It’s been a glorious November in the pleasure grounds: the first picture shows a queen butterfly among the tithonia flowers, where dozens of them have been disporting themselves for five days. The monarch butterflies that passed through for about six weeks (last seen a few days ago) were among these flowers in clouds, also. The monarchs were very busy with Bright Lights cosmos, as well, although the queen butterflies are most attracted to the tithonia and the lantana, with tithonia greatly preferred. The cosmos shown in the second image were volunteers from last year’s flowers. In other words, they will reseed themselves, but that hasn’t been the case with the “Mexican sunflowers.”
