I used to laugh when this quote showed up in past years. Now it doesn’t feel funny at all—it feels uncomfortably true when I look at the behavior of this president and his administration. I’ve never seen this level of retaliation and retribution, sometimes over the smallest things—even something as trivial as a photo.

What’s hardest for me to understand is how so many people still support this kind of conduct from those in power. Sometimes it seems like people hold so tightly to their beliefs that they can’t let go, even when the consequences of their actions hurt their fellow human beings.
