Best Restaurant to Order Fried Chicken in Singapore
Fried chicken is one of the most beloved dishes here on the island. There are myriad restaurants and hawkers selling this food, with many even putting their own spins on it.Â
If you’re in the mood for fried chicken today, let us help! We’ve gone over the island sampling fried chicken dishes and listed our own favourites here.Â
With this list, you’ll learn where to get the best fried chicken delivery in Singapore. So what are you waiting for? Let the fried chicken binge get started!
1. Arnold’s Fried Chicken
Feel like having some halal fried chicken? This homegrown name is the one to look for, then.
Pretty much Singapore’s answer to KFC - though it’s nowhere near as large, of course - this relatively low-key fried chicken restaurant offers some really good fried chicken for the price. A spring chicken meal is under $10 and comes with sides, although the real highlight is the protein.
Arnold’s chicken is juicy and sweet, encased in a golden-brown shell and dusted with mild spice. Overall, it’s a chicken just about anyone will like, beating even KFC’s famous original spice mixture, in our opinion.
There are a number of branches all over the island, including the main one at Geylang Road.
It’s pretty much impossible to leave Ah Tan Wings out of a list like this, particularly if you like prawn paste fried chicken. That’s what Ah Tan Wings specialises in - and do they ever do it right!
Basically, you get a wonderfully rich har cheong gai batter coating chicken wings or chicken cutlet. Crisp enough to deafen you momentarily when you bite into it, the skin pairs sueprbly with the tender meat beneath, giving you a classic Singaporean fried chicken experience.
There are two Ah Tan Wings locations now: Yishun and Timbre+. They do have fried chicken delivery all over Singapore, though, so you don’t even need to go outside to sample their fare!
If your speed is more blazing-hot Nashville fried chicken, this one’s for you. You’ll think you’ve flown to the US after sinking your teeth into one of these.Â
The dry rub they use on their chicken is both secret and Southern, and it’s definitely worth a try. Note that you can choose the spice level for several dishes, so you can go from something that’s just mildly spicy to - to use their term - atomic.Â
While we loved the atomic options, we do strongly advise not getting if you’re not a hardcore or longtime spice fan. It might not exactly blow your head off, but it may well leave you with a fat lip for a while.
Honestly worth it, though.
Now, what if what you want to get delivered is Korean-style fried chicken? Well, then, you can try Chicken Up. They do the classic double-fried Korean fried chicken that seals juices and flavour right into the meat.
What we like best about the chicken here is how long it seems to stay juicy. You can literally leave it on the plate for minutes just to do an extended Instagram photo session of your meal and it’ll still be good when you bite into it.Â
If you get their chilli-flake-dusted chicken, take note that it’s also on the milder side as far as Korean fried chicken goes. We also suggest giving the soya chicken a try if you want something a little bit different.
But really, the true reason to pick Chicken Up instead of other Korean fried chicken joints is that each piece of chicken is fried to order. This applies even to their fried chicken buffet, actually, which is why their buffet involves some waiting on occasion.
It’s a small price to pay for freshly fried chicken, though. Everyone can pretty much agree on that!
