KFC for New Year’s Dinner! An unusual tradition that has been underway in Japan for decades now is for families to gather together and nosh on some Kentucky Fried Chicken during the holiday season! This year, KFC is selling chicken, biscuits, and fried shrimp in a traditional New Year’s Treasure Box.

The flavor was just like you get in the US, though the breading is much less crunchy. Like many adopted traditions, KFC in December is as Japanese as Gyoza and Ramen.

Food Pics from Niigata, Japan. The region is known for excellent water, rice, miso and sake. Agricultural products are the main export of this area, and all of them are pretty dang delicious!
