a safe place where she could learn to control her abilities, away from conflict. That’s where she met Masamune for the first time as a child (At this point of the story, time dilation was already non linear because the future version of Marie, the one who had already become the ruler of Enora, also technically existed at the same time. The two of them just never crossed paths. ) She returned home soon after though, as she didn’t wish to stay away from her mother for too long.
2. How does your OC remember their childhood? Is this an accurate reflection of what their childhood was actually like?
She remembers the early parts of her childhood very fondly, when her family was whole and together. However, it soon started falling apart with her father dying and her brother declared dead soon after. Many elders who opposed the new regent were either put to death or mysteriously went missing. Things took a dark turn really fast. Most of her memories after that were about her family struggling to survive the politics, all the kids (she and her cousins) narrowly avoiding being killed on multiple occasions, while their mothers and other noble ladies of the family fought relentlessly to keep them out of harm's way.
I’d say it’s pretty accurate too, she tries not to think too much about it and prefers to focus on the present instead, but every now and then those memories come creeping back in.
6. How comfortable is your OC in their skin? Do they like who they are? What would they want to change about themself?
This one’s a little complicated. I mean, she likes who she is, but not exactly all the things it took to become this way. She’s actually quite proud of what she and her brother have accomplished together, she knows it's not an easy feat. But all those years of struggle changed both of them in ways they can never really undo. He went from being a bratty-trouble maker to a noble king and an even honourable man that everyone turns to and relies on, whereas she went from being the quietest little girl in their family to someone that personifies danger. They are like two faces of the same coin.
7. What is your OC's occupation?
The ruler of Enora, Princess by birth and Commander of the King’s guard. In Azuchi, alongside being the Chatelaine of the castle, she also helped out wherever she can, mostly in the armoury and infirmary, sometimes even in logistics and resources since these were areas she could contribute in without being directly involved in warfare. (similar to how mc became a seamstress).
She also made a few friends in the Castle town - the Kimono shop owner, the old couple who ran a tea house, and occasionally dropped by to help them when she had time.
11. What does your OC carry around in their pockets? What about their bag?
This is a silly one, because she doesn’t really carry anything with her. The ability to summon aka object teleportation gives her the privilege of travelling light. Anything she needs, she can always conjure up anytime. However, she does carry around a bag while in Azuchi, though. Because pulling random objects out of thin air would spook the people around her. So she'll dramatically reach into the bag first and pretend she took whatever it is out of there instead. It's entirely for everyone else's peace of mind. XDD
17. What are some of your OC's coping mechanisms during stressful or overwhelming periods in their life?
Isolation. If things become really overwhelming or something really upsetting happens, she disappears for a while. Either into her room or the forests, spending time around the forest spirits really helps her clear her mind. If neither of those are an option, she'll resort to training until she's exhausted. She takes the phrase ‘depression can’t hit a moving target’ too seriously sometimes.
20. How quick is your OC to shift blame? Do they own up to their mistakes, or are they prone to start pointing fingers at others?
Very rarely. If anything goes wrong, her first reaction is usually to blame herself. However, she is not above pointing fingers if it’s deserved, and can get people in trouble when she wants to. She doesn't really see herself as a particularly good person, and sometimes she'll make decisions that aren't exactly kind if she thinks they're necessary.
27. What are some assumptions others make about your OC? Are any of them true?
That she’s intimidating, even cunning at times, always calm and has everything under control. But only the first one is really true, mostly thanks to her resting bitch face.
28. What does your OC think others are saying about them behind their back? Is any of this true?
She assumes people must see her as cold or even fear her. But while that might be true for some, she'd be surprised to learn how her own people actually describe her presence as comforting and hold much respect and pride towards her. She's alot harsher on herself than other people are on her.
40. What is your OC afraid of?
Losing people she loves and losing control of her powers. She believes her powers are something that’s meant to protect the people around her, so any thought of them failing, terrifies her.
42. How easily influenced by others is your OC?
Not very. She's generally open to changing her mind if someone presents a good argument, but she doesn't cave just because someone is louder or more powerful than her.That said, the opinions of the people she loves matter a lot. If her family, Kenshin , or someone she trusts tells her she's being unfair or making a mistake, she'll probably argue with them at first....and then spend the next three hours wondering if they were right. That's usually how she ends up changing her mind..
